Chapter 335: Chapter 29 The Deserted City

The Star Seed outside had a halo similar to Saturn’s Rings. Under the sunlight, it looked enchantingly beautiful, shimmering with a rainbow of light. This made everyone hold their breath. Even Miranda, who had many diamond jewelry, was fascinated by it.

Danny cursed himself for being late, but the sight of Tang Zheng casually walking among the Tyrannosaurus Group, calling out the names of those unlucky guys who hadn’t died yet, and blowing up their heads, made him somewhat apprehensive.

"This guy’s crazy." Danny surpassed Tang Zheng to search for other fallen seeds.

"Uncle, here you are." Lu Fan wiped the seed on her clothes and casually threw it to Tang Zheng. She didn’t feel any regret. She knew that without her uncle, she couldn’t have gotten this thing.

"No, keep it to exchange for equipment. I don’t lack seeds." Tang Zheng caught it and without even looking, he threw it back to Loli. What he needed now was points, he couldn’t afford anything else.

"Even the top-quality Star Seed is given away. Do these two have any common sense?" David clicked his tongue and wished he could take up the offer instead of them.

"So, this is the top predator, is that it?" Danny began to think that Natalie had been bluffing, completely forgetting his embarrassing escape moments ago.

"Robert, where did these dinosaurs come from?" Having some free time, Tang Zheng began to inquire about the Teleportation Gate.

"I just hit the Teleportation Gate with a stone, and they jumped out." Robert was rather helpless, "And it seems like we have to leave through there."

Five minutes later, everyone carefully gathered before the Teleportation Gate, all the arrows on the map pointing in its direction. David and Robert exchanged glances, looking towards the remaining newbies, hoping to find a scapegoat.

Tang Zheng skimmed through the introduction on the screen. After confirming that this was the path to take, he planned to move first, but he still needed some cannon fodder.

"Who wants to pass with me? The first person to reach has the biggest chance of getting the Golden Single Horn. Don’t worry, whoever gets it keeps it, nobody will rob it." Tang Zheng glanced around, satisfying their concerns.

Seeing David and the others looking stunned and not rebutting, Jenny and a female waiter named Kailin quickly stepped forward to sign up. Julia also wanted to participate, holding Demi.

"Stand by me." Tang Zheng carried Lu Fan on his back, held the Thunderstorm in his hand, took Kailin’s hand, and walked towards the Teleportation Gate. Jenny looked at them resentfully, feeling that Tang Zheng must be discriminating against her because she was a prostitute.

Without any hesitation, under everyone’s gaze, Tang Zheng reached his hand towards the swirling cloud vortex. Immediately, a suction force began to tear at his body.

"If there are no problems, remember to come back and inform us as soon as possible." David hurriedly added.

"Alright." Tang Zheng nodded, his heart sneering. If there was no danger on the other side, he would definitely search for spoils of war. Let them wait till Doomsday for all he cared.

"Wait for me." Miranda noticed a smirk at the corner of Lu Fan’s mouth and felt something was amiss. She quickly ran after them intending to grab Tang Zheng’s clothes and pass through the Teleportation Gate together, but sadly, they had already disappeared before she could catch up.

"Alright, we can have a nap now." Danny found a slightly flat spot, pulled out his sleeping bag and crawled in. David and Robert also began to conserve their energy urgently, while only the newbies were still staring at the Teleportation Gate.

Miranda glared at the rotating clouds resentfully. She very much wanted to rush in, but she never dared to. She believed that Tang Zheng would not come back right away.

The teleportation took only an instant. When Tang Zheng’s sight recovered, he had already appeared in a city street. Seeing the scene in front of them, the six survivors were dumbfounded.

This was a modern city, full of skyscrapers that blotted out the sunlight. However, they were abandoned now, displaying the aftermath of decay. The highway was jammed with lines of cars, and due to the exposure to wind and rain, the metal had corroded badly.

"Is this the end of the world?" Jenny shrunk her shoulders and moved closer to Tang Zheng, "Why are there no people?"

"Let’s first find a place to hide." Tang Zheng crouched down, glanced around, and then targeted a bus not far away. He ran over, and the three women hurriedly followed.

"Why don’t we hide in the building?" Just like Tang Zheng, Jenny only peeped her eyes out of the car window to look outside.

"It might be dangerous. We should observe first." Lu Fan explained, looking at the Teleportation Gate in the street, "Why is it here? Who will use it? Dinosaurs? So does that mean we are where the dinosaurs will arrive?"

"Then what are we waiting for? We should hurry back and let Miranda and the others know, right?" Kailin was anxious. She didn’t want to stay in such a place for even a second longer.

"No rush. First, let’s be sure of our surroundings and a safe escape route." Tang Zheng opened the map, marked the Teleportation Gate, and began to search. As expected, the map transformed into a construction diagram of the city, with detailed descriptions even about the underground sewage system.

In this dangerous abandoned city, the women felt tense and panicked. They tightly held their rifles and looked around. They had no energy to discern whether Tang Zheng’s words were true or false. Seeing him run towards a building, they just followed, afraid to be left behind.

