Chapter 1541 - 3: Confrontation

Chapter 1541: Chapter 3: Confrontation

Before entering Trojan World, Tang Zheng was just a university student with the simplest of social relations. The most prominent person he had seen was the Dean, and as for the Chancellor, he had only glimpsed him from a distance during the opening ceremony and had long forgotten what he looked like.

While working part-time at the Supermarket, Tang Zheng did get to know An Xiuru, who could be considered one of the upper-class people, but she would definitely not send out this kind of invitation.

"Definitely related to someone in Trojan World?" Tang Zheng called his group members one by one, and in the end, it was confirmed that only Mu Nianqi had received the envelope. After careful thought, he came to terms with it; as a key figure in the once-leading team, it was natural for her to attract attention.

Jiang Xiuming lost the qualification to attend the gatherings because he had left the game for a whole year and, moreover, was not the group leader.

During the next two days, Tang Zheng couldn’t avoid it; Li Xinlan’s mindset wavered, and she never showed up, but Pang Meiqin did not mind such things and stuck close to him.

After spending two days with the Beautiful Leg Stewardess and declining her offer to accompany him, Tang Zheng drove the Cayenne and arrived at Bluebird KTV before eight in the evening.

A group of young men and women were gathered not far from the entrance of the KTV, waiting for someone, when a girl, bored and looking around, suddenly commented.

"I think I just saw Tang Zheng."

"Who? The one who dropped out of school half a year ago? Where is he?"

Because of Mu Nianqi, Tang Zheng had become well known within the university.

This group had once been in the same department as Tang Zheng and had seen him numerous times during lectures in the auditorium; the girl who spoke was Tang Zheng’s former classmate.

"The parking lot, there, just got out of a BMW!" Xie Yundan pointed in the direction and, observing Tang Zheng under the illumination of the streetlights dressed in a black suit, looking tall and fit, couldn’t help but be amazed, "Seems like he has become a successful person, huh?"

"Pssh, he must be hanging on to some wealthy woman. Otherwise, the Cayenne is probably just borrowed." Looking at another student who was already exhibiting wealth and demeanor on a different level than himself, a tall boy who was full of himself scoffed contemptuously.

"Gao Shuang, how do you know he’s hooked up with a wealthy woman? Can you tell fortunes or something?" A long-haired girl wearing a long dress flicked her hair hanging before her face to her ear and covered her mouth to giggle.

Her name was Bai Xia, and she liked the tall and handsome Gao Shuang, so she deliberately played along to please him.

"That guy’s parents are just workers, and he’s no second-generation rich kid, so where does the money come from for a BMW? He must have borrowed some nice clothes just to bluff his way through," Gao Shuang thought to himself that he had shown his feelings too openly and quickly covered his disdain and jealousy with an indifferent expression, even praising him a bit, "This guy has already started working hard; he’s worth learning from."

"Learn what? Without a diploma as a stepping stone, his achievements will be very limited. He won’t qualify to work in big state-owned or private companies." Zhu Huarong glanced at Tang Zheng without much interest and spoke to Le Song, whom he had recently been pursuing next to him.

"That’s true." The young men and women nodded, starting to fantasize about their future lives and careers.

"Hey, did you guys hear about the rumor between Tang Zheng and the Student Union President a while back?" Xie Yundan originally wanted to go greet an old classmate but seeing her friends were not interested, she feared being isolated, so she gave up and brought up a topic instead.

"Tch, he thinks he can pursue President Mu? Dream on. Do you know what kind of background Mu Nianqi’s family has?" Zhu Huarong assumed a disdainful demeanor, "Not even worthy to carry her shoes."

Xie Yundan and Bai Xia found Zhu Huarong’s words quite harsh, but they didn’t say anything; after all, they were still schoolmates, and there was no need to fall out over someone who had left school.

"You sure sound sour. He hasn’t provoked you; what’s with the passive-aggressive attitude?" The speaker was a short-haired girl with light makeup on, wearing elegant and fashionable clothes, holding a Louis Vuitton handbag worth over ten thousand.

Wealth can bring confidence, and as a girl who could be considered a second-generation rich, Fang Zhiwen always did as she pleased.

"I’m just telling the truth. If it weren’t for Mu Nianqi frequently taking leaves recently, Shen Jiashu would’ve pursued her long ago, that’s a real elite. I heard he has already started helping with the family business," Zhu Huarong’s tone softened somewhat.

"Oh please, he’s good at spending money, but do you think Mu Nianqi would like him? And why isn’t Shen Jiashu here yet? If he’s five minutes later, I’m leaving." Fang Zhiwen hated waiting for people, but she still had to entertain an invitation from Shen Jiashu, although saying she would leave was just a complaint.

Following the server to the designated private room, just as Tang Zheng was about to knock on the door, a rough and brawny man reeking of alcohol yanked the door open, blocking the entrance.

"You’re right on time, go call some girls over, I’m getting impatient waiting here," the brawny man saw the server and grabbed his collar, pulling him forward with his demand.

