Chapter 324 - 21 Conflict

Chapter 324: Chapter 21 Conflict

"Can’t you guys be a little apprehensive? It’s only the first day in the Cretaceous period and already eight people are dead." Sitting at the campfire, Danny, who was adding firewood, disapproved of Tang Zheng’s carefree attitude and intentionally brought up unpleasant topics to piss him off, "And Brant, the poor sap whose arms you broke, I saw him being swallowed whole by a Terror Crocodile."

Compared to the 32 people who started crossing the lake at noon, the temporary camp was indeed somewhat sparse now. The newbies fell silent. Out of reflex, they started looking around. They had been too panicked before and didn’t notice who had died. Now they were curious.

Two hooligans, the man with a scar, security guard Anthony, Defoe, and the high school student with a sprained ankle - they were all killed crossing the lake, completely devoured by the Terror Crocodile, not a single trace of them left behind.

Brant provoked Tang Zheng, got his limbs broken and was abandoned. The other high school student was the most innocent and pitiful of them all. He had already crossed the lake, but thought it was safer to stay further away from the shore, only to end up being eaten by the Terror Crocodile.

Thinking about their tragic deaths, the newbies, having finally calmed down, suddenly felt nauseous and wanted to vomit.

Seeing their worried and depressed expressions, Danny couldn’t help but laugh cheerfully. However, it didn’t last long. He soon choked on his laughter, like a rooster whose neck was grabbed and couldn’t make a sound.

"Uncle, do you want some coffee?" Lu Fan glanced at Danny. Seeing that the water was almost boiled, he made two cups of coffee, passed a cup to Tang Zheng, then casually sat back down and continued admiring the starry sky, completely unaffected by the situation.

Tang Zheng was busy browsing the electronic map, memorising the nearby terrain. He was so focused that he didn’t even blink.

The peaceful demeanor of the two of them inadvertently calmed and relaxed the newbies, making them feel that the death scenes they witnessed were not that big a deal after all.

"How are we organizing the night watch?" Having his plans thwarted, Danny got up, stretched lazily, unfolded his sleeping bag and declared, "Anyway, I’m going to bed."

"Derek and Julia take the first half of the night, Mars and Chris the second half." Leonard attempted to display his authority once again and regain control of the team. He also wanted to cause a little trouble for Tang Zheng - You want to look after the blonde mother and daughter? Then I’ll let them consume their energy and slow you down. Let’s see whether you save them or not. If you don’t, your credibility with the newbies will definitely drop.

The newbies who weren’t assigned duties breathed a sigh of relief. However, those who were, instead of immediately complying, turned to look at Tang Zheng as if waiting for his response. This was a severe blow to Leonard’s face, causing his cheeks to turn an iron blue.

"If you guys don’t want to obey, then get out of the camp." Leonard angrily threw an empty canned food box on the ground, glaring at them.

Julia, not knowing what to do, stood up frantically and asked, "How am I supposed to keep watch?"

"Where’s your gun? Without a gun, what the hell are you guarding?" Leonard seized the opportunity and began showering Julia with abuse.

However, the newbies knew he was indirectly scolding Tang Zheng and thought even less of Leonard after this. He was temperamental, incompetent, and all he knew was to yell while frowning. What qualifications did he have to bark orders here?

"Julia, sit down. You don’t need to keep watch." Tang Zheng initially didn’t care, but Leonard’s outburst annoyed him.

The newbies scooted their butts back; it was clear these two were at odds with each other.

"Those who are eager to die can go on night watch. You’re wasting the newbies’ stamina. What are they supposed to do tomorrow, wait to die?" Tang Zheng immediately retorted, taking the side of the newbies and suppressing Leonard, "You’re not even willing to provide them with food and water, but when it’s time to use them, you jump forward. Can you be any more shameless?"

Remembering that they had their meals because of Tang Zheng, the newbies immediately looked at Leonard with disdain. They also agreed with Tang Zheng’s words - the more rest they get, the more stamina they have for escaping.

"You yellow monkey, don’t push your luck." Seeing his reputation plummet, Leonard started hurling racial slurs. He didn’t expect his compatriots to side with the Easterner. If he had just cared a little bit about the newbies, they wouldn’t have supported Tang Zheng.

Upon hearing this offensive term, Tang Zheng and Lu Fan’s eyes hardened. The former immediately dropped his coffee cup and pounced forward like a cheetah, the strong wind from his sprint causing a few embers from the campfire to flutter violently.

The distance between the two was less than eight meters. Tang Zheng sprinted at full speed and reached Leonard in less than two seconds, his fist landing a solid punch on Leonard’s cheek.

Leonard was startled, not expecting Tang Zheng to attack so suddenly. He used to be an ordinary foreman, relying on cunning and intelligence to get by. He prioritized agility for his physical enhancements. So, he dodged the first attack and then jumped up. His hand already held a silver Desert Eagle, the gun pointed at Tang Zheng’s head as he fired twice.

S-Class Firefly gear even had neck protection. If Leonard wanted to kill Tang Zheng with one strike, he had to aim for the head.

The camp was instantly filled with screams. The newbies retreated, fearing accidental injury, while even the Conquerors didn’t expect the situation to escalate to this level. They all felt Leonard was too ruthless - it was okay to fight, but he aimed to kill right off the bat, which was a bit too ruthless.

