Chapter 93: Chapter 93 I’m Back
Hearing impatience in Xu Jinzhi’s words, Xie Linchuan slightly furrowed his brows. He actually wasn’t keen on meddling either, but after all, Xie Yanchuan was his brother.
After a brief pause, Xie Linchuan said with a heavy tone, "You’ve married Yanchuan, so you still need to handle matters with others properly."
"An incident like yesterday’s should best not happen again."
"Even though I know you don’t have any sentimental entanglement with He Jingyi, it’s still a bad influence."
"Hmph." Xu Jinzhi scoffed. Xie Linchuan, a scumbag like him, had the nerve to say such things?
In her last life, wasn’t he also ambiguous with Liang Shiyu even after their engagement?
And now he dares to lecture her so righteously in this life?
Xie Linchuan saw the disdain on Xu Jinzhi’s face and felt a bit displeased within. The only reason he was saying these things was for the good of Yanchuan and her; he wouldn’t have wasted his breath on anyone else.
"Speaking of influence, are you referring to your affair with Liang Shiyu?" Xu Jinzhi retorted.
Xie Linchuan’s expression turned somewhat awkward.
Xu Jinzhi continued, "You’d better mind your own business. If you really have nothing better to do, why not make a few rounds at the construction site? Helping the workers carry bricks wouldn’t be too bad."
After finishing her piece, Xu Jinzhi didn’t wait to see what expression Xie Linchuan wore and turned to leave directly, leaving him standing there alone.
Xie Linchuan felt somewhat stifled. Before, he only found that Xu Jinzhi was a bit proud and not very compatible with him, but now he found her completely unreasonable.
He had been simply reminding her, yet he ended up being mocked!
Xie Linchuan felt angry, his good intentions taken for granted. He wouldn’t remind her again.
Coming to this realization, Xie Linchuan finally left the meeting room.
Meanwhile, Xu Jinzhi also hurriedly departed after returning to her office.
It was getting late, and Xu Jinzhi had not been sure when she would be done with her work.
After all, including today, her wedding was in three days, and she wanted to finish all her work today so she could await the wedding with peace of mind.
Therefore, Xie Yanchuan hadn’t come to pick up Xu Jinzhi and had gone straight to the apartment after his classes to prepare dinner.
The original plan was for Xu Jinzhi to eat once she got home early; if she finished late, Xie Yanchuan would deliver the meal to her.
So at this moment, Xie Yanchuan was still in the kitchen preparing dinner, unaware that Xu Jinzhi was already on her way back.
When Xie Yanchuan had nearly finished preparing dinner, he came out of the kitchen intending to send a message to Xu Jinzhi to ask about her situation.
But just as he picked up his phone, before he could send the message, Xie Yanchuan first noticed the sound at the door.
Besides Xu Jinzhi, only the housekeeper had the keys to the house, and surely the housekeeper wouldn’t come at this hour, so there was only one answer—the person opening the door was Xu Jinzhi.
A rush of happiness surged within Xie Yanchuan. They had been separated for only a few days, and yet he had already missed Xu Jinzhi so much.
Xie Yanchuan’s eyes were trained unwaveringly on the door until it opened and Xu Jinzhi appeared. At that moment he couldn’t help but smile.
Xu Jinzhi stood at the door and called out before she caught sight of Xie Yanchuan, "Xie Yanchuan, I’m back!"
When the door fully opened, Xu Jinzhi saw Xie Yanchuan, who was wearing an apron and looking at her in the living room. Her mouth spread into a wide smile, not hiding the joy she felt upon seeing Xie Yanchuan.
Xin Jinzhi was still dragging her suitcase. She pushed it inside and carelessly set it aside, then began to hurriedly change into slippers at the entryway, kicking off her shoes haphazardly.
And Xie Yanchuan had already walked towards Xu Jinzhi. In a gentle voice, he said, "You’re back."
Xu Jinzhi didn’t respond. Instead, she quickly put on her shoes and then ran toward Xie Yanchuan, who was approaching her.
The distance from the living room to the entryway was so short. By the time Xu Jinzhi had finished changing her shoes, Xie Yanchuan was almost in front of her.
So, with just a few steps forward, Xu Jinzhi wrapped her arms around Xie Yanchuan, and he, in turn, embraced her. His smile grew ever more pronounced.
Xu Jinzhi hugged Xie Yanchuan around the neck, first standing on tiptoes to plant a kiss on the corner of his lips, then looked up at him and asked, "Did you miss me?"
"Mhm," Xie Yanchuan nodded slightly.
"How much did you miss me?" Xu Jinzhi asked playfully, tilting her head slightly.
Despite being dead tired from her business trip, and after rushing for her flight and dealing with work that day, she now felt as if all her fatigue had vanished at the sight of Xie Yanchuan.
Xie Yanchuan didn’t answer Xu Jinzhi’s question. Instead, he bent his head down and kissed her again as if trying to prove just how much he had missed her.
Xu Jinzhi didn’t pull away. Forced to tilt her head back, she held onto Xie Yanchuan even more tightly.
After what felt like an eternity, Xie Yanchuan finally stopped. They hugged each other, breathing erratically. After calming their breaths, Xie Yanchuan whispered softly, "I missed you so much."
When Xu Jinzhi wasn’t around, he felt as if it wasn’t a big deal. But every time he came home, there was a distinctly uncomfortable feeling—he always felt a bit lonely.
But why was it that now it felt so unsettling when it had always been like this before?
After pondering, Xie Yanchuan came to one possible conclusion: it was because Xu Jinzhi wasn’t there.
He had grown accustomed to Xu Jinzhi’s presence in the home, and now that she was gone, something always seemed to be missing.
After some time, when Xie Yanchuan was sure Xu Jinzhi had regained her composure, he continued softly, "Let’s wash our hands and eat."
The two sat down at the dining table where Xu Jinzhi told Xie Yanchuan about her starting her leave the next day.
Xie Yanchuan had one more class the next morning, but after that, he had no other commitments and could focus solely on preparing for the wedding.
So, Xu Jinzhi started discussing her daily plans, to which Xie Yanchuan had no objections. He simply listened quietly, ready to accompany Xu Jinzhi the next day.
Dinner finished, Xu Jinzhi snacked on some fruit while Xie Yanchuan began to tidy up the kitchen.
The kitchen wasn’t a mess, and Xie Yanchuan cleaned it up quickly. He soon came into the living room and sat next to Xu Jinzhi, who naturally leaned into his embrace.
Xie Yanchuan made no move to resist, letting Xu Jinzhi lean against him while they each ate fruit until it was gone.
