Chapter 332: Chapter 27 Teleportation Gate
"Let’s go, don’t waste any more time." David patted Tang Zheng’s shoulder, calling for him to leave.
Benson, who was in the middle of drinking water, choked, looking at David with disbelief. Tang Zheng was a bit surprised, he had thought that David was an open and straightforward character, he didn’t expect him to burn bridges so quickly.
"Did I say something wrong?" David frowned, aware of his surroundings. If he wasn’t worried about Tang Zheng withholding information, he wouldn’t have rushed in.
"Are you going to abandon me?" Benson roared, his body shaking uncontrollably in anger.
"Of course. What can you even do in this state? Are we supposed to carry you as a burden?" David responded without hesitation, "In the Trojan World, it’s the survival of the fittest. If someone saves you, it’s out of goodwill; if they don’t, there’s nothing wrong with it."
"But I brought back valuable intelligence for you guys!" Benson made one last effort. Seeing that David’s expression remained indifferent, and even stopped paying attention to him, he turned his gaze onto Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng remained silent and stood up. He wouldn’t oppose David for this trivial matter.
"You should be thanking Tang, give him the detoxification serum. It’s worth five points, you could have just shot him with some Dulengding and fooled him silly! Either way, you’re going to die, what a waste." David spat, his tone as if he was discussing an insignificant bug.
Tang Zheng realised he had been negligent. Someone who had survived six or seven games in the Trojan World wouldn’t be a harmless lamb. Their harmless appearances and minor injuries were likely incurred due to human bloodshed.
"You bunch of bastards." Benson roared, raising his gun towards David. Unfortunately, before he could even open fire, David had already charged forward with his military boots and kicked away the M4A1. He then landed a heavy kick on Benson’s face.
Benson’s upper half fell backward, his already ugly face now distorted. His lips visibly swelled, and his nose audibly snapped, its blood splattering everywhere. After David retracted his foot, his teeth spurted out into the air.
"Was there a need to be so brutal?" Tang Zheng looked at the large footprint imprinted on Benson’s face, his mouth twitched slightly. A life of being cannon fodder and still facing abuse was a truly miserable fate.
"Preventing future trouble. After this, who’s to say he wouldn’t hold a grudge against you? I for one, don’t want to worry about getting shot in the back." David fetched his Desert Eagle from its holster, pointed it at Benson’s leg, hesitated for a moment and didn’t open fire. He complained to Tang Zheng, "It’s all your fault for making a fuss. Now I have to worry whether a lizard will come to eat him if he bleeds too much and dies. Would I not get deducted one thousand points?"
Tang Zheng left without responding, his back turned to David, twitching at the corner of the mouth. Indeed, no one could be trusted. However, David had every right to do as he did. Any burden needed to be discarded.
"Benson was bitten by a lizard and died of poisoning." Walking out of the town, David explained to the anxious crowd before leading them around the town, planning to use another entrance to reach the Teleportation Gate.
Tang Zheng noted that apart from Benson’s friend, who glanced back at them, no one else asked about how to deal with his body.
"I saw it all." Lu Fan was toying with a telescope, her mood was unpleasant. These people were more ruthless than she thought.
"Tang, what should we do?" David addressed Tang Zheng, asking, "How should we destroy the Teleportation Gate?"
"I’m not certain, let’s try scanning it with an electronic stick." answered Tang Zheng. Surely, they wouldn’t use a hand grenade. The whereabouts of the Golden Horn is still unknown.
"We don’t know where the Teleportation Gate leads?" Maggie asked curiously, "Would we need to go through it?"
"Shouldn’t we be worried about how to avoid those lizards?" Jenny was more concerned about her own life.
"Which of you have enhanced neural response speed?" Tang Zheng questioned David’s group while gazing at their backs. He needed a helping hand and as for the newbies, there’s no harm in letting them go.
"All of us have, isn’t that obvious?" Maggie looked at Tang Zheng in confusion, "Isn’t it common to optimize enhancements that aid in survival?"
"Uncle enhanced his stamina, it’s eight times that of an ordinary person." Lu Fan thought they were too slow to understand and rephrased her question, "Who is the fastest amongst us?"
The newbies were indeed shocked. No wonder Tang Zheng had such excellent stamina, it seemed like he was never tired.
"Robert." Danny didn’t care, as long as he wasn’t the one who had to risk his life, it didn’t matter who died. After experiencing Leonard’s incident, he had had enough.
"I’m going to set up a bomb trap later. Robert, are you okay with baiting the lizards into it? Any questions?"
"Why not make the newbies do it?" Maggie knew she had to curry favour with Robert.
Upon hearing those words, the newbies immediately looked at Maggie in shock, none of them wanted to meet Benson’s fate.
"They can’t outrun the lizards." Tang Zheng glanced at the woman, then turned to Robert. "Don’t worry, the danger isn’t great, otherwise, Benson wouldn’t have made it through the town."
