Chapter 339: Chapter 33 - Kill
Seeing Tang Zheng fleeing in a pitiful state similar to a mouse, the Dragon Bone Natives on the street who were furiously riding started to release a shrill and high-pitched howl. It seemed like their battle song, and they were producing some strange syllables in their throats, apparently communicating with each other.
Unfortunately, Tang Zheng did not understand; otherwise, he could have taken this opportunity to gather information. The only thing he could do now was to run full-speed towards the shopping mall thirty meters away.
"It will take more than four seconds, but I hope I won’t be attacked," Tang Zheng knew this was a luxury. After observing the Natives’ precise shooting skills, he considered evading them for a split second but dropped the idea considering the dinosaurs could catch up to his speed.
The Natives responded extremely quickly. Six of them instantly took out their javelins and threw them. The javelins buzzed through the air and landed exactly behind Tang Zheng’s heels. If he was half a beat slower, he would have been nailed to the ground.
Four of them took out longbows, drew three arrows, and shot a barrage of arrows, trying to block Tang Zheng’s escape route.
Tang Zheng again abruptly accelerated, narrowly avoiding the arrows. He sprinted up the stairs and into the glass door of the mall without any pause and hurried upstairs.
"I need to break them up one by one. To deal with their smell, I have to get to the seventh floor, where the perfume department is," Tang Zheng was calm; he was choosing his battlefield carefully.
The Dragon Bone Natives followed closely. Looking at the small main entrance of the shopping mall, they all dismounted from their dinosaurs, strapped two arrow bags to their waists, and chased in.
Lu Fan, anxious, saw Tang Zheng in peril and wanted to rush out to help, but he was afraid of causing more chaos. Seeing all the Natives leaving, he gritted his teeth and took Julia to find a safe hiding place.
"Quick, follow me."
"We cannot run away." Julia still had some sense of righteousness. Jenny and Kailin were furious at her. This was no time for fearlessness. But they didn’t dare to contradict. If their words reached Tang Zheng’s ears, they definitely wouldn’t fare well.
"The Natives have an excellent sense of smell. What if they abandon chasing Uncle and come after us instead? Stop talking and follow my orders while Uncle isn’t here, or get lost," Lu Fan glared at them and ran towards the nearest building on the side.
The moment the Natives entered the mall lobby, they heard the sound of running on the elevator. They didn’t waste their arrows; relying on their extraordinary speed, they went after their prey.
"So fast," Tang Zheng looked back and noticed that the Natives, being tall and lengthy, could advance more than half a meter with each step. Plus, they had impressive explosive power.
Tang Zheng finally found an opportunity to attack. All ten Natives had chased onto the elevator, limiting their dodging direction and vision. He immediately pulled the trigger and fired at them.
Seeing the electric-arc Thunderstorm balls coming their way, some of the Natives crouched down like monkeys and shot to the sides. Those in the middle moved too, but the last two were half a beat slower. Just as they jumped, they were hit by the Thunderstorm balls. One nearly had half of its body blown off, while the other lost both legs. Though in a better condition, it lost its ability to fight and thumped down, moaning in the blood and shattered flesh.
The Natives were angered. They roared, slowed down their speed, and prepared to steady themselves to kill their prey, but their target had already turned into a different floor, forcing them to continue giving up.
As Tang Zheng ran up the escalator leading to the fourth floor, he took out a remote control bomb that hadn’t been used up and stuffed it into the flower pot at the entrance of the escalator, then used the branches and leaves of the flowers to cover it.
"This time I’ll give you a hard one." Tang Zheng was two steps away from reaching the fifth floor, and the Natives had already stepped on the elevator. They were slightly faster than Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng needed time to set up on the seventh floor, so he didn’t blast the last two natives, but chose the first three. When they passed the bomb, Tang Zheng pressed the detonator.
Boom, the intense explosion, accompanied by a large cluster of scorching flames, instantly swallowed everything around it. The three Natives nearby were instantly turned to ashes, while the remaining five were blown away by the shock wave.
Clang, clang. The debris within the explosion range rolled around, and there were popping and creaking collision sounds and burning sounds everywhere.
"I hope they weren’t scared off. It would be bad if I can’t kill them all." Tang Zheng did not want others to know his whereabouts. He was now slightly annoyed. It would be great if he had enhanced his neural response speed earlier. Now he was purely relying on the four-fold boost from Firefly and the fortification effect from the first activation of the seed. Although it was usually enough, facing those monsters that had enhanced explosiveness made him feel uncomfortable.
Every time Tang Zheng thought about a tribe full of such warriors, he felt a chill in his heart. Ordinary newbies would be completely defeated in front of them unless traps were set up in advance. This is because not only were these Natives physically extraordinary, but they also made more effective use of it.
Tang Zheng’s concern was somewhat redundant. These ten were all elite warriors in the Native tribe. They were dispatched to maintain the teleportation gate, and their usual formation was two elite warriors and eight ordinary warriors.
