Chapter 246: Chapter 5 The Prisoner’s Coliseum

As Silver Trojan began the teleportation, the bodies of more than fifty survivors disappeared once more. Some of the girls, seeing this strange phenomenon, screamed in fear, trying to grasp each other’s hands but found their arms had already been teleported...

"Don’t panic, after the teleportation completes, please keep extraordinarily quiet." Xu Guanlin roared loudly, making a last-ditch effort to stabilize his fellow students’ emotions.

"This kid seems to have some traits of a group leader." Zhang Hao’s sarcasm masking his underlying jealousy.

The four stewardesses, Lu Fan and Leopard Print Woman, didn’t care about any of that. They instinctively bunched up next to Tang Zheng, feeling safest being close to him.

"Don’t block my line of sight!" Tang Zheng took out his Thunderstorm rifle and forced a smile, "Do you want to be my meat shield?"

Pang Meiqin standing in front of him, was forced to squeeze back, as Leopard Print Woman did not make way, which annoyed her. A few seconds later, she was too stunned to complain and began to scream.

"Why is it pitch dark? I can’t see anything. Tang Zheng, where are you?"

"Class monitor, where are you?"

"Where is this hellhole, it stinks!"

Not just Pang Meiqin, all of the forty-plus newbies were yelling, trying to find their closest friends, thinking that it would bring them a sense of security. Because after being teleported, they found themselves in pitch dark, coupled with chaotic echoes, a wave of panic instantly struck everyone’s nerves.

"Quiet, stay quiet." Xu Guanlin attempted to maintain order, but his voice was drowned out by the cacophony.

"Tang Zheng, are you there? What should we do?" Just as Qin Yan was about to retrieve her Tactical Flashlight and switch it on, she heard Tang Zheng’s warning.

"Whatever you do, don’t use your flashlight, or you might get trampled." Tang Zheng’s voice was filled with urgency, reminding everyone, if a light suddenly appears in darkness, the high school students, especially the girls, will instinctively move towards it, possibly causing a stampede. Plus if there was an imminent crisis, the light would attract any monsters nearby.

Lu Fan held tightly to Tang Zheng’s hand, the press of bodies forcing her to sit uncomfortably on his thighs.

Seeing that Xu Guanlin’s yell was ineffective and the crying escalated, Tang Zheng had no choice but to take out his AK74 Rifle and raise its muzzle towards the sky, risking exposure to fire a burst of bullets.

A rapid-fire sound filled the air. Within a minute, Tang Zheng had emptied half of his drum magazine. The startled girls screamed and squatted down, covering their ears. After, when the gunshots subsided, most of them stopped, this was purely an instinctual reaction. After all, no one could scream continuously. Even those who could, soon clenched their jaws shut due to the sudden drop in noise.

"Keep quiet now, stay still, don’t move around randomly." Seizing the moment, Tang Zheng roared out a command. He was close to warning them about potential traps in the area but realized that would only heighten the tension, so he dropped that idea.

"Everyone with a firearm, aim your muzzles towards the ground." Noticing that the situation has somewhat stabilized, Tang Zheng quickly added, fearing that someone would inadvertently fire and cause damage. Luckily, these newbies were not yet familiar with their firearms.

"Don’t panic, just calm down." Tang’s voice had a magnetic draw and bolstered with a sense of confidence and depth, thus gaining their trust and hope. "Three minutes from now, the light will turn on. So for now, everyone follows my lead and takes deep breaths.

"Inhale, exhale..."

Hearing that Tang had stabilized the situation, Zhang Hao was clearly irritated, wishing he were the one giving commands as the group leader.

"Finally got things under control. What is Silver Trojan up to? The teleport zone is pitch black." While keeping calm by chanting the breathing mantra, a storm was brewing in Tang’s mind. Little did they know that firing the rifle had been a considerable gamble – if there had been monsters waiting above them, they all would have been doomed. "At least it seems safe for now," he thought.

"Excuse me, if you have lights, why haven’t you turned them on yet?" Xu Guanlin’s question unexpectedly echoed in the darkness, sparking a few murmurs of agreement.

"Listening to the gunshot echoes, it appears we’re in a large room. And the sound of bullets hitting rock suggests there’s a ceiling, though quite high, so there’s no risk of ricochets." Tang Zheng diverted attention with an analysis, leaning them towards thinking about the situation calmly.

"Wouldn’t all this be evident if you just turned on your light? What’s all this fuss for?!" A voice sneered, banking on the darkness to hide his identity from Tang Zheng’s retaliation. But boy, was he mistaken.

"You’re a friend of Han Zifeng’s right? The one with the earring. Sorry to say this, but although you’ve only said one sentence so far, I’ve already memorized your voice." Tang Zheng intended to intimidate him, and sure enough, he heard incredulous whispers rippling through the crowd.

"You’re just bluffing." The voice retorted, and an undercurrent of unease was palpable. However, he refrained from saying anything more.

"Alright, I’m turning on the flashlight now. But no matter what you see, please stay quiet. If you panic, the only ones getting hurt will be yourselves. You’re all high school students. Surely you have this much common sense, right?" After provoking them for a while, Tang finally switched on his tactical flashlight.
