Chapter 96 Morning Sickness
Chapter 96: Chapter 96 Morning Sickness
Xie Yanchuan pressed his lips together and after a moment whispered softly, "I’m worried I might mess up during the wedding."
Xu Jinzhi reached out her hand and hooked her finger at Xie Yanchuan. He was puzzled, but still moved closer to Xu Jinzhi, who then hooked her arm around his neck.
"What’s wrong?" Xie Yanchuan sounded hesitant, but he had a guess since Xu Jinzhi often did things like this. So, as he looked at Xu Jinzhi, a glint flashed briefly in his eyes.
With her arm around Xie Yanchuan’s neck, Xu Jinzhi didn’t even need to bow her head to kiss him.
She kissed Xie Yanchuan’s lips and lowered her voice intentionally, saying, "Don’t worry, nothing will go wrong. And even if it does, you can’t escape from it."
Xie Yanchuan looked at Xu Jinzhi and couldn’t help but lift the corners of his mouth, slightly relaxing.
Seeing Xie Yanchuan smile, Xu Jinzhi also smiled. She was actually a bit nervous herself but had been pretending to be calm.
By the time the rehearsal was over, it was already late. Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan then drove to another restaurant where both sets of parents had arranged to have dinner that day.
Their wedding was the day after tomorrow, but there was a tradition that the bride and groom should not see each other the day before the wedding.
So, they had arranged to finalize the wedding details tonight, making sure everything would go smoothly on the wedding day.
By the time Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan arrived, they were a bit late, but they had already informed their parents in advance.
However, Xu Jinzhi was still anxious because she wasn’t used to being late.
At the entrance to the private room, a waiter helped open the door, and the sound of laughter came from inside, where everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves greatly.
Xu Jinzhi was also pleased inside, not wanting her wedding to be a mess.
"They’re here." Xu Zhen heard the noise and glanced over, seeing Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan, his smile slightly fading.
They seemed to be getting along well. Xu Zhen was also pleased with Xie Yanchuan, satisfied by the Xie Family’s sincerity in marrying his daughter.
The only dissatisfaction he had was probably that Xu Jinzhi would truly belong to another family, even though he knew she was always his daughter. Yet, the feeling was still different.
"Dad," Xu Jinzhi called out, then looked towards everyone else, greeting them as she sat down in an empty seat.
"Did you go check out the hotel? How is it? Is there anything that hasn’t been sorted out?" He Shuying asked.
Xu Jinzhi shook her head, "Everything is fine."
"That’s good," He Shuying replied with a smile, though she didn’t have much of a mother-son relationship with her second son, she still wanted the best for her own child.
"It’s getting late, let’s talk while we eat," Xie Suian said.
The rest of the group had no objections, but Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help noticing Liang Shiyu.
Liang Shiyu, now married to Xie Linchuan, naturally came to such gatherings.
At this moment, the expression on Liang Shiyu’s face wasn’t very pleasant. There was no obvious displeasure, but it was clear she wasn’t happy.
Xu Jinzhi indifferently withdrew her gaze, having no strong opinions on the matter. Whether Liang Shiyu was happy or not didn’t affect her, as long as it did not disturb her wedding.
During the meal, everyone was still chatting back and forth. Xie Yanchuan was listening intently, even stopping his eating to focus on their conversations.
Xu Jinzhi felt a bit helpless and served Yanchuan some food, whispering, "It’s time to eat."
Yanchuan came back to his senses, glanced at Xu Jinzhi, said nothing, and silently began to eat, but he still looked at the elders from time to time.
Today, the main characters were Xie Yanchuan and Xu Jinzhi; even Xie Linchuan couldn’t get a word in, quietly serving Liang Shiyu food.
Liang Shiyu, seeing Linchuan beside her, felt uncomfortable at heart. She had originally thought that the Xie Family might have some opinions about Xu Jinzhi because of what had happened a couple of days ago.
But now, it seemed they had no grievances with Xu Jinzhi at all!
Liang Shiyu felt uncomfortable. Why was it that she had to leave the entertainment industry when she got together with Linchuan, while Xu Jinzhi, like her, could have her private life stirred up online with no objections from the Xie family?
Deep down, Liang Shiyu knew it was merely because her family background was inferior to Xu Jinzhi’s, which was why they had expectations of her but were so tolerant towards Jinzhi.
The more Shiyu thought about it, the more miserable she felt, even wanting to lose her temper.
While everyone was having a good time, a sudden sound of retching filled the private room; conversation stopped, and everyone turned their attention towards Shiyu.
Xie Linchuan quickly supported her by the arm, asking with concern, "Shiyu, what’s wrong?"
At that moment, Liang Shiyu turned her body, waiting for her discomfort to pass, worried she might vomit again, she hurriedly stood up and walked towards the restroom in the private room.
Linchuan also quickly stood up and followed her; they stood in front of the sink, Shiyu continuing to retch while Linchuan tenderly took care of her.
The dining table remained quiet, the smiles fading from everyone’s faces.
But no one could really comment on the matter; after all, Liang Shiyu was pregnant, and morning sickness was common. Who could blame her?
Even Xu Jinzhi had nothing to say; after all, she had been pregnant in her previous life and knew how hard it was for a pregnant woman to deal with morning sickness.
After a moment of silence, He Shuying stood up, smiling, and said, "I’ll go check on her."
So, He Shuying went to the restroom, asking in a low voice how Liang Shiyu was doing.
Liang Shiyu kept retching, her discomfort so severe that tears had already fallen from her eyes. When she looked up at Shuying, she seemed utterly pitiable.
He Shuying had always disapproved of Liang Shiyu, even though she had already left the entertainment circle, and Shuying was still not used to Shiyu. So despite their marriage, Shuying never showed her a pleasant face.
But seeing Shiyu now, Shuying couldn’t utter harsh words but softly said, "Are you feeling better?"
Liang Shiyu nodded, "Much better."
"That’s good," Shuying then looked towards Linchuan. "Do you want to continue eating or go back to rest for now?"
"I’m fine, it’s just a hassle for everyone," Shiyu said first.
Shuying paused, looking at Shiyu with a slight scrutiny in her eyes.