Only Danny was cheering on the side.

After rushing out, Tang Zheng only intended to teach Leonard a lesson and conveniently measure his ability. But, Leonard attacked intending to kill, truly enraging Tang Zheng. If not for the need to keep his trump card hidden out of consideration for others whose positions were still unclear, he would have immediately launched his Seed Ability to kill Leonard.

BOOM, Tang Zheng also pulled out his M1911A1, and shot Leonard’s right hand, almost disarming his Desert Eagle.

"Humph. If it wasn’t for the fact that Uncle didn’t want to lose a thousand points for killing a teammate, that bullet would have blown up his head," Lu Fan also pulled out his pepper grinder and watched cautiously, subtly indicating Danny. He would attack anyone trying to help Leonard at the first opportunity.

"Enough all of you, stop!" David was furious. What the hell was going on? They had only been here for one day and were already fighting amongst themselves. He thought Leonard’s tolerance was too low. He should be trying to win over a strong teammate like Tang Zheng.

But nobody paid him any mind. Tang Zheng and Leonard had already started fighting. Neither of them had released their abilities, but the fight was already explosive. Leonard seemed to have exchanged for the gunfight technique, using a combined body technique and gun technique, integrating both attack and defense into one comprehensive style of combat.

To the newbies, it looked like Leonard was hopping up and down. He dodged Tang Zheng’s attack and retaliated by firing his gun from every odd angle imaginable.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, each powerful shot from the Desert Eagle made the newbies blink uncontrollably. Tang Zheng’s bullets skimming past his head, neck, and chest; nearly hitting him each time. They barely dared to breathe.

"Is that all you’ve got?" Tang Zheng suddenly spoke, startling everyone.

The newbies’ faces were filled with disbelief. If it had been any of them, they would have been dead under such an attack. They didn’t expect Tang Zheng to still hold back and thought he was bluffing. But in the next moment, Leonard’s face was hit, and his body involuntarily flew out, rolling into a bush.

"How is that possible? How could my gunplay technique fail?" Leonard, covered in dirt, stood up and spat out some blood, his face full of surprise. Then, again, he threw himself at Tang Zheng, like a man who had nothing left to lose.

Tang Zheng lifted his pistol, firing repeatedly, hitting him on the knee. Even though he couldn’t shoot through the protective clothing, it was enough to cause him a bit of pain.

"Do you want me to blow your head up?" Tang Zheng once again displayed his proficient shooting skills.

"Your gunfight technique is excellent, but your speed and strength are only twice that of an ordinary person. Tang Zheng’s is clearly above five times that. You can’t even block his heavy punch, how can you use your gunfight technique?" Robert perceived the essence of his failure. "Just apologize, and let’s pretend this never happened."

"Why should I apologize?" Leonard glared at them, shouting, "Whose side are you on?"

Robert thought that if he asked Tang Zheng to apologize, Tang Zheng would definitely send him off along with Leonard.

"Killing will deduct a thousand points, just let it go." David acted as a peacemaker. With Tang Zheng, their chances of survival would increase. Especially after seeing him suppress Leonard, David was even less likely to offend him.

"Only a thousand, I don’t care." Leonard’s dignity was being trampled upon, he was seething with anger, seeking revenge. But, after rolling his eyes, a cunning smile emerged at the corner of his mouth.

"We can stop fighting, but someone among us has to leave the team."

The newbies thought Leonard wanted to kick out Tang Zheng, they were stunned, secretly thinking this guy must have lost his mind. Deep down, they wanted to choose Tang Zheng because at least following him, they’d have meat to eat. But the racial issue made them hesitate.

"You’ll have to think hard about this. He is an outside aid, and will leave after this round. But you guys will have to stick with me forever." Leonard glanced at them out of the corner of his eye, looking for the right opportunity to strike.

"If we can’t survive this round, nothing else matters. Aren’t you still using us as cannon fodder? I’d rather find new companions than stay with someone like you." Nicole gave Leonard a disdainful look. His type disgusted her. Her words left the newbies startled and even more undecided.

"Danny, what do you say?" Leonard deliberately asked Danny. The newbies’ gaze instinctively shifted over.

"A good opportunity." Seeing the situation, Leonard immediately lifted his gun and aimed it at Lu Fan and pulled the trigger.

The sudden gunshot shocked everyone. They hadn’t expected Leonard to sudden launch a sneak attack, even more so against Lu Fan, the little loli.

Lu Fan, like a cunning little fox, had been watching Leonard from the corner of her eye all along, guarding against him sneak attacking Tang Zheng. So, when he lifted his gun, little loli started to dodge.

Tang Zheng, too, had never trusted Leonard. He lifted his hand and fired twice, deflecting Leonard’s Desert Eagle barrel with bullets. Then, rushing forward, he began hand-to-hand combat. This time he didn’t hold back and his punches smashed Leonard’s teeth, swelling his eyes, then he threw him away with a back throw.

David and Robert knew that Tang Zheng was set on killing. They quickly intervened, stopping the two of them. They didn’t want any loss in their fighting power. Infighting was the most foolish way to die.(To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it and/or give it a monthly ticket on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
