Chapter 1587: Chapter 49: Great Peril
The Germans, being the smallest in number, were the first to fall into misfortune. Their Group Leader reacted quickly, seeing a burly chief nearly two and a half meters tall descending from the sky, he swiftly unleashed his Ability.
Boom, the chief swung his arm powerfully, the bone Curved knife vibrated, sending out a blast of Wind Power that blocked the attack and then he swung his arm to throw a Javelin.
Because of the high speed, the Javelin head rubbed against the air creating a mottled pattern of sparks and then, leaving a trail of afterimage, it nailed into a German’s chest.
Boom, the Javelin pierced through, and the German, with a hole blasted through him, collapsed with clumps of Broken Flesh scattering in a fan-shaped area behind him.
The Natives crawling on the ground panicked even more, loudly pleading for mercy.
"FU~CK, Level 4 Hero!" The pallor of the German Group Leader changed, within two breaths, three of his men were dead, including two Level 2 Heroes—they didn’t even block a single strike before their Shields were shattered and they were turned into pulverized meat.
The Swedes, not numerous either, also got entangled, but they were pursued by a third-order chief, whose strength was weaker, resulting in a stalemate.
"Group Leader, help." The Swedes sought assistance from the French, unfortunately without response.
"Retreat, full-speed retreat, forget the Natives." Shouted the French, pulling out a war chariot and diving into it at maximum speed, launching the vehicle with a Thunderous Roar, kicking up a lot of sand dust.
"Everyone, get on the car, fast!" Dantai also roared, urging everyone to board. The enemy was too strong, a fourth-order chief without Superpowers but relying on his tough physique and strength, enough to kill a third-order.
The abilities that landed on them caused very limited damage.
The Conquerors moved very fast, not burdening themselves with concern; the Newbies were clumsy and even someone got so scared they fell headlong. Tang Zheng pulled two Newbies and threw them into the war chariot.
"No flying vehicles." Dantai saw Jiang Xiuming about to retrieve a Helicopter to flee, and quickly reminded him.
Pterosaurs beat their gigantic wings, hovering and patrolling the skies, monitoring the ground.
Dantai estimated that the chiefs’ intention must be to annihilate their opponents completely; if their prey fled from the ground, they were confident they could catch up, but once their side flew, they would most likely be targeted first for elimination.
Jiang Xiuming hesitated for a moment, but eventually gave up on piloting the Helicopter, after all, the deputy Group Leader was meticulous in thought and seldom made mistakes.
"We can take advantage of the time the chief is killing others to escape for a while, then drive the flying vehicle to leave." Tang Zheng and Dantai exchanged glances, quickly understanding each other’s thoughts.
Relying on other Trojan Squads to deplete the chief’s strength, and then launch a sure-kill strike against them, Tang Zheng and Dantai were not the type to like running away; moreover, they understood that to survive and return, they must kill a significant number of Group Leaders.
"Idiot, get on the Helicopter!" A British Conqueror cursed his comrade as foolish, pulling out a futuristic Armed Helicopter.
In just five seconds, the Helicopter was airborne.
"Hmph, a bunch of fools, how could car wheels surpass a flying craft?" The British gloated, but the next second, his expression froze.
The chief hammering the Swedes pouted, blowing out a loud and bossy whistle that reverberated across the sky.
Two Pterosaurs, like released Crossbow arrows, crashed full-speed into the Helicopter, and another dropped towards its master, rapidly climbing when it neared about five meters.
The chief, while running, compressed his body and then using his legs as if they were fitted with springs, sprang onto the Pterosaur’s back, in his hand, he still held a Conqueror, who struggled only a few times before being squeezed until his body burst, spilling blood and flesh.
The Pterosaur dived, not forgetting to spew out flames, burning several human-shaped torches.
"Quick, quick, quick, retreat!" The Swedes, favored by the misfortune, urged in a rush.
The British muttered an angry "FU~CK," never dreaming he would become the focus of the attack, hurriedly firing Rocket shells. He thought about landing but knew that doing so would definitely be entangled by the chief. It’s better to gamble everything on a full-speed escape.
The British underestimated the Pterosaur’s speed and didn’t anticipate the power of a fourth-order. Taking advantage of the two Pterosaurs’ interception to gain time, the chief threw his Javelin with all his might.
Boom, like a surface-to-air Missile, the Javelin directly penetrated the tail of the Helicopter, exploding in a blaze of fire.
Using his rugged physical fitness, the chief leapt, successfully landing on the Helicopter.
The British released his Ability, but it was hardly effective.
Bang, bang, just two punches, and the Helicopter was smashed apart, and the British plummeted from a high altitude—being able to control the balance and safely land was fortunate enough, let alone counterattacking.
The chief grabbed a Metal sheet and flung it, then stamped on a fragment, launching himself forward. The British might block the metal sheet, but couldn’t block the chief; in a blur, his body was torn apart.
The casual killing of a Level 2 Hero made the Group Leaders become very solemn.
Hissing, watching the rain of blood spread across the sky, Jiang Xiuming inhaled a gulp of cold air, glad that he’d listened to Dantai’s words, otherwise, it would have been him hanging now; he had no confidence in blocking a chief’s attack in the sky.
