Chapter 314: Chapter 30: The Challenge of Barbecuing and Crossing the Lake_2

"I’ll help." Julia knelt down to help, and Demi stood by the side of the crocodile, eyeing the big guy.

"Where’s Lu Fan?" Tang Zheng sighed inwardly, they didn’t really care about Little Lolita after all.

"Went to the toilet." Julia finished, she saw the look on Tang Zheng’s face, and clarified, "She didn’t want me to go with her, said she’ll be fine alone."

"Uncle, you’re back? What kind of dinosaur did you catch?" Lu Fan crawled out of the woods, sprinted forward, first crossed a puddle, then jumped over a group of campfire, and finally made a leap and landed on the crocodile’s head. Her agile move didn’t seem like a child’s.

"Fanfan, you’re awesome. It’s a big crocodile." Demi clapped her hands, wanting to step on the crocodile’s head too.

"You guys cut the meat yourselves, Jack, do you want to join? Your fish is burnt." Tang Zheng cut about thirty pounds of meat and asked, "Is our campfire still burning?"

Jack yelled, and quickly ran back. Nicole glanced at her father, but decided to stay with Tang Zheng.

"Over here." Julia led the way, Demi had already ran towards the campfire, "We can eat meat now."

"Not dinosaur meat, how disappointing." Lu Fan said casually. Seeing that everyone else was crowding around the crocodile’s corpse for the best meat, she was worried and said, "Uncle, stop playing with fire. I didn’t see any bullet holes on the crocodile, this is too risky."

"It’s an exception this time." Tang Zheng didn’t want to repeat this either. It’d be very embarrassing if he had to release his abilities being cornered by a crocodile.

"But these people are so dumb. They didn’t catch their prey after so long. Only Jack and Mars caught a few fish. Oh, the high school girl who sprained her foot is back. She had a fight with her classmate." Lu Fan reported everything that happened at the campsite after Tang Zheng left, leaving nothing out.

"Tang, sorry for the intrusion." Jack held a branch with a burnt fish on it.

"Help cut some branches, we’ll grill some meat." Tang Zheng handed Jack a chopper. He could get free labor for a few pieces of meat, this deal wasn’t bad. However, having just kissed the girl’s lips, making the girl’s father work felt a bit wrong.

"Fair trade, very good." Jack seemed pleased and ran towards the trees with the chopper, as if he was a righteous knight.

Tang Zheng took out an iron board, some condiments, even a pot of cooking oil, leaving Nicole and the blonde woman in awe.

"You didn’t also prepare beer, did you?" Maggie, who had already eaten her fill, came over and looked at Tang Zheng, laughing, "You’re the most laid-back conqueror I’ve ever seen."

"Let’s have Maotai today." Lu Fan was used to her uncle’s style, she took out a bottle of Maotai and grinned like a successful fox stealing chickens, "This is my gift to uncle, it’s been stored for over 20 years!"

"If you get drunk, there’s nowhere for you to sleep, but I appreciate the thought." Tang Zheng ruffled Lu Fan’s hair, smiling, "Did you steal this from home?"

"Hehe, it’s grandpa’s. Missing a bottle or two won’t be noticeable." Lu Fan finished speaking, holding the bottle like an offering and handed it to Tang Zheng.

"Put it back, I’m going to take a shower and change clothes." Tang Zheng didn’t want to keep wearing his blood-stained clothes.

Hearing this, Lu Fan’s face fell, she touched her chin, "How about stealing dad’s red wine next time?"

minutes later, the aroma of grilled meat wafted into the air, causing the newbies to drool, their mouths watering. However, they could only chew on their partially charred pieces of meat.

"Will this attract dinosaurs?" Maggie boldly sat next to Tang Zheng, turned the meat on the iron board with a rusty fork, acting as the chef while simultaneously mooching food off him.

"It’ll attract gluttons." Nicole glanced at Maggie from time to time, thinking that her job had been stolen, "Didn’t you eat already?"

"I’m hungry again, is there a problem?" Maggie retorted and then handed the grilled meat to Lu Fan. She knew Tang Zheng cared a lot for this little lolita.

"I’ll do it myself, give it to Demi." Apart from Tang Zheng’s food, Lu Fan wouldn’t eat anything from anyone else.