"Sir, this is a legitimate entertainment venue," the server was clearly frightened, as the man’s strong hand was firm and unshakeable like a pair of pincers.

"Why the fuss? Just get your manager over here. It’s only about money; I’m not lacking any."

Tang Zheng peered through the crack in the door, scanning over the nine people already seated inside. As for the man in front of him, he was not as rough as he seemed. From his quick, sneaky glance at Tang Zheng, one could deduce he was a man with a rough exterior but a finer substance.

"Are you here for the party too? Come on in." The burly man pushed aside the waiter and greeted Tang Zheng, "Why so formal? It’s just a private meeting."

"Habit." Tang Zheng replied indifferently, he was just tired of matching clothes, wearing a suit was the simplest.

As he entered the private room, Tang Zheng immediately felt five sharp gazes sweeping over him, brazenly sizing him up, almost as if they could peel off his skin.

"Hey, be nice everyone, don’t scare our friend." A man fiddled with a microphone and teased Tang Zheng, "Oh, and he’s a handsome guy."

Tang Zheng frowned, found a seat, and sat down, observing that these people didn’t seem like the organizers.

"What will you drink?" The microphone man was very sociable, of course, he was more intent on prying words out of Tang Zheng, as a pioneer scout, that was his occupational hazard.

"Thanks, I don’t drink." In an unfamiliar place, Tang Zheng didn’t want to eat anything; encountering a tricky Seed Ability User who might tamper with his food would be troublesome.

"Heh, quite cautious." The microphone man was nonplussed. Seeing he couldn’t fish out any information, he left.

"Coward." The burly man muttered, disliking these handsome types, believing that muscles were king.

"Say that again, and I guarantee your teeth will be knocked out!" Tang Zheng leaned forward, his gaze fierce like a ferocious beast, pinning the burly man.

"What did you say?" The burly man was stunned for a moment, then enraged, seized a wine bottle, and with a bang, smashed it on the table, the shards of glass and the spilling wine flying everywhere.

The gaze of the eight people shifted back, pondering. Normally, one would remain silent in the face of such casual provocation in strange surroundings, but this guy was actively antagonistic.

"Brute!"

"Sly!"

The eight people mentally assigned different labels, and the microphone man’s intuition told him that the youth wouldn’t be so reckless. Clearly, this guy was deliberately creating a false image to mask his true character.

With a quirk of his mouth, Tang Zheng revealed eight dazzling white teeth and said nothing. He crossed his arms, leaned back on the sofa, and provocatively watched the burly man.

"You’re asking for it!" The burly man was so furious he wanted to die, but he didn’t dare to smash the jagged bottle he was holding.

"Idiot, you’ve exposed yourself completely." More than one person sneered at the burly man.

Tang Zheng’s eyes moved imperceptibly, surveying people’s expressions and reactions to gather information. As for the man before him, Tang Zheng had already labeled him as unfit for the public eye.

Just from that finely disguised scoff, Tang Zheng knew this guy was no brute, plus the act of smashing the bottle was obviously intended to assert his status. If he truly was enraged, his actions would involve throwing the bottle directly or flipping the table and fighting.

"Stop embarrassing yourself; he’s already figured out that you won’t make a move." A man playing with an agate ring on his finger suddenly chimed in, nodded towards Tang Zheng in a gesture of goodwill.

Tang Zheng’s demeanor had earned his approval.

"Why?" The burly man asked reflexively, then realized he’d been scoped out, his face turning beet red instantly.

"Because you don’t know who the organizer is, because not everyone has arrived yet, because you haven’t got the information you need, so no matter what, you’re going to wait, and that loud shout was just so you didn’t lose face; after all, Conquerors have good hearing, by default people would think you’re chickening out, it’s just that his calm reaction exceeded your expectations, so you were dumbstruck," the Agate Man’s analysis was meticulous, causing several people to nod involuntarily, and raising their opinion of both him and Tang Zheng.

"These two, best not offend lightly." In the Trojan World, Conquerors least want to deal with those who are cautious, have a high IQ, and like to play tricks and psychological games because you can’t possibly guess their real thoughts, and you would frequently fall for their traps.

"All I need is the adoration of women, men can step aside!" Tang Zheng cursed inwardly. The Agate Man seemed to admire him, but in fact, shattered the atmosphere he had created, aiming to make him show his true colors. But he was underestimating Tang Zheng too much.

"So I should be to your taste?" The woman holding the classical cup swirled the whiskey inside, her eyes as sweetened with honey, sticking to Tang Zheng’s face, "Cheers!"

The woman downed the whiskey in one gulp, licked her red lips, and provocatively uncrossed her legs intentionally slowly, so much so that with Tang Zheng’s eyesight, he could clearly see her red lace panties beneath her ultra-short skirt.

"Sorry, your chest is too small." Tang Zheng shook his head, "And there’s a bit too much fat on your thighs."

"You..." The red-lipped woman didn’t get to explode in anger when the door was rudely pushed open, and two men walked in, reeking of bloodlust and with a strong scent of blood, obviously having just come from the game world, and heading straight to the KTV.
