Chapter 185: Mission

The System Window Millennia immediately obeyed Adam’s command. It began its work at once its processes moving at the speed of thought. A new mission was instantly created and launched.

It was broadcast through its network of Sub-Systems. A transparent blue window a personal System Window appeared simultaneously in front of all the new members of The New Warriors.

As the System Window materialized out of thin air in front of all the members of the group who were still standing restlessly outside their dormitory building everyone was very surprised.

A collective gasp went through the crowd of eighty students. They stared at the strange glowing screens that had appeared from nowhere. The screens stated that a new mission was being started for the host for them.

The mission was simple and clear. The host had to spend 3 hours in the individual training grounds.

They had to train at the medium difficulty level fighting against a single clone dummy.

The reward for completing this mission was also clearly listed. They would receive three stat points and a permanent boost of 100+ to their maximum mana points.

Seeing this amazing offer all the members present there were very surprised. Three stat points was a significant boost for a first-year student.

And an increase in their mana pool was an invaluable asset for any aspiring warrior or magician. It was an incredible reward for just three hours of basic training.

A buzz of excited conversation immediately went through the group. Their earlier disappointment at Eric’s absence was completely forgotten. It was replaced by a new focused excitement.

They all turned without another word and started heading towards the individual training grounds. Their steps were now filled with a renewed sense of purpose. Their leader had given them a task a way to become stronger. And they were eager to begin.

Meanwhile in a different part of the Academy inside one of the vast indoor training halls Eric was still engaged in his own solitary training.

After what felt like hours of relentless fighting he finally sat down on the hard stone floor of his private training platform. He was completely exhausted.

The five powerful clones of the Imperial soldiers that he had been fighting were now broken and lying on the ground around him. They were defeated their limbs twisted at unnatural angles.

As he sat there breathing heavily all the broken soldier clones began to glow with a faint blue light. Then they disappeared instantly vanishing into thin air. The training platform was resetting itself.

Seeing this Eric started breathing heavily his chest heaving with exertion. He said in a low voice to himself "Today’s training is complete here. I can’t do any more." Thinking this Eric stood up from the training ground.

His muscles ached with a deep fatigue that went all the way to his bones.

And as he was about to exit the training platform he spoke the command to end the session. The blue energy barrier that had surrounded the platform flickered and was removed.

Immediately after its removal Eric could see the situation in the large training hall outside.

He saw that all the members of the new group created by Adam The New Warriors were present there. They were scattered all over the vast training hall occupying many of the individual training platforms.

Eric was very surprised to see them all here. He saw that many of his group members were very tired. They were sitting on the ground outside their own platforms leaning against the walls of the hall.

Half of the members of his group were missing. He looked around. They must have already finished their own three-hour training mission and gone back to the dormitory to rest.

Seeing this Eric as soon as he stepped off his platform and went near the group of tired students those members also looked up at him. They were sitting on the ground looking completely exhausted.

But there was a new light of excitement in their eyes a new energy. His unexpected mission had given them all a new sense of purpose and a clear path to getting stronger.

They now saw him as a leader who not only protected them but also provided them with opportunities. The group was starting to come together. And it was all part of Adam’s plan.

At the large entrance of the indoor training hall where dozens of platforms now stood Eric saw his new group members. A shimmering blue barrier surrounded each occupied platform.

No one could see through the energy shields to the training happening inside. As soon as Eric approached the main area Kado who was sitting on the hard stone floor smiled up at him. He was clearly very tired. His hair was plastered to his forehead with sweat. His uniform was disheveled.

Seeing Kado and the others in this state Eric asked "What are all of you doing here? I thought I would be the only one training this late."

Hearing his question another group member sitting next to Kado looked up. His name was Robin the blond-haired noble who had been the second to join their group.

"Eric you didn’t come to meet us after class," Robin explained. "But the System Window had already given us a message. It allocated a new mission to all of us. All the members of The New Warriors are completing this mission to get stronger."

Seeing this Eric was a little surprised.

Even though the [System Window] had told him before that it had connected all the members with him that it would manage them it was still strange to see it happen so efficiently. It felt very real. He felt a small pang of guilt for not being there to lead them himself. But he quickly pushed it aside. He had his own training to do. He let out a deep sigh.

"This is very good for you all," he said. "Keep up the good work."

Saying this Eric started to walk away from the training hall. He intended to go back to his room. Seeing this Kado who was still sitting on the ground shouted after him. "Where are you going now? Aren’t you going to train with us?"

Eric hearing Kado’s words said while walking without turning back "I am very tired. I’ve already finished my own training. Now I am going to rest." He left the training ground. He walked out into the cool evening air. He was going towards his dormitory building.

When Kado hears this, he gets very surprised and everyone present there also gets very surprised and moves forward and looks towards Eric.

Then on the way in the park that was situated between the training hall and the dormitories he saw a lone figure. He saw that Alina was sitting alone on a bench. She looked very sad. Her shoulders were slumped.

Her head was down. Seeing this Eric was very surprised. He looked at Alina and moved forward towards her. He stood in front of the bench where she was sitting.

For quite some time now, Eric has been noticing that Alina is either ignoring him or they are not able to talk to each other like before.

Alina was looking down at the ground. She was staring at her own feet not seeing anything. As she saw two pairs of boots appear in her line of vision she slowly looked up. She saw Eric standing in front of her.

Seeing him Alina did not react much. She showed no surprise no happiness. She just looked at him for a moment with sad eyes. Then she started looking at the ground again.

Seeing this strange reaction from Alina Eric was very surprised. He was also concerned. He sat down next to her on the bench without her permission without asking her first. The silence between them was heavy.

Then Alina spoke her voice soft and empty. "I want to be alone right now," she said. "Can you please leave me alone?" Her words were a dismissal a clear sign she did not want his company. But Eric did not move. He knew something was wrong. And for some reason he felt he could not just walk away.

Eric is very surprised to hear Alina’s words, he did not expect that Alina is saying that she does not want to talk to anyone right now.

Hearing this, Eric understands that a lot is definitely happening with Alina which she is not able to share with anyone and at this time, he has to help Alina at any cost.

Although Eric doesn’t have much experience in handling such situations, he will still try his best to help Alina in any way he can and reduce her troubles.
