Chapter 225: Chapter 45 Another One Dead

"It’s just a small fire, what’s the fuss about? Old Lin, go grab the fire extinguisher, it’s in the kitchen." Tang Zheng had already inspected the entire villa and knew where all the essential items were kept. His primary concern now was to keep these newcomers in order.

"I know." Lin Weiguo knew he could not depend on these people, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"Make the call, what are you waiting for? We don’t speak Japanese." Zhang Lanyu yelled at Liu Nai and Lu Fan, who could speak Japanese. She didn’t have the guts to order Tang Zheng and Yin Shangwu around.

"Don’t bother, it’s no use. They’ve definitely blocked the signal." Tang Zheng remained calm, pondering what the other side meant by bringing in a street racing gang.

"Can’t get through." Liu Nai tried both the landline and the mobile phone and helplessly spread out her hands; all she got was a busy signal.

"Will they break in?" Ai Li leaned against Tang Zheng, a bit nervous. Liu Nai went into the bedroom and fetched her Tachi, strapping it on her waist. "If they dare to come in, I’ll cut them down."

Liu Nai clearly underestimated the madness of these street racers. A few minutes later, some of them continued to circle the villa on their motorcycles, while others charged towards the main entrance with baseball bats, threateningly demanding they open the door.

"What should we do?" Hu Meng, holding her MP5 submachine gun, was shaking. The Leopard Print Woman squatted next to the wall, constantly murmuring her son’s name, as if it gave her courage.

"Zhang Hao, you’re good at intimidation, so go chase them away." Tang Zheng singled out Zhang Hao deliberately praising him and assigned the dangerous task to him.

"Ha ha, can I kill them? Well, at least, I can gravely injure them, right?" Zhang Hao grinned proudly, thinking that Tang Zheng finally recognized his worth. After making a jest, he went towards the door.

"Beware of the aliens." Tang Zheng warned him and then frowned, "Aliens often appear with crowds. The Russian Trojan Squad wouldn’t be crazy enough to use them as cannon fodder, would they?"

"They can control the aliens?" Zhang Lanyu exclaimed in surprise. Remembering that she had a gun, she wanted to go back and get it but was afraid to move alone. So she turned to the policeman, "Can you accompany me?"

"With pleasure." The policeman tried his best to be gentlemanly and offered his arm to her. Zhang Lanyu tried to conceal her disgust and reluctantly held onto his arm.

"With me here, rest assured, no one can hurt you." The policeman hummed with satisfaction and went upstairs.

"They can’t control the aliens, but they can use this rule to their advantage by artificially increasing the number of alien appearances, then use them to drain our strength." Tang Zheng stood up, not concerned about the commotion at the door. He took out his Thunderstorm rifle. "Be on your guard."

"Aren’t they two in danger then?" Hu Meng was a bit worried.

"They will not be that unlucky." Tang Zheng tried to sound reassuring but he secretly wished that the two could lure out the hidden aliens or even the Russians. This was why he didn’t stop them. Their fate would depend on their luck as bait.

"Doesn’t the Russian team fear Liu Nai’s death?" Bai Guo couldn’t understand, "This is too risky of a move."

"So, I suspect that they can appear in time to save Liu Nai when she’s in danger. Hmm, based on this assumption, they must be monitoring us." The memory of the beetle monitor he captured came to Tang Zheng’s mind. Instead of making an effort to find it, he decided to leave the room.

Zhang Hao’s roar echoed from outside. Apparently, the negotiation failed, and violence ensued.

"If we fall under attack, old Lin, Qin Yan, Yin Shangwu, Bai Guo, the three of you take care of Liu Nai. Zhang Hao, Sister Xin Lan, and I will protect Ai Li." Tang Zheng started assigning tasks but was interrupted by Hu Meng before he could finish.

"What about us newcomers, huh? Are you planning to abandon us again?" Hu Meng was still resentful. Before she could say more, a drop of fluid landed on her neck. She felt a burning sensation and instinctively wiped it, continuing to rant, "We really are nothing more than cannon fodder."

Another drop. Hu Meng looked up in annoyance but immediately turned pale, her lips trembling without uttering a word.

Damn it, seeing the terrified expression on the college girl, Tang Zheng knew there must be a creature on the ceiling. Without even a glance upward, he lunged toward Ai Li, shouted a warning to take cover, raised his gun to aim above Hu Meng’s head, and pulled the trigger.

Others didn’t have Tang Zheng’s reflexes. They instinctively looked upward and were immediately terrified. On the white, tiled ceiling, seven or eight aliens crawled, and there was even one hanging from the chandelier. More were silently emerging from the walls of the kitchen and bedrooms.

Tang Zheng’s Thunderball bombarded the roof, bringing down many fragments, but did not achieve any kills, and this attack also started the onslaught between the two sides.

Everyone almost instantly lifted their muzzles and shot at the ceiling, the firing sounds mingling together. The aliens, whose presence had been discovered, no longer waited for their kind. They pushed off with all fours and bolted down like dumplings in hot water.

