Chapter 344: Chapter 37 Nazi Zombies and Spartan Soldiers

Half an hour later, David and the others, weary, were slouched on the back of their Raptor mounts, passing before the building where Tang Zheng was hiding. The entire group was eerily silent, the atmosphere oppressive, with no trace of the jubilation they should’ve felt after defeating the Armed Tyrannosaurus.

"It’s surprising that no one was lost," Lu Fan carefully observed each person, then added, "The newbies are just startled; Leonard is in the worst condition - it seems he has a broken rib, and he’s gone pale from losing too much blood."

"Facing such a monster, even if the newbies volunteered as cannon fodder, it wouldn’t have helped much. Only the Conquerors’ determination to fight ensured their survival." Tang Zheng was right - the newbies had survived by a stroke of luck.

"I wonder how many Golden Horns they got," Lu Fan used his electronic stick to scan the Armed Tyrannosaurus, knowing that it was the monster that dropped the mission props.

"Let’s follow them," said Tang Zheng, not in a hurry. He remained quietly patient, knowing they would eventually find out.

After a simple lunch, David and the others continued their journey. Despite not encountering another Tyrannosaurus, they did face four groups of natives. However, these fellows didn’t have any dragons for them to ride on, and they were on foot. They were shot down before they could get close, but Rolin was unlucky. Still dizzy from hitting her head on a car that morning, she was unable to avoid a javelin and got struck in the calf.

Now, Rolin lay on the Raptor, a bandage wrapped around her calf. She looked sick, and no one paid her any attention. She had become a burden.

"Uncle, today is the third day, isn’t it? It seems like the punishment squad should come out," Lu Fan frowned, rubbing his chin and glancing at Julia. "All newbies, and not even a single piece of information gathered, I wonder, could the Red Trojan Horse be so merciful?"

"It seems that our plan ’Let the others do the work’ is going to end," Tang Zheng looked at the electronic map and sighed. The unforeseen changes were not caught in their plan.

Nearing dusk, they all arrived at the third teleportation gate. The glowing path also ended here, seemingly urging the survivors to pass through it.

"Uncle, if they blow up the teleportation gate, we will be in trouble. Let’s regroup quickly," Lu Fan urged him.

All of the day’s dangers were eliminated by David’s group, a casual outing for them. However, Lu Fan still wasn’t satisfied. How good would it be if this could continue forever? Jenny and Kailin did not want to turn back either. Having others as meat shields was so convenient, but they knew this wasn’t realistic.

With the consensus reached, Tang Zheng led them to David’s group. Except for Jack and his daughter, the expressions of the rest of the newbies were cold, not even bothering to greet them.

"Oh, Tang, welcome back." Jack gave Tang Zheng a warm hug and asked, "You’re not hurt, are you?"

"No. Three people died?" Tang Zheng looked around observantly, letting emotion register correctly on his face— confusion— leaving little room for others to doubt him.

"Where have you gone these two days?" Danny glared at Tang Zheng, questioning him loudly as the rest of the newbies shifted their gazes towards them.

"Hmph, do I owe you an explanation?" The more hostility Tang Zheng sensed, the prouder he acted. Acting humble and trying to explain himself would undoubtedly raise suspicions.

"Is it any of your business?" Lu Fan, his chin covered in dust, looked at Danny disdainfully. As long as they could pass through the teleportation gate in time, who cared about these people’s attitudes?

"We were attacked by the natives and a Tyrannosaurus, forcing us to flee into the city," Jenny’s face was steady as she lied, "Haven’t you seen the charred corpses in the mall? Look at the Raptor mount?"

The newbies seemed relieved. Even as a group, they managed to kill only one Armed Tyrannosaurus. No matter how strong Tang Zheng was, the logical choice would have been to run for his life.

"Welcome back," Miranda extended a hand towards Tang Zheng, followed by smiles from the other newbies. Misunderstandings had been cleared, and Tang Zheng was a valuable addition to their strength; they didn’t mind being a little friendlier.

"Where’s Rebecca?" Kailin asked following the script. Although her expression betrayed a hint of her lying, nobody doubted her. They believed she was trying to hide her grief over the loss of her colleague.

"Just like Tang predicted," Jenny looked at the people around her, sneering inwardly. They were simply no match, still completely manipulated by Tang Zheng who retained control over the situation and conversations.

"This monster." Realizing that all of Tang Zheng’s advice had been used, Jenny shuddered involuntarily, her gaze instinctively turning to Miranda.

"The first one to question me will be Danny, the first to show goodwill will be Jack. After the misunderstanding is cleared, the first to speak to me will be Miranda. You will need to take the initiative to make small talk and ask her about what happened today. This will further reduce doubts. However, listen more and speak less. The more you say, the more mistakes you make."

Remembering everything Tang Zheng had told her, Jenny walked up to Miranda with a cheerful smile and started to make conversation. Meanwhile, Kailin and Julia kept glancing at Tang Zheng. He was terrifying, predicting the reactions of everyone and telling them the simplest ways to handle them.

"You’re back, Leonard?" Tang Zheng knew some people would be suspicious of him. However, it didn’t matter as long as he appeared fine in public. As for Leonard, he needed to show scorn and indignation. Being indifferent would arouse suspicion and could divert people’s attention.

Sure enough, after hearing this, the newbies stopped wondering about Tang Zheng’s whereabouts and started paying attention to the conflict between Tang Zheng and Leonard.
