Chapter 293: Chapter 40 The Last Desperate Run
"Well, I’m about to die. Your threats probably won’t work." Yin Shangwu, who doesn’t even fear death, laughed mockingly. "Don’t be so childish next time."
Tang Zheng couldn’t bear it any longer and slapped her in the face, leaving a clear handprint.
"Don’t lose your temper." Qin Yan restrained him, looking hopelessly at Yin Shangwu. "Please, tell me how to revive Bai Guo? Didn’t you say you would answer any questions we ask?"
"Ha, are there honest people in the Trojan Horse Game?" Yin Shangwu scoffed, panting heavily. She needed rest now, not conversation.
"Stop asking her. Trojan must know." Pang Meiqin couldn’t stand her; their detachment towards Li Xinlan made it impossible for her to relate to the urgency Tang Zheng and Qin Yan were currently feeling. Despite their puzzled glance, she obediently shut her mouth.
"What if Trojan doesn’t say?" Qin Yan screamed at Pang Meiqin, the first time she’d ever lost her temper.
"Uncle, you all need to calm down and not be fooled by her. If there really is a way to revive someone, why didn’t Yin Shangwu revive anyone and went for revenge alone instead?" Lu Fan playfully flicked Tang Zheng’s forehead, attempting to snap him out of it.
Tang Zheng felt as though he’d been tricked and his face turned unsightly. Just as he was about to strike Yin Shang Wu, he was held back by Qin Yan, who still held onto a glimmer of hope.
"My companions no longer wish to be revived. As I mentioned, the Trojan Horse Game can sometimes drive you to consider suicide." Yin Shangwu laughed, but tears streamed continually from her eyes. "You have no idea how thrilled we initially were to discover we could revive our companions. But then we realized that it was nothing more than a brutal cycle of massacre. We had an agreement to return alive together, but someone died, earned 10,000 points, was resurrected, and then the cycle of earning 10,000 points to go back home began again. However, the cruel game always kills someone. No matter how hard we tried to break free from this cycle, some friends were just unlucky. Regardless of how iron-willed you are, it’s exhausting."
"The more you fight together, the closer your relationship. It’s tough for anyone to leave, because this is a matter of life and death. If you wish to escape from the Trojan Horse Game alive, discard those useless feelings."
Tang Zheng and Qin Yan were silent. In a person’s lifetime, there will always be one or two close friends that evoke an innate desire to carefully cherish the friendship. Otherwise, life would be a terrible failure, wouldn’t it? The guilt and remorse from merely considering abandoning friends might haunt you like a venomous snake for the rest of your life.
"Have you ever died?" Lu Fan suddenly thought of Tang Zheng. If he died, he would definitely stay behind and collect 10,000 points to revive him.
"Yes, twice." Yin Shangwu’s tone was indifferent, but her words made everyone suck in a sharp breath.
"What does it feel like after dying?" Lu Fan asked subconsciously, but Yin Shangwu just shook her head, "You’ll definitely have the chance to experience it."
Everyone understood this was not a curse, but a helpless venting of her feelings.
"10,000 points, collect 10,000 points and you can revive someone." Yin Shangwu stopped teasing them and announced the answer.
"That’s manageable. The price is the same as escaping from the Trojan Horse Game." Tang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief. The challenge was still within his coping range, but Qin Yan and Pang Meiqin frowned; based on their current scoring ability, achieving this goal wouldn’t be easy.
"What do we do now? We have the sacrificial offering, but we don’t know where the bride is." Pang Meiqin changed the subject. "There shouldn’t be any other Trojan Horse teams."
"I might have guessed where the bride is, thanks to Qin Yan’s reminder." Tang Zheng took a deep breath, discarded any distracting thoughts, and focused his mind on escaping from the game as quickly as possible.
"What did I do?" Qin Yan was puzzled.
"Remember when you used the MG3 to attack the Russians and forgot to switch to the Thunderstorm rifle? We may also have fallen into a fixed mindset. Stain said that the bride is a living human, but in the entire castle, the old horse in the stable is the only living creature."
"The horse is the bride?" Pang Meiqin was startled.
"A curse? Are you saying the bride was turned into a horse by a demon?" Lu Fan nodded to himself. "No wonder she’s so skinny. She must not be used to eating fodder."
"Why think so much? Let’s go and see for ourselves." Pang Meiqin was impatient and stood up abruptly. "But first, we need to collect the heads from the corpses."
"What about her?" Lu Fan pointed at Yin Shangwu, who was now almost a burden to them.
"Leave me alone. Just go." Yin Shangwu was prepared to face death calmly. She’d been weary of living for a long time.
"Your attitude is inappropriate. At least your friends wouldn’t want to see you like this." Tang Zheng left her behind after saying these words and went to the stable. He wasn’t a psychologist, and it wasn’t necessary to worry for this woman. Speaking these words was his way of fulfilling his moral obligation.
The old horse was still alone, completely ignoring Tang Zheng and the others, gazing skywards with its head held high.
"Bride?" Lu Fan attempted to communicate, but to no avail.
"Let’s check if it’s a male or female horse first. The bride can’t be a male, can it?" Tang Zheng bent down to check, but the horse kicked at him. Fortunately, he was standing far enough away.
"Stop pretending, you’re the bride. If you can’t speak, give me a nod." Tang Zheng pulled out his Thunderstorm rifle and pointed it at the horse, "Answer within five seconds, or you’re dead."