"Maintain continuous firepower." Tang Zheng’s call came too late. Within just a few seconds, everyone except Lin Weiguo, Qin Yan, and Yin Shangwu had emptied their clips, leaving only the click-clack of their triggers. A lull in firepower occurred, immediately providing the aliens with the opportunity to attack.

Except for three that pounced towards Liu Nai and Ai Li, the rest swooped towards the nearest targets.

Tang Zheng and Yin Shangwu had the power but couldn’t use it as the aliens and humans were tangled in combat. Their weapons’ firepower was too powerful; they would kill the people along with the aliens.

"God damn it!" Lin Weiguo cursed. The alien’s skin was too tough. It barreled forwards, enduring the bullet hits on its body.

Tang Zheng bit his lip, preparing to switch to his double-handed Slaughter Axe for melee combat.

"Tang Zheng, don’t try to save those caught by the aliens. Don’t be stupid." Seeing Tang Zheng trying to save those entangled by aliens, Yin Shangwu immediately stopped him, "This is not the time to be kind-hearted, their fate is out of our hands."

"Fuck your mother!" Upon hearing Yin Shangwu’s words, Hu Meng cursed and then uttered the last words of her life. An alien knocked her to the ground, its front claws pressing on her shoulders. Without waiting for Hu Meng to struggle, it opened its mouth and its strong, acid-coated tongue shot out like a javelin, penetrating directly through her left cheek and pinning Hu Meng’s twitching head to the ground.

With a splatter, warm blood sprayed everywhere as the alien withdrew its tongue. Hu Meng’s head slumped to the side like a rotten watermelon, a horrific blood hole surrounded by torn flesh opened on it.

The policeman and Zhang Lanyu, who were just coming downstairs, saw this scene, their legs turned to jelly from fright, and without any hesitation, ran back upstairs.

The obese man’s seat was always close to Liu Nai, which indirectly saved his life. Because Yin Shangwu was protecting Liu Nai and cleared the aliens surrounding them, Little Fan Fan quickly crawled under the sofa, pulled out her handgun and Little Lolita was smart enough to stay close to Ai Li, knowing that if a monster attacked, Tang Zheng, even if he wanted to protect her, would have no choice but to prioritize Ai Li and Liu Nai. Liu Nai was tough to get along with, so Little Lolita chose to stay with Ai Li. This wise decision spared her a death.

The leopard print woman was rather isolated and rarely spoke, often staying far away from the group. But this time, it was a blessing in disguise, as the primary targets of the alien attack were two girls. However, a few tens of seconds later, an alien had its sights set on her.

The moment the leopard print woman saw the alien attack, she wanted to turn around and run, but reason told her that she could only survive by staying with Tang Zheng and Yin Shangwu. So she forced herself to run towards Tang Zheng, not stopping even when an alien was pouncing in their direction. This decision again saved her life.

Seeing the leopard print woman running towards him, Tang Zheng killed several aliens pouncing towards her, clearing a passage.

"What do we do?" Pang Meiqin screamed, frantically loading another clip.

"No more aliens are rushing out, let’s deal with this batch first." Yin Shangwu remained cool-headed, glanced at the quiet doorway and said, "Zhang Hao, if you’re still alive, give a shout. Don’t play dead."

"I’ve got a facehugger here, you know." Zhang Hao tried to fend off, feeling threatened by Yin Shangwu’s domineering presence, and reluctantly came in to start attacking the aliens.

"Next time I catch you slacking off, you’d better take care of yourself." Yin Shangwu’s icy expression was like an eternal winter, and Zhang Hao didn’t dare to make a peep.

"Last one." After Bai Guo shouted, he did not relax. He hurriedly reloaded his F-GUN, while Pang Meiqin sat on the sofa, panting hard.

"My heart can’t handle all this." Li Yuanhang, who survived the calamity, started to miss Tie Ying and wondered how to stay alive. He recalled Zhang Hao’s words from last night and planned to run away. Given his physique, staying here was a certain path to death. He would eventually be killed by the aliens and those so-called Ironblood Warriors, not to mention the lurking Russian team. If he ran away, there was a high chance of survival, but also a risk of death that came if Liu Nai died.

"But the chances of that happening are small. After all, both parties are protecting her. If I run away, it’s like betting my life on Tang Zheng and Yin Shangwu. If they win, I live. Otherwise, we die together." Li Yuanhang was good at weighing the pros and cons. Once he found a solution that increased his chances of survival, his heart yearned to flee even more.

"If I steal a mountaineering bag full of money, even if I die, I can enjoy a good life for a month. It’s much better than struggling to stay alive here." Li Yuanhang told himself to stay calm and seize the best opportunity to leave.

"Damn, another one’s dead." Looking at Hu Meng’s corpse, Zhang Hao felt that it was a pity he didn’t get a chance to have some fun with her. As for the leopard print woman, he wasn’t interested. "There’s still Zhang Lanyu. I hope she dies later." (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote for recommendation, monthly tickets.
