Chapter 188: The Frantic Bloodrens

Arc 3, Chapter 188—The Frantic Bloodrens

.

.

Staring at the canoes, there was only one thing to do now—Get on.

Everyone did as Clara instructed, hoping into the canoe and gliding alongside the current.

With so much time on the lazy river, many began speculating what their new home would be like.

"Crap! Don’t tell me we’ll have to fight for sleeping accommodations again."

"Dammit, why couldn’t we have just stayed where we were until the new Bloodren 10s arrive next year?"

"Yeah. What was so wrong with that? That is,why not just open up more rooms to accomodate us all?"

Many people couldn’t help grumbling when thinking of the new home they were probably going to stay in until they officially ’graduate’ from Phase 10. Those with the weakest shards only wanted to cry but had no tears.

Do you not understand their worries yet?

First of all, you must understand that the place they were going to was probably filled with hundreds and thousands of Bloodren 10s who have been here for ages, hoping to advance.

There might be some here for 6 years, and others who have been here for 7. All in all, only after their 8 year passes, can they be removed from their residential sites and departments if they don’t advance to Bloodren 9.

That being said, do you know how many crazy Locko people must be living there?

Maybe there are 5,000 or even 10,000 Bloodren 10s out residing there who go out on missions and return, and also keep getting punishments that delay them from taking missions too.

Don’t you get it?

The people they are about to meet, have tasted true cruelty, and probably loved more concisely than they who were now moving in.

In every faction and organization, be it the army, school or anywhere else... Newbies are always troubled.

What if someone asks them to join a group and they refuse? What if they make bigger enemies now that they are going into an even more ferocious world?

Initially, one only had to worry about Victorio, Hendrix, Floriana,Batista and a few others and their groups. But now, in such a wretched place, do you know how many more arrogant bastards they have to avoid or curry for survival?

Those who were the weakest, were the most afraid of being shoved around. But as for Levon and a few others... Well, it would be a lie if they said they weren’t looking forward to their new lives!

Levon licked his lips playfully. ’This is gonna be fun.’

...

"Blah, blah, blah, blah."

Talks of the future continued as they progressed on the lazy river. However, after 30-something-ish minutes, they noticed how wide the river was growing, and how deadly the current was changing too.

"There’s a waterfall ahead." Yimu stated. She,Floriana and her group were in a canoe not too far from him.

"Eh? Waterfall?" Several others also heard her, bracing themselves with the help of their shards.

—And just as Yimu had predicted, they came face to face with a waterfall that would tear any normal human to smithereens.

Have you ever seen a waterfall that spewed fire and water together?

Looking at the wood the canoe was made from, it was clear it was created to withstand the incredulous temperature of the waters the closer they got to the waterfall.

My God, it was like a sauna in here.

No... it was more accurate to say they’re ere like raw food placed in a boiling pot.

Their bodies turned red like lobsters, despite activating their shards to protect themselves from the heat. Even with their supernatural bodies, it still hurt like hell just being around the steam the rivers emitted.

Yet, Levon looked down at his uniform, surprised it wasn’t burning or tearing into shreds.

’Is it heat resistant too?’

Well, you learn new things everyday. Levon stared at his uniform, wondering what sort of material it was actually made of.

"If our skins are this inflamed from the steam alone, then imagine what would happen if we dared to fall off these canoes!"

"Ahhh! It burns!... It stings too much! Just how much more do we have to go?"

"Not LONG! Brace yourselves!!!" Someone exclaimed to their team, as they held onto the canoes while falling off the waterfall’s edge.

Ahhhhhhh~

People screamed as though on an amusement park ride as raw panic gnawed at their insides the longer they fell.

There was boiling steam around them, making it difficult to breathe. The Oxygen going to their brains seemed to be getting less and less the more they descended.

Help! Help! Help!

They began breathing with their mouths and gasping for air while daring not to let go and fly overboard.

Damn. The canoe’s wood is also impressive, right?

They wanted to close their eyes, it dared not, especially when seeing the bottom covered only with deadly mist that looked like cinders.

"It burns... it fucking burns!"

"Wooooo~ I think I’m gonna go blind at this rate!"

Sparks of fire mixed with the most slapped the cheeks and faces of those not careful enough to protect themselves. Some went in their eyes, and others felt immense pain on their necks and under their chins.

Pain now groped their chests, cashing their breathing to bit h and their desperation to override any sense of caution they now felt.

It was odd to describe the pain, for it was nothing they had ever felt before.

Just a hit from a tiny spec of flame—a flame so tiny it resembled an ant—was enough to cause a grown man to weep and donate all his wealth to charity.

So imagine how dreadful it was for them to take so many cinder bruns while still trying to stay in the canoes with their shards activated?

Terrible.

Even Levon wanted to know just how long this fall was.

The canoe was again also weird in the sense that it never spiraled or tilted exaggeratedly for one second during the fall.

It stayed and swayed steady, only shifting from left to right, right to left, and nothing more. It shifted with their wobbling, but didn’t threaten to capside.

’Did I count it right?’ Levon felt it was exaggerated. He had counted it in his heart and concluded that they had been falling for 9 entire minutes now.

Tell me... just how frickin high or deep was the waterfall they were on?

What is this?

A gateway into Hell itself?

Levon rolled his eyes amid his pain. He knew the entire place was a rift in the veil between the human world and hell.

It’s true that the veil had been sealed permanently, meaning the vampires will never have a chance to crawl back into Hell from here.

They are now trapped with no way out, which is why they want world domination to make this world permanently theirs.

The heavens sealed the veils and gave shards to humans to have a fighting chance. But after the veil got sealed, of course all its remnants still remained... as if it was an archeological site.

So yes, they might be very well falling into one of the cracks that the vampires once used to crawl right out.

Who knows... the entire Blood Line was one big crack.

Levon still counted in his heart, until he realized they were going up to a time of 14 minutes—14 minutes of free falling and getting burnt and steamed. Fortunately, it seemed the end was near.

"Fuck!!!" Someone exclaimed when seeing what the bottom looked like.

Oh my God! It was a complete sea of fire.... no magna, but fire.

Everything down here was on fire. The rocks were on fire, even the flipping air was on fire. But it wasn’t your everyday fire, but a special fire they couldn’t very well explain.

To make matters worse, the deeper they fell, the deeper the heat and the pain.

It was so bad that after they finally reached the bottom and stepped out of the canoes, a few weaker Bloodren 10s finally collapsed to the ground, fainting with no way of holding back anymore.

Now that they had formed teams, their teammates knew better than to leave their comrades behind.

After all, Winhest was very specific that they wouldn’t be able to carry out their first mission unless everyone on the teams when they passed the Phase 2 competitions were there.

Of course after your first mission, if you want to dump, switch, or change groups, you can do that and no one would care.

The important thing is that ALL members registered together, must participate in the first mission. So how dare they leave things collapsed and fainted Bloodrens behind?

Thank God for Shards!

Many team leaders and people secretly thanked the heavens for such a thing as they rudley dumped the fainted bodies onto their enlarged shards.

"Keep up." Clara’s ever ominous voice bellowed from a far distance ahead of the flaming path they were now on.

The group was helpless but could only sigh.

Alas... How much longer is this bloody journey?
