Chapter 54: The War Goddess: Young Demon Ace

Rael was sitting on a chair, in front of him was a big playground, and the area was enclosed by a large dome.

The space was filled with sand, and the temperature was warm.

On the right and left, were rows of chairs, and the seats were occupied by people.

Most of them were employees of the One Guild, and the rest were guests and spectators.

There were a total of sixty-five people in the room, and they were all staring at the center of the dome, where a young man was standing.

This dome was created inside the building of the One Guild and was designed for testing purposes.

It was built for measuring the physical abilities, and magical powers of players, and it wasn’t too big or too small. It was just the right size for the purpose it was being used for.

Currently, in it, they were testing new players who wanted to be members of the guild.

And today was the day One guild was hiring recruits, so, they were currently testing the candidates.

The first round was the physical ability test, which Rael had passed with flying colors, and the second round was the magic battle.

For the second round, the candidates would have to fight an A-Class player, and it isn’t mandatory to defeat the player, but, the person would be allowed to become a member of the One guild if he or she could last for a minute against the player.

So, the second round is pretty much a one-minute endurance battle.

Rael was sitting on a chair, and his posture was relaxed.

The young man had a blank expression on his face, and he was looking at the player who was standing inside the arena.

He was one of the candidates, and he had a serious expression on his face.

The young man was dressed in a plain white shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

He had dark hair and fair skin.

He was standing inside the arena, and his body was tense.

He was waiting for the fight to start, and his eyes were darting around the place.

His opponent, the A-Class player, had yet to arrive, and the crowd was getting restless.

A few seconds passed, and the young man was starting to get impatient.

His eyebrows were furrowed, and his jaw was clenched.

Suddenly, a loud noise rang throughout the room, and the intercom, came to life.

"Zed, where the hell are you?"

A female voice echoed through the intercom, and it was filled with annoyance.

"You are supposed to be here by now, and yet, you are not,"

The voice sighed, and its tone was exasperated.

"Are you trying to get the position taken away from you, and are you trying to ruin your chances of being a One Guild member?"

The voice, was angry, and it was furious, it belonged to the same person who had brought Rael into the arena, the girl who had conducted the first test, and she was the one who was going to commentate on the match.

"What is the holdup?"

Her voice was now demanding, and its tone was cold.

"Just hurry up, and get your ass down here,"

After a moment of silence, a voice responded to the girl.

"I am here,"

A voice which felt so far away, was heard, and its owner was a male.

The voice was low, and it was calm.

"I will be there, just, give me a moment,"

"What? You will be there? When? Where?"

The girl was baffled, and she was confused.

"I will be there," The voice repeated, and its tone was firm, "Just wait a bit,"

"You better hurry,"

The girl grumbled, and her voice was filled with irritation.

"Yeah, just let me finish this game,"

"Game?"

The girl was bewildered, and her tone was incredulous.

"Game? What game?"

"Never mind, just give me a minute,"

The voice sighed, and it sounded like the person was bored.

"I will be there,"

’Game?’ Rael raised his eyebrow, and his voice was amused.

’He is playing a game, during a battle?’

’Hmm, this should be interesting,’

Rael mused he was looking at the doorway, waiting for the person to show up.

"Don’t tell me you are playing online games, when you are supposed to be here, fighting,"

The girl was frustrated, and she was fuming.

"I don’t care if you are playing a stupid game, but, just hurry up, and get here, NOW!"

"Yeah, yeah,"

The voice replied, and its tone was dismissive.

"Just, give me a moment, and I will be there,"

"No!"

The girl was stubborn, and she refused to accept the response.

"Come here, and fight, NOW! Otherwise, you are dead when we get back home,"

’Oh, a Brother-Sister battle,’

Rael grinned, and his eyes were glinting with amusement.

"Yeah, sure, whatever,"

The voice was disinterested, and it was nonchalant.

"I will be there,"

The conversation ended, and silence descended upon the room.

Then, suddenly, the sound of footsteps was heard, and everyone turned their attention to the entrance.

Someone was walking towards the arena, and the person’s appearance caused a stir amongst the crowd.

"Zed?"

Some people gasped, and their eyes were wide.

"The ’Young Demon’ Zed?"

Some other people whispered, and their tone was astonished.

"Wow,"

People murmured, and their expressions were filled with awe.

The person, who was slowly walking into the arena, was none other than the famous, ’Young Demon’ Zed, the number one A-Class player.

Even Rael was shocked, and his eyes were slightly widened.

’He is just a kid?

"So, the rumor Zed, being a 16-year-old boy, is true?"

"Whoa, he is a 16-year-old boy and a handsome one too,"

"I know right,"

People started to talk among themselves, and the room was filled with hushed whispers.

"He is so handsome,"

Some girls giggled, and their cheeks were flushed.

"I have always wanted to see him, and now, he is finally here,"

Other girls, squealed, and their eyes were shining with delight.

’So, that kid is the one the girl, wants me to fight,’

Rael glanced at the young kid, and his face was indifferent.

’A 16 year old boy,’

’An A-Class player,’

’Well, let’s see how good you are,’

With that, Rael decided to watch the match.

And, the match, was about to start.

"Finally, you are here,"

The girl, who was standing in front of the control panel, sighed, and her face was relieved.

"Now, get ready, and fight,"

She instructed, and her tone was urgent.

"Yeah, yeah,"

Zed waved her off, and he took his place, inside the arena.

The young man was standing on the right side of the arena, and his posture was relaxed.

He had a small smirk on his face, and his expression was confident.

He was looking at his opponent, and his gaze was focused.

His opponent had a serious expression, and his body was tense.

Both of them were staring at each other, and the tension was palpable.

Suddenly, the intercom came to life, and a robotic voice spoke.

"Commencing the 2nd battle, between the challenger Ainsworth, and the member, Zed,"

The crowd erupted into cheers, and the arena was filled with noise.

"Let the battle, begin,"

With that, the voice faded, and silence descended upon the arena.

"So, you are my opponent, huh?"

Zed, smiled, and his eyes were twinkling.

"But, you look damn weak to me,"

His tone was condescending, and his gaze was mocking.

"Well, don’t worry, I will go easy on you, and beat you gently,"

"..."

Ainsworth ignored his taunt, and his expression was indifferent.

"Alright, come at me,"

Zed, taunted, and his smirk widened.

"Don’t worry, I will win, and become a member of the One Guild," Ainsworth stated, and his tone was confident.

"I will get the chance, and the honor, of serving under the leader, the president of the One Guild, and I will also get the opportunity, to help her, and serve her in her future adventures,"

"Well, that is very touching,"

Zed, snorted, and his tone was sarcastic.

"But, unfortunately, that won’t happen, because, I will beat the crap out of you, and stop you from ever dreaming about serving my master,"

"We will see about that,"

Ainsworth countered, and his expression was determined.

"Okay, then come at me," Zed taunted, and his gaze was challenging.

"I am ready, and waiting for you,"

"Alright, I will,"

Ainsworth nodded, and he took a deep breath.

With that, both of them, prepared for the battle.

And, the fight, was about to start.
