Chapter 221: Chapter 42: Rules of Victory and Defeat

With the death of the Conqueror, Sergey, the fleshy vine entwined around Tang Zheng’s body also lost its vitality and restraint, becoming lax.

Thump, Tang Zheng collapsed to the ground, holding his throat and coughing twice before taking big gasps of air. His neck was all bruised red. If it wasn’t for the protection of the firefly and Bai Guo’s life-saving shot, Tang Zheng’s throat bone would have been strangled into shards.

The time limit for gravity suppression was up, and because of the overuse of seed ability, Tang Zheng’s limbs instantly felt tired. His muscles were so sore and weak that they could no longer support his body, and he abruptly fell to the ground.

"Brother Tang." Bai Guo stumbled over, in the less than two-minute combat just now, her only contribution had been a single shot, otherwise, she hadn’t been any significant help.

Although the continuous deaths had somewhat numbed Liu Nai’s brain, seeing Sergey’s body cut in half, with his brain pulp and white spine exposed to the air in a horrifying scene, she vomited again.

"You’ve done well." Tang Zheng praised, disregarding filth, he crawled directly through the pool of blood towards Sergey’s body to check it.

"No space backpack?" Bai Guo ripped open his clothes to reveal the protective clothing underneath, with nothing else of value.

"Take the buttons and the belt, they might be props. However, the secret should be on this wristwatch." Tang Zheng gave it a pluck. But the wristwatch was buckled so tightly that he bit his lip in despair before picking up the bronze sword and hacking at Sergey’s wrist.

Ah, Liu Nai cried out. Watching Tang Zheng chop off the wrist of the dead man like a hard-working lumberjack, picking up a blood-stained silver wristwatch from the amputated arm with exposed bone, she felt her stomach acid churning once again.

"Don’t just stand there, grab the axe, and let’s leave quickly before anyone else blocks us." Tang Zheng sat up, stripping off his blood-soaked sportswear, that, being human blood, was not refreshed.

"It weighs about thirty pounds." Bai Guo, with the axe in one hand and Tang Zheng’s arm draped over her shoulder, helped him to leave. Liu Nai came to her senses and hurried over to help as well.

Tang Zheng’s arm instantly felt the warmth of Liu Nai’s neck skin. Due to the difference in height and arm reach, and because Liu Nai was standing so close, Tang Zheng let his arm hang.

The three finally stepped out of the subway station, basking in the warm sunlight, but Zhang Yifeng and Tie Ying were left in the eternal darkness below. It cost them ten thousand yen, and finally, they were able to get a taxi. Only when they returned to the villa in Setagaya district and met up with the rest, did Tang Zheng finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Upon hearing the noise, Li Xinlan and Pang Meiqin rushed downstairs. Seeing Tang Zheng lying on the sofa, looking pale, Qin Yan brought out three cups of water for them, considerately not asking any questions, and letting them rest first.

Ai Li also came running down, looking at Tang Zheng with concern but didn’t say anything.

"Was it an attack? You didn’t get hurt, did you?" Pang Meiqin squatted beside Tang Zheng, touching his forehead, then began to check his body, fully showing her concern.

"I’m fine." Tang Zheng pushed Pang Meiqin’s hand away and scanned the room. Li Yuanhang and Zhang Hao were walking down the stairs, followed by Hu Meng and Yin Shangwu. "Where’s Zhang Lanyu and the policeman?"

"They’re surfing the internet in their rooms." Zhang Hao replied, a sardonic smile on his face. "How did you make such a mess just by asking for leave? Oh, did you happen to see Zhang Yifeng and Tie Ying?"

Liu Nai hesitated, not knowing what to say, but Bai Guo calmly responded, "They’re dead."

"You’re talking nonsense." Hu Meng, who had previously not cared and had her eyes wandering around, wouldn’t have come down if she wasn’t afraid of being labelled non-social. At the moment, she was still mad at Zhang Yifeng. She had noticed her boyfriend’s interest in Liu Nai, so cold war started, yet she did not expect to hear such an unexpected answer.

When Li Yuanhang heard that the bodyguard had died, he furrowed his brows, glanced at Zhang Hao, and then regained his composure.

"It was the Ironblood Warrior who killed them. Oh, a new monster has appeared." Bai Guo quickly clarified and roughly described the events. However, when it came to the Russian hulk, she stole a glance at Tang Zheng, confirmed he agreed, then told the story. During this time, Zhang Lanyu walked down, and the policeman was still nowhere to be seen.

"Impossible, you must be joking." Hu Meng grabbed her hair, disbelief written all over her face. "Why are you still alive while Zhang Yifeng and Tie Ying are dead? Aren’t they stronger than you?"

"It was Brother Tang who protected me." Bai Guo gave a wry smile. "They were really unlucky."

"Bullshit luck, you must have used them as meat shields, right? You all got away and left them behind to die." Hu Meng hysterically screamed, the thought of her boyfriend’s death and the lost opportunity to marry into a wealthy family provoked her into rage. "I know Zhang Yifeng targeted Tang Zheng. So, is that why you let my boyfriend die, right?"

