Chapter 61: He Is Telling The Truth

Chapter 61: He Is Telling The Truth

Mao Yan was surprised to see Zhu Lin’s calm expression when facing him. Normally, when people see him, they will get nervous because of his aura and uniform.

Looking at this young lady who was too beautiful to be called human, Mao Yan smiled and said, "Yes. Can we go in and talk?"

After saying this, Mao Yan waited for Zhu Lin to invite him in. Unfortunately, the one standing before him was a god who lived in seclusion all her life and lacked common sense.

Instead of inviting them in, Zhu Lin tilted her head slightly and asked calmly: "What do you want to discuss with me?"

Sensing her lack of respect for their commander and the casualness of her words, Teng Bai raised his eyebrows slightly. Feeling a little embarrassed, the smile on Mao Yan’s face became stiff.

Zhu Lin waited for a while, only to see Mao Yan staring at her with awkward expressions. Before she decided to close the door, Tu Tu sighed and said, [Master, why don’t you invite them in first? It would be impolite to have them stand outside when they come to talk to you.]

Hearing what the rabbit said, Zhu Lin remembered that every time she went to see her elder brother, he would invite her into the main palace.

After thinking about it, she stepped back and said, "Please come in."

Mao Yan, who was finally invited into Zhu Lin’s home, secretly heaved a sigh of relief and said, "Thank you, Miss."

When Mao Yan, Teng Bai and the three soldiers stepped into Zhu Lin’s apartment, they were surprised to find that the temperature inside her apartment was so different from the temperature outside. It feels very comfortable, like the weather in early autumn.

After closing the door, Zhu Lin walked to the living room and said, "Please sit down."

Recovering from their surprise, the five surprised men took off their shoes and walked into the living room. Zhu Lin sat on the old sofa, looked at Mao Yan and said, "Can you tell me what you want to talk to me about now?"

Mao Yan noticed that the tone of this young woman talking to him was like an elder talking to a child. Although the way Zhu Lin talked to him made him feel a little uncomfortable, Mao Yan still said calmly: "Miss, I heard that you sold water at the market last night. Is it true?"

Zhu Lin nodded, and Mao Yan asked again: "May I ask, how much water can you produce in one day?"

Hearing his question, Zhu Lin asked, "Do you want to buy water from me?"

Mao Yan smiled and said, "Yes. I–"

Before he could say more, Zhu Lin said, "A person can only buy three liters of water from me in one day."

Being interrupted by her, Mao Yan was displeased. But thinking that he needed her help to lessen the burden of the supply division and his responsibility to save the soldiers and the common people, Mao Yan suppressed his annoyance and said, "I need a lot of water to supply the soldiers and the common people. Can you reconsider the rules?"

Seeing that Zhu Lin didn’t respond, he said, "It’s impossible to get everyone to personally buy water from you. The first reason is that you will be too tired to do it alone. Another reason is that not everyone can come to you to buy water. For example, the people in the outer ring area. They had not drunk water or eaten anything for days and were too weak to walk."

After he said that, Zhu Lin stared at him for a few seconds, then glanced at Tu Tu who was lying on her lap, and asked, [Tu Tu, did he lie to me?]

Tu Tu looked up and replied: [He is telling the truth.]

Hearing what the rabbit said, Zhu Lin smiled slightly and said, "If it’s for the common people, then I can change the rules for you. But before I decide whether to help you or not, can you answer my question?"

Mao Yan nodded and said, "Feel free to ask."

"Such a large base like this one should have emergency rations. Why not use it to help the people?" Zhu Lin asked while carefully observing Mao Yan’s expression.

Hearing her question, Mao Yan sighed helplessly and said, "I know it’s hard to believe, but this base has no more emergency rations. When the apocalypse began, we had already taken out all the emergency rations to help the common people. Currently, the remaining supplies can only last up to six days."

After hearing what he said, Zhu Lin asked, [Tu Tu, is what he said true?]

Tu Tu stared at Mao Yan for a few seconds, then looked at its master, and said, [He is telling the truth.]

With Tu Tu’s confirmation, Zhu Lin looked at Mao Yan again and asked, "How much water do you need?"

After Zhu Lin finished asking, Mao Yan took out a piece of paper from his pants pocket. He pushed the piece of paper in front of Zhu Lin, and said, "This is the list of things that we want to buy from you."

Zhu Lin didn’t take the paper and said, "Just tell me."

Not knowing why Zhu Lin wanted him to tell her directly, Mao Yan picked up the paper, glanced at her for a second, before reading the content on the paper for her.

"Our military base has one hundred and twenty-five thousand people including soldiers and supernatural beings. Based on the average daily water consumption, we need at least four hundred thousand liters of water per day. We want to buy at least two hundred thousand liters of water from you. As for the remaining water, we plan to buy it from other water element supernatural beings."

Mao Yan observed Zhu Lin’s expression for a while, then carefully said, "In addition to water, we want to buy sweet potatoes from you too."