The Swedes had just released their flying vehicle when they saw this scene and hurriedly gave it up.
"Quick, full speed!" Dantai remained unfazed, his brain working overtime, considering the overall situation. He was pessimistic about the battle situation. The Warhammer team had too many people. Once attacked, following Tang Zheng’s character, he would definitely come to the rescue.
"Damn, the best strategy is to use the newbies to delay time and lure the prey onto other Trojan squads." Dantai calculated his hand of cards, finding them difficult to play.
The third chief targeted the Russians with a fierce and reckless fighting style, completely disregarding his own safety.
Three weaklings tried to retreat but ended up being targeted. The chiefs were primitive people with simple thoughts; their tactic was to start killing from the weakest to quickly reduce the number of enemies and avoid being surrounded.
The prey wanted to retreat and the panic on their faces was the most obvious signal, so the weaklings were doomed.
The German Group Leader launched a full-force attack again, leaving a deep gash on the chief, but the opponent was indifferent, with the smell of blood only spiking his fighting spirit.
The Group Leader gritted his teeth and decisively armed the Hellfire, preparing to abandon his subordinates and flee.
The chief’s eyes sharpened instantly, dropping the others, and with an electric shot aimed at the German Group Leader, he overexerted, creating a big pit with a cloud of dust rising.
Xu Biyun, through the rearview mirror, saw the German Group Leader last less than a minute, along with his head, turned into minced meat.
"Silver Trojan is playing us, right? I think capturing a thousand natives is much easier than killing a chief." The female gamer felt powerless, and everyone inside the vehicle, including Tang Zheng and Mu Nianqi, wore tense expressions; the enemies were simply too strong.
"Let’s run!" Jiang Xiuming sighed, his mind in turmoil and unable to figure out a way.
From a high altitude, those gathered natives at this moment looked like ants drenched in boiling water, scurrying in panic, and any slow ones were affected.
"Chief, are you abandoning us?" A strong female native followed Tang Zheng’s war chariot with a few loyal subordinates, their faces filled with panic and desolation.
"From now on, you are free." Tang Zheng emerged from the war chariot, exhaled loudly, "Hurry up and flee!"
"Silver probably didn’t screw us over this time, it’s just our bad luck." Tang Zheng sighed, assessing the situation, reassuring the others, or else with this low morale, there was no need for a BOSS fight, just admit defeat directly.
The Trojan hijacker, who had seized Silver Trojan’s permissions, offered the conditions for passing the level of collecting a thousand natives and becoming a chief, which seemed simple but actually involved a hidden mission.
It’s not just a matter of one person capturing a thousand slaves to be able to leave; the entire team must meet the goal. Otherwise, the Warhammer team would have collected over two thousand natives and could easily send two people away.
Tang Zheng’s team had too many people, including newbies, needing to capture over forty thousand natives to pass the level, which was a huge problem indeed.
The Conquerors had an overwhelming advantage against the natives, and once defeated, even Tang Zheng couldn’t stop those Level 3 Heroes and the natives from perishing together.
If Tang Zheng’s team battle failed, he would do the same, engage in guerrilla warfare targeting natives, and simply brace for the worst.
This actually was the Trojan hijacker forcing the survivors into team battles. The more people who died, the fewer natives needed, but in the end, they would realize how harsh the hidden condition for passing was.
Killing the Great Chief and ten Level 4 Hero chiefs was a task that even the world’s top five teams had to risk annihilation to complete, let alone other teams.
"Twenty chiefs, if they’re all from small tribes, would at most be Level 1 Heroes, very easy to handle." Dantai bit his teeth and made a decision, "Tang Zheng, you and Mu Nianqi go and kill the chiefs."
"You’re crazy, we’ll definitely die then." Jiang Xiuming shouted out, fearing that Tang Zheng would agree.
"It’s the best way, we can’t defeat the chiefs anyway, let’s just stay back as bait." Li Xinlan nodded in agreement, "If Tang Zheng can timely kill the twenty chiefs, we might survive."
"I agree!" the old soldier concurred, the other Conquerors had no objection, and although the newbies were discontent, they didn’t have a say here.
"If you guys are leaving, I’m definitely not staying. Only someone who’s taken the wrong meds would stay and die with you." Jiang Xiuming thought these people must be out of their minds to agree with Dantai’s suggestion, given the chiefs’ strength, maybe as soon as Tang Zheng left, the enemy would strike.
"Stop arguing, I’m not leaving." Tang Zheng waved his hand, he had left some electronic eyes before leaving to monitor the battlefield.
The Swedes, facing near annihilation, finally burst forth with full force, but still just fell short of killing the Level 3 Hero chief; it only inflicted heavy damage because the chief who annihilated the Germans joined the battle and after finishing them off, pursed the Swedes with two others.
The Russian team was still struggling like trapped beasts; the chief probably hurried to save time, so they took some hits that could have been avoided.
"Be careful!" Pang Meiqin had just finished shouting when there was a loud explosion nearby, shaking the war chariot, but Dantai’s group was prepared, so there were no damages.
The British and the French teamed up to attack the Chinese, trying to make their war chariot fail to attract the chief’s fire.
"Counterattack!" Dantai was not to be outdone, "Turn left, split up and go." (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to come to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast recommendation tickets and monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