The physical fitness of these elite natives is four times that of ordinary humans, and their sense of smell and hearing are particularly outstanding. One can say Tang Zheng was being chased by forty people. Being able to kill five in one go and still hold the upper hand was something he could be proud of.
The remaining five natives did not retreat. After the explosion, they angrily jumped over the large hole that had been blasted in the ground and continued their pursuit.
By this time, Tang Zheng had already climbed to the seventh floor. He resorted to the same tactic, placing a bomb at the stairwell, then while running, he drew his AK74, which was equipped with a drum magazine, and began shooting recklessly at the perfume bottles displayed on the counters.
Amidst the sounds of glass shattering, a variety of strong, fragrant scents, mixed together, began to waft in the air, stimulating the nostrils and making one sneeze involuntarily.
This was precisely the effect that Tang Zheng desired. He did not immediately detonate the bomb, as it was meant to cut off the retreat of the natives. Instead, he zigzagged, throwing a remote-control bomb into three different counters before hiding under one of them before the natives found him.
The natives were very fast runners but did not produce much noise, making it only possible for Tang Zheng to detect their approach by straining his hearing.
Sure enough, when they ran close to Tang Zheng and found that they had lost their target, they immediately began sniffing the air, attempting to track his scent. However, the very next moment, violent coughing and sneezing sounds rang out. The natives were choked until their eyes watered, unable to smell anything but the strong scent of perfume.
Tang Zheng tried his best to control his breathing, daring not to move, for fear of being heard. For a time, the only sounds on the seventh floor of the mall were the anxious howls and sneezes of the natives. But soon, they quieted down.
"They must have started to search the surroundings now, but the conditions aren’t right enough," thought Tang Zheng. Not wanting to face all five at once, he pushed the detonator.
With a boom, a counter exploded instantly, startling the natives. Leaving one to search here, the rest chased after the source of the explosion.
Tang Zheng pressed the detonator again, hoping to use the bomb to scatter the remaining natives.
"It seems that only one set of footsteps remains, and it’s getting closer." Tang Zheng held the Thunderstorm rifle, suddenly stood up from under the counter, and immediately spotted the native standing seven meters away. He adjusted the muzzle of the gun and pulled the trigger.
The native’s burst of speed was extraordinary. He dodged the Thunderball with a zigzag movement and charged while pulling out the boomerang tied around his waist, aiming at Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng, not afraid to waste bullets, had planned to barrage him to death. But seeing the sharp boomerang shooting towards his face and neck, he knew that if he was hit, his head would be sliced into two pieces.
By the time Tang Zheng dodged a little, the young native had sprung three metres and jumped onto the counter with a bang, slashing with the bone knife in his right hand.
Tang Zheng dodged, losing another chance to shoot. The bone knife, carrying a strong wind, brushed against his body and chopped down.
The two attacks by the native didn’t succeed, but he wasn’t in a hurry and remained composed. He switched from chopping to slashing, aiming for Tang Zheng’s waist. The attack had a wide range.
Due to the obstruction of the counter and the narrow surroundings, Tang Zheng had nowhere to dodge. He could only hold the rifle with both hands and use it as a baton to strike the bone knife. He didn’t want to be chopped in two.
With a bang, the two weapons collided, producing a piercing sound. The quality of the Thunderstorm rifle was good, but the bone knife still didn’t show any chips. Tang Zheng threw a punch at the native.
The native dodged with a somersault and also caught the returning boomerang, once again shooting it at Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng ducked his head to avoid it and noticed sweat breaking out on his forehead. The combat of this guy was very straightforward and practical, aimed at fatal strikes. His terrifying strength and speed made him very lethal.
Tang Zheng was wary of the boomerang and couldn’t get away from the native to shoot. So he charged forward, aiming for a quick attack. If he didn’t act quickly, the other natives would come back, and he’d be in real danger if he had to take on all five at once.
Seeing the prey that had always been trying to escape actively charging forward, the young native was startled. With this moment of surprise, Tang Zheng had already swiftly put away his Thunderstorm rifle, pulled out his bronze sword, and aimed for the native’s neck. Meanwhile, his left hand drew an M1911 handgun. Having experienced the fight with Leonard, he wanted to practice gunfight techniques.
The Level A prop struck the bone knife, only causing a small notch. It frustrated him, but he didn’t dare to switch to the S-grade Slaughter Axe which was much heavier. Otherwise, he would have been beheaded before he could even swing it.
With a bang, the first bullet missed, it whizzed past the native’s head and embedded into the wall. Tang Zheng stabbed with his sword for a second time, tempted to rely on Firefly’s defensive power to resist an attack and kill his opponent, if not for his caution.
"Here’s my chance." From the corner of his eye, Tang Zheng saw the native glance at his boomerang. A plan instantly formed in his mind. The bronze sword swung out again, forcing the native to move to a position where he could be easily shot. Simultaneously, he pretended to be flustered and retreated. (To be continued.