Seeing that Tang Zheng kept silent, Hu Meng took it as a confirmation of her accusations, which triggered her anger further. "You are so strong, how could you have possibly lost to the alien? You must be eliminating those who are obstacles. Haha, we are all going to die and end up being stepping stones for your survival."

"Enough." Yin Shangwu walked over, slapped her across the face, sending her sprawled to the ground. If she had not held back, that slap might have knocked out all her teeth. The other four flight attendants were keen on doing the same, ready to take action and stop her. Insulting Tang Zheng was a grave crime.

"Xin Lan, Qin Yan, take her to a room and let her cool down." Tang Zheng waved his hand; it was time for his subordinates to step up. If he had to defend himself its would be humiliating.

With a sneer, Zhang Lanyu watched as Hu Meng was taken away; she muttered to herself that Hu Meng was an idiot. To offend Tang Zheng at such a time meant she would lose his protection. As for Tang Zheng abandoning them, Zhang Lanyu didn’t believe it at all. She could tell at a glance that he was the kind of naïve boy who was filled with a sense of justice and yet to experience the real world; he is best to use.

"Tang Zheng, don’t take it to heart. She was just venting out, we all trust you." Zhang Lanyu smiled, playing her cards slowly. She knew about Tie Ying’s strength and was shocked to hear about his death. Therefore, she began to consider her options. Count on Li Yuanhang? That man was only interested in her body; expecting him to die for her? ridiculous. As for Zhang Hao? He was ruthless. The policeman was an option, she could use him, only if he didn’t demand too much.

"You’re saying the Russian Trojan Squad also entered into this game?" Zhang Hao frowned, "With the same mission as ours?"

"They should be here to protect Liu Nai as well. If it was to kill her, they would’ve had many chances." Tang Zheng recalled that Sergey hadn’t actually tried to attack Liu Nai.

"Can’t we just collaborate then? Why the fighting? Just protect Liu Nai for a month and we are safe." Li Yuanhang brightened up as though he had thought of a good idea, "Why can’t we have a win-win situation?"

"So naïve, do you think the Trojans haven’t thought about this loophole? After a month, if you don’t have control over Liu Nai and Ai Li, you’ll be declared as having failed the mission. We’ve experienced these kind of rules before." Yin Shangwu, having lived through a dozen games, was experienced with the game rules.

"Does mission failure lead to death?" Pang Meiqin was always most concerned about this.

"The Trojans will make the decision based on who had control over the target girl for longer during the month. If the mission fails, they will deduct points. Once the points go into the negative, you are undoubtedly dead. Of course, if the girl dies, both Trojan Squads die too." Yin Shangwu intentionally made this point to Tang Zheng. Because no matter what, his points could never be negative. As for Shang Wu, after hearing about the Russian team, she couldn’t help but foster a desire to kill them. "Could it be the Vodka Squad?"

The team turned to look towards Tang Zheng, after all, he was the strongest amongst them. If he were to slack off due to safety concerns, everyone’s fate would be unclear.

"Rest assured, I will protect Liu Nai till the end. Also, we need to heighten our alertness now, the Russian team will soon be coming to get Liu Nai." Tang Zheng made a promise.

"No matter what, you will surely survive." Zhang Lanyu looked desolate. "What is the Trojan planning on doing? This is way too unfair for the newcomers."

"Hey, I can survive too!" Zhang Hao was enraged at being overlooked by Zhang Lanyu. However, he was secretly pleased and couldn’t help adding, "As long as we protect Liu Nai for more than fifteen days, we can relax and enjoy sightseeing in Japan. Let the Russian team worry about how to protect Liu Nai."

On hearing these irresponsible remarks, Liu Nai immediately glared at Zhang Hao.

"That idea is not bad!" Pang Meiqin found the idea terrific. "But once we have the control for more than 15 days, they will certainly come to kill us. As long as we die, they should win."

"Are you stupid? Do you think Japan isn’t big enough to hide?" Zhang Hao was firm about his decision. With both teams protecting Liu Nai, the safety index would greatly increase. As for the battle, let Tang Zheng worry about that.

’Don’t be overly optimistic, because the Russian team is thinking the same way.’ Yin Shangwu glanced at the two idiots and warned, "Killing members from the other Trojan Squads have their benefits. Tang Zheng, you have received the bonus points, right?"

"Yes, a few moments ago the wristwatch informed me that I successfully killed a Conqueror from another room. I was rewarded with five hundred points and a bronze seed."

"The reward is so generous? Killing twenty could get you out of the game, right?" Pang Meiqin’s eyes lit up, she licked her lips corner, eager to find the opponents and fight.

"Do you think Conquerors are cabbages?" Yin Shangwu laughed. This woman was really hopeless, always daydreaming.

"Let’s change locations. It’s not safe here. Once the Russian team is alerted of their teammate’s death, they will know they have been exposed. They might abandon their planned preparations and launch their attack sooner. So we leave tonight." Tang Zheng stood up, Li Xinlan immediately went over to help him. "I’m going upstairs to sleep, wake me up when you’re ready to go. Also, from now on, someone needs to be with Liu Nai twenty-four hours a day. Qin Yan, you go first." (To be continued.
