Chapter 50: The War Goddess: Slices of Some Life (2)
Now, after the events of the morning, Sera and Rael went to a mall, called ’The Galaxy Mall’.
It was a huge shopping center and was filled with various kinds of shops and marts.
It had all the brands, from the big to the small ones, and, had all kinds of products, from the basic necessities to even the luxurious items.
They also had some gaming stores, which had the latest games and consoles, including the newly released VR headsets that allowed its users to immerse themselves in the virtual world of dungeons and players even if they were not a player.
It was a very famous mall, and it was frequented by the people of the city.
Even though the prices were a bit higher than the normal ones, but the quality of the products was worth it.
And, just like its name, ’The Galaxy Mall’ implied, it was a space-themed shopping center.
The walls were painted in different shades of blue and green, and there were star patterns and constellations scattered across the surface.
The lights, which were hanging above the customers, were shaped like planets and stars, and their brightness was dimmed to create a comfortable environment.
The whole building was designed to resemble a space station, and the interior was decorated accordingly.
The ceiling, which was made up of glass, had images of nebulae and galaxies, projected onto it, creating an illusion of being surrounded by the stars and the universe.
And, to top it all off, the floor was made of black and white tiles, and there was a big aquarium at the center of the hall, and the water inside it was colored blue.
Fish, turtles, and various kinds of aquatic plants were swimming around inside it.
And, a few rays of light were shining on the aquarium, and were creating a beautiful effect.
There were also many fountains, and the sound of flowing water could be heard throughout the mall.
Overall, it was a beautiful and magical place, and it was a great spot to hang out and spend the day.
In short, it was a perfect place for a date.
’Not a date, not a date,’
Sera kept repeating those words inside her head, and her eyes were glued to the ground.
’It isn’t a date,’
’Just a friendly hangout between friends,’
She was trying to convince herself, and she was feeling a bit embarrassed.
’Stop thinking about it, Sera,’
She chided herself, and she was trying her best to maintain her composure.
’Get yourself together.’
She inhaled deeply, and her cheeks were flushed.
Next to her, was Rael, who was silently following her, and he was looking at everything with curious eyes.
He was admiring the beauty of the mall and was enjoying himself.
’This place is amazing,’
He thought, as he watched the constellation-like patterns on the walls, and, a big and round, glowing lamp, which was hanging above him.
It looked like a sun, and its yellow light was illuminating the whole area.
Without its presence, the whole place would be dark, and the atmosphere would be gloomy.
Because, the mall was a completely covered structure, and there were no windows. So, there was no source of natural light.
The only light was coming from the artificial sources, and, the darkness would engulf the whole building.
It was like a spaceship, and the people would have to depend on the artificial light to see.
The mall had a unique and different design, and it was unlike any other building.
And, the fact that it was decorated to resemble a space station, and had all the elements of the sci-fi theme, added to its appeal.
The customers would be transported into another world, and they would forget about their worries and problems and would feel a sense of serenity.
They would forget about their reality and would experience the magic of sci-fi and fantasy.
It was a magical and surreal place, and it was a sight to behold.
’Hmm, this is an interesting place,’
Rael mused, and a smile appeared on his face.
’I can’t believe humans of this world could make something like this,’
He was feeling a sense of awe, and his mind was overwhelmed.
’It just feels like that place when I had fought the god who could control fire, just like space itself,’
The scene of the battle against the fire god was still fresh in his mind, and he could remember every single detail.
The heat, the flames, the explosions, the destruction, everything was clear.
’And the sun,’
Rael’s eyes landed on the lamp, and his gaze was fixated on it.
His lips curled into a smile, and his expression was filled with nostalgia.
’Heh,’
His eyes narrowed, and his smile widened.
’The cause of my death,’
His body was bathed in the warm, yellow light, and he was looking peaceful.
’But, I am grateful to the sun,’
’Because, without it, I wouldn’t have been reborn, and would have never met my wife again,’
He glanced at the woman, walking next to him, who was also staring at him with curious eyes.
"What are you thinking?" She asked, her voice laced with curiosity, as she raised one of her eyebrows.
"Nothing much," Rael replied, his expression was calm, and his voice was soft, "Just thinking about a fact."
"Huh?" Sera was a bit confused, both by the content of his words, and by the tone of his voice.
"A fact? What kind of fact?" She questioned, her eyes were filled with intrigue.
"A fact about the sun," Rael replied, his tone nonchalant, and his gaze was fixed on the lamp.
"The sun?" Sera repeated, her expression was thoughtful, and she was thinking hard.
"Yeah," Rael nodded, and a faint smile appeared on his lips, "The sun and the moon," he muttered, and his voice was laced with melancholy.
"Why they don’t look as beautiful as before, after seeing your face."
"What?" Sera’s face turned beet red, and her eyes went wide.
She came to a halt and stopped in her tracks, her gaze was locked on the man standing in front of her.
"W-what did you just say?" She stuttered, and her heart was pounding like a drum.
"Oh, nothing," Rael said, as he took a few steps closer to the girl, and his eyes were glinting with mischief.
"Just describing some facts,"
"You..."
Sera wanted to argue, but her mouth was shut by Rael’s hand, and his touch sent a shiver down her spine.
"Shh," Rael placed his index finger on her lips, and his voice was playful, "Let me continue,"
Sera’s mind was racing, and her thoughts were running wild.
She wanted to say something, but she was speechless, and her body was frozen.
She could only stare at the young man, who was now inches away from her, and her heartbeat was erratic.
Rael leaned closer to the girl, and his voice was a whisper, "There is nothing more beautiful than my beloved’s face,"
He gently removed his finger from her lips, and his hand moved toward her hair, "And, there is nothing more precious than the love she has for me,"
His fingers brushed against her ear, and a soft sigh escaped her lips.
Her heart was beating fast, and her face was burning.
"The love she has for you?" Sera murmured, her voice was barely audible, and her tone was full of embarrassment.
"Yes," Rael’s expression was gentle, and his eyes were filled with tenderness, "She is my reason to live,"
"Your reason to live?"
Sera’s voice was weak, and her breath was uneven. She kept looking at the man in front of her, and she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
"Yes," Rael nodded, his voice was soft, and his expression was full of warmth, "She is the one who has captured my heart,"
"Is that so?"
"Yes," Rael’s reply was firm, and his eyes were blazing with passion, "She is the one I want to be with for the rest of my life,"
"Oh," Sera’s expression softened, and her tone was laced with surprise.
"If that is the case, then, why aren’t you with her? And keep pestering me, instead?" She blurted out, and her voice was tinged with annoyance.
She pouted and began to walk away from the man, and her pace was quick.
’Why did he have to say such things?’
She cursed inwardly, and her face was still flushed.
’What the hell was that?’
’And, the way he said it, was so damn smooth, and charming, and...’
Her face was burning, and her ears were tinged with red.
’He just...’
’He just made me feel all giddy inside,’