Tang Zheng entered a large shopping mall. Looking up, it had more than thirty floors, each selling different goods. There were elevators in the middle connecting each floor. Customers could ride them up and down and also look around.

However, the elevator had stopped functioning, and all the various electric appliances on the first floor were covered in a thick layer of dust, the mall was so quiet you could even hear your own breath.

"This is awesome! I’ve always wanted to roam around a mall with nobody else in it." As soon as Lu Fan confirmed that there was no danger, he grabbed Tang Zheng’s hand and stepped out, heading towards the elevator. The third floor was dedicated to children products, which made Lu Fan excited, and Demi also clamored that she wanted to see it.

"These television sets are quite new." Jenny touched the appliances, drooling with envy. If it weren’t for the fact that they were too heavy to lift, she would have liked to take a few home.

"Look, all kinds of leather coats, and even specialty stores." When they passed the fourth floor, Kailin’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. Those shops were all specialty stores selling various brand-name clothes. Just looking at these things in the past would have satisfied her, but now they were just sitting there, right in front of her, unattended.

"These are all unclaimed possessions, aren’t they?" Jenny swallowed a mouthful of saliva, resisting the urge to run over and start shopping. "They don’t seem very old."

"It looks like this city has only been abandoned for three or four years." Tang Zheng was also looking at the clothing, but he was assessing the degree to which they had decayed.

"Tang, can you go shopping with us?" Jenny grabbed Tang Zheng’s arm, pleading with him. At the same time, she winked at Julia, asking her to help persuade him.

"Go yourselves if you want to. Uncle is going with me, of course." Lu Fan didn’t really care about the clothes; she just wanted to stroll around.

"We’ve been walking around for so long without any incidents, there shouldn’t be any danger, right?" Jenny followed Tang Zheng to the fifth floor, but her eyes remained fixed on the clothes below. However, she quickly turned her attention back to the current floor. The fifth floor was also a clothing store, filled with a dazzling array of items.

"You guys go ahead, but stay alert. If anything dangerous happens, scream for help, we will regroup here in three hours." Tang Zheng wasn’t able to inspect the whole mall by himself, so he simply allowed the women to go, as shopping and scouting weren’t much different, all were cannon fodder tasks.

"I’ve got walkie-talkies." Lu Fan pulled out two black walkie-talkies and handed them to the women after turning them on and briefly explaining how to use them.

"Turn them off." Tang Zheng reached out to turn off the radios immediately. "No need for that. I don’t want you to use them. You aren’t even allowed to turn them on."

"Why?" Jenny was puzzled. "You don’t think that dinosaurs can locate us based on radio signals, do you?"

"Given the existence of technologies like teleportation gates, do you think the dinosaurs here are ordinary dinosaurs?" Tang Zheng always maintained a cautious approach. If it weren’t for these fears and concerns, he would have long since distributed the dozen or so walkie-talkies he had brought with him amongst the others. "I’m going now."

"What are you going to do?" Jenny was worried and tried to persuade him. "Why not go shopping with us?"

"You don’t really think I randomly picked a building to enter, do you?" Tang Zheng laughed and continued to go upstairs, saying, "Lu Fan, you explain to them."

"This building is the tallest nearby. If we go to the top, we can observe the surrounding streets." Lu Fan and Demi were playing around in the elevator, saying, "We didn’t come here for shopping."

Jenny and Kailin remembered their mission at that point, but then they shrugged, dismissing the thought. They concluded that Tang Zheng and the others were simply too fearful to come along.

"Julia, shall we go?" Jenny was suspicious and didn’t want to leave Tang Zheng with the young woman alone. However, she was immediately opposed by Demi.

"Mom, I want to play with Fanfan." Demi puffed up her cheeks and complained to her mother.

Julia gave Jenny an apologetic look and quickly followed Tang Zheng.

"We can take these goods for free!" Kailin was also persuading, then she got excited, "Look, a perfume specialty store?"

"I’m not going." Julia’s mind was filled with how to survive.

"Fine, we’ll just go ourselves." After not encountering any danger for more than ten minutes, Jenny was becoming more relaxed. And besides, having someone to accompany her eased her worries a bit.

"It would be nice if we could restore electricity." Julia was panting with exhaustion after climbing thirty or more flights of stairs. She was forced to take a break, grasping her knees with both hands. Although she was wearing a protective suit, she had been running around carrying Demi all day, so her energy consumption was much higher than others’.

The young woman looked at her daughter. Although Demi was also a bit tired, she was still excitedly exploring, running around with Lu Fan.

"Thanks to Tang Zheng." Julia knew that if it weren’t for him stepping in at key moments, she wouldn’t have been able to hold on until now.

"Are you tired? Let’s rest here for a while." Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste time, and ensuring safety as soon as possible was the most important thing.

"No, together." Julia grabbed Tang Zheng’s arm. She didn’t dare to be alone. The deserted mall gave her a sense of loneliness and fear, especially the lack of any noise, which made her feel even more strained. (To be continued.