"Do it yourself, Mr. Knight, you wouldn’t expect me to equip you with a maid, would you?" Tang Zheng gestured for the blonde woman to dig into the meat. "Go ahead, don’t be shy."

"It’s just so abundant, I don’t know where to start, and I’m already full of saliva." Jack thought his joke was quite funny, unfortunately, no one paid any attention to him, they were all busy eating.

"It’ll be great if we can just kill a dinosaur that comes along, crocodile meat isn’t tasty." Lu Fan’s confidence was sky-high, her sand ability can indeed take care of a few dinosaurs without a problem. "I want to eat tyrannosaurs."

"Demi thinks it’s good, very tasty." Demi’s eyes were fixed on the golden grease oozing from the meat, she almost swallowed her tongue.

"Jack, catch!" Tang Zheng tossed a can of beer over, cracked open another for himself and ignored Maggie’s request, "Women, don’t drink."

"Fantastic, Tang, you’re the Aladdin’s lamp!" Jack praised God as he enjoyed his food, oblivious to the fact that if his daughter hadn’t been kissed by Tang, he might still be chewing on those burnt fish.

Miranda decided against asking for food, it wasn’t the right time. But Jenny was thick-skinned, she didn’t have such worries.

"Tang, can I invite myself to lunch?" Jenny didn’t try to flirt, she knew it wouldn’t work on Tang Zheng.

"Have a seat, though, you’ll have to prepare your own meat and chopsticks." Actually, Tang Zheng wouldn’t mind if they used his seasonings and cooking oil, he wasn’t trying to win them over. They likely wouldn’t survive this game and though he wouldn’t save them, he could at least offer them a good meal.

"You’re so generous." Jenny cheered, ran out to cut some meat, broke a branch to use as a fork and hurried back.

"How are you guys planning to cross the lake?" Tang Zheng hadn’t forgotten the serious business, Maggie was qualified to participate in a conqueror’s discussion.

"By making a raft and rowing across, we can’t exactly fly, can we?" Maggie looked like it was the most obvious thing, but her response stumped both Tang Zheng and Lu Fan.

"Huh? You didn’t bother to find the best place to cross the lake? You didn’t consider how to defend against potential attacks en-route? Did you even give any thought to how to avoid danger as much as possible, by luring the lake beasts away before crossing? You just plan to row across so mindlessly?" Lu Fan was taken aback, mimicked the motion of rowing a boat and waited for Maggie’s explanation.

Maggie also got stumped by little lolita’s bombardment of questions and didn’t know what to say, "Robert is probably deliberating with them, but rowing over is no problem, right?"

The newbies who had been paying attention to their conversation also furrowed their brows; it seemed like Maggie’s group wasn’t very reliable.

"If we’re attacked, we’ll kill them, of course." After racking her brains, Maggie finally found an answer.

"And what if you can’t kill them right away? What if they overturn your raft? Will you save the people who fall overboard? Who will build the raft? How will roles be delegated? How will you group the people who will board the raft?" Lu Fan continued to ask.

"And what about the order of crossing the lake? Do you need to centralize firepower? Or will everyone form groups and look out for themselves?" Tang Zheng laughed, "But I guess you’ll definitely choose the former."

The newbies were once again astonished. They weren’t foolish, they’d considered some of those questions, but never as comprehensively as these two did.

"Tang, what’s your plan?" Miranda quickly asked, trying to find a chance to hitch a ride.

"Haven’t thought of anything yet."

On hearing these words, the newbies were disappointed, but only Miranda had a barely noticeable sneer at the corner of her mouth. She could tell that the kid was lying because he and that lolita looked too relaxed.

"Tang, why don’t you go discuss with Leonard and the others? I think you’ll definitely come up with a solution." Maggie nodded confidently, prepared to pass on this information to David.

"No, I honestly have no clue." Tang Zheng pulled Maggie back down to her seat, he didn’t want to get involved in other people’s business. Their lives were none of his concern. Okay, his inflatable boat could take one more person, having Nicole and her father along will surely add to the firepower.

Lu Fan sneaked a glance at Demi and sighed. She felt remorse for considering abandoning them. Demi was just a child, without anyone to protect her, she’ll definitely die. (To be continued.
