When Zhu Lin heard Meng Zhelan’s question, she turned to look at Meng Zhelan and said, "Yes."

Meng Zhelan and Wen Na exchanged glances, then Meng Zhelan said, "I saw Captain Xiu left five days ago and hasn’t come back. I thought you were going to do a mission together."

Listening to what she said, Zhu Lin glanced at the closed door, then looked back at Meng Zhelan and said, "Thank you."

Leaving behind these words, she walked back to her apartment and closed the door. Wen Na touched her chin thoughtfully and asked curiously, "Did they quarrel?"

Meng Zhelan shrugged and said, "It’s none of our business. Let’s hurry up, lest someone snatch our good position."

After saying that, the two of them hurried to the night market to sell water. As the temperature has dropped over the past few days, their business has not been as good as before. Fortunately, they have regular customers who come to buy water from them. Otherwise, they will need to live in the outer ring area after the end of the month.

The next day, Zhu Lin woke up before the sun rose from the horizon because of the commotion outside. When she opened her eyes and glanced at the table clock beside her bed, it was only three o’clock in the morning. Looking at the sleeping rabbit next to her, she got out of bed without waking up the snoring rabbit.

When she opened the living room window, the noise outside became clearer. She walked out onto the balcony and looked down. Seeing that the people below seemed to be celebrating, Zhu Lin was a little curious.

She took out her ice silk cloak, put it on, and left her apartment. As soon as she came out of the apartment building, she saw that everyone seemed to be holding some kind of skewers, eating and chatting happily. The female soldier smiled at her and said, "The base is giving out meat and everyone can have a share."

After saying that, the female soldier took out a paper plate from her backpack and ten skewers of meat from the plastic bucket she was carrying, and said, "Since you are also a resident here, this is your share."

Zhu Lin took the meat skewers and asked, "Is this the meat of those mutated beasts?"

The female soldier was surprised that she knew about the origin of the meat. She nodded, observed Zhu Lin’s expression, and said: "Yes. But these meats are safe to eat. The laboratory has discovered which part is safe to eat and which part is poisonous. As long as we are careful when eating, we won’t be poisoned after eating the mutated beast’s meat."

After saying this, the female soldier saw Zhu Lin nodded and calmly ate the meat. Seeing her calm expression, the female soldier smiled and said, "Few people can be so calm after hearing that these are the meat of mutated beasts. Miss, you are very interesting."

Zhu Lin smiled slightly, took a bite of the meat and said, "I believe that if the meat contains poison, the base will not distribute it to the public."

Hearing what she said, the female soldier was happy for her trust in them. She took out five more meat skewers from the bucket and placed them on Zhu Lin’s paper plate. The female soldier put her index finger to her lips, smiled and said, "Keep this as secret."

Before Zhu Lin could thank her, the female soldier walked up to an old man and handed him ten meat skewers. Looking at the five extra skewers on the paper plate, Zhu Lin walked away with a smile. While Zhu Lin was eating, she walked around the base and saw many soldiers distributing meat skewers and water.

’Xiu Wu and the others must have shared this information with the base. Is this what they are busy with these days?’

While thinking and eating, she subconsciously walked towards the night market area out of habit. Zhu Lin raised her eyebrows slightly when she saw the night market was crowded.

When news of water and food shortages spread around the base, the market area could be said to be deserted. Every night, when she comes to sell water and food, there are only a few stalls besides her stall. But tonight, everyone seemed full of energy and happiness.

Seeing those smiling faces, the corners of her lips also raised slightly. As she walked around the market, she noticed that everyone was selling similar things. After walking for a while, Zhu Lin saw a stall surrounded by people.

While Zhu Lin was still thinking, Ren Yuan saw her. He paused for a moment before regaining his composure.

He looked at the customer and said, "The information about the new materials was released two days ago. You can check this information by going to the mission hall or trading hall. But since you don’t know, it seems you haven’t been there yet."