"If that’s the case, why don’t we all go together?" David didn’t understand Tang Zheng’s meaning, but he definitely would side with Robert who was part of their group."
"No, this is the safest method, I fear that nearing the teleportation gate may trigger a boss to appear." Tang Zheng pointed at the newbies, "Do you want them to go on a suicide mission?"
Being stared at by twenty pairs of eyes, Robert compromised. Cannon fodder should not be wasted here, and he also wanted to be the first to touch the teleportation gate.
Once the group reached the other end of the town and went fifty meters in, Tang Zheng asked them to stop and search the nearby ruins to make sure that there were no lizards hiding around. Then he started placing TNT explosives by the rocky road, some were even placed on the road surface.
The TNT explosives were tied to detonators, which would explode at the push of a button by Tang Zheng.
"When you run back here later, follow the route with my explosives. The courtyards will not only obstruct the lizards, but also gather them together for an easy wipeout." Tang Zheng retreated to a broken wall twenty meters away and instructed Robert, "It can also protect you from the shockwave of the explosion."
"Understood, but you have to control the timing of the explosion accurately." Robert looked at Tang Zheng’s extensive preparations and felt more reassured.
"Don’t worry, I don’t want to lose an outstanding conqueror on the second day." Tang Zheng patted Robert’s shoulder, quietly thinking that if a boss did appear and he got caught, he could not be blamed for being ruthless.
"Since we will be luring monsters, let’s cause a large commotion to attract more. Also, scan the teleportation gate to gather specific intel." Lu Fan was actively thinking too, which was much better than the newbies waiting idly by.
"Okay, go ahead." Tang Zheng propped up his thunderstorm rifle and observed Robert’s movements through the scope.
"Do you have any more explosives? Give me a few." Maggie wanted to play with a few as well, as these things were much stronger than fatigue.
"You can’t use them. Do you want to blow yourself up to heaven?" Lu Fan refused on behalf of Tang Zheng and set up the pepper grinder after finding an easily accessible position.
"You guys don’t lack them, why not give me a few?" Maggie pouted, "You’ve set out five courtyards, can you use them all?"
"Excess can be recovered, but there is no opportunity to plant explosives if they run out." Anyway, being cautious would never lead to big mistakes. Tang Zheng didn’t want to make those low-level mistakes.
"Don’t all hide here, women and children can wait outside the town, men stay here." Tang Zheng looked back and seeing the newbies hiding haphazardly, and there was no order, quickly chased them away as they were becoming a nuisance.
Robert cautiously walked forward, firing occasionally to stir up the hiding lizards, and monitored the electronic map. When he was approximately four hundred meters away, a red light lit up on the electronic stick, issuing an alarm. Looking down, a new icon appeared on the left side of the map indicating the teleportation gate.
Tut tut tut, Robert fired off an entire clip, causing dirt to fly around. Once he confirmed that it was safe, he switched to a Gauss sniper rifle and walked towards the alley leading to the teleportation gate after reloading.
No ancient giant lizards appeared. Fifty meters later, Robert saw the teleportation gate in a courtyard. The gate was two meters high, a round, light-blue cloud that spun like a whirlwind, seemingly swallowing everything nearby.
"Teleportation Gate, a space-time passage connecting the Cretaceous and the modern era, a unique transportation tool of the Dragon Clan. Destroying it requires Dragon Bone Bombs." Robert glanced at the explanation on the virtual screen and quickly searched for the Golden Horn and Dragon Bone Bomb. As the first one to discover the teleportation gate, he must reap the most benefits.
Three minutes later, a disappointed Robert didn’t find anything.
"Right, where should I go next?" Robert didn’t see a bright route on the map, only four arrows pointing upwards, downwards, left, and right, all pointing to the teleportation gate.
"It can’t be that we are supposed to leave through the teleportation gate." Robert wanted to be the first one to go through, but he was also afraid the other side could be dangerous. He picked up a stone from the ground and threw it into the teleportation gate.
This action was like stirring up a hornet’s nest. The teleportation gate, which was slowly spinning in a spiral, suddenly sped up. After a flash of blue light, hundreds of ancient giant lizards appeared on the empty ground. On seeing Robert, they immediately charged towards him like a tidal wave.
Robert reacted rapidly, turning and running, while pulling a hand grenade off his shoulder and tossing it behind him after pulling the pin.
Boom, a few lizards were thrown out by the explosion wave, but they were only injured and were still capable of fighting.
The teleportation process did not stop. After another flash of blue light, another batch of two hundred giant lizards appeared. And it didn’t stop there, the blue light flickered again, and three more groups of dinosaurs were transported. They were all ferocious carnivorous dinosaurs from the theropod tyrannosauridae family, totaling an alarming five hundred.
As soon as they appeared, they raised their heads and roared, seemingly tearing apart the air above the broken town. They then rushed out chaotically, chasing after Robert. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
