Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Everyone cheered as they thanked him.
"You’re not the generous type of person, so what changed your mind?"
"Is it wrong to pay for someone else’s food?"
"Not really but it’s really new to us."
"Is it that hard to just say thank you and shut up?"
"Okay, okay. I’ll shut up now."
He just blurted out whatever came to his mind as a diversion for his crazy antics a while ago.
Remillia called the waiter so they could pay their bill now.
"We would like to pay our bill, please."
"Please wait for a moment."
A few minutes later, he arrived at their table with a friendly smile. "Alright, who shall pay?"
They all pointed at Rex.
"Sir, would you like to pay in cash or card?"
"Card."
As Axel began to process their payment, Christian turned to the others and whispered, "You know, I think we should make this a regular spot. We have to come back here again soon."
The others nodded in agreement, still savoring the flavors of their meal. Remillia spoke up, "I’ve never had matcha anything that good before. I’m hooked!"
Cypher chuckled. "I know what you mean. That crepe was insane. And the service was top-notch too."
As Axel handed back Rex’s card, they all stood up and went for the door. Axel bowed at them while cheerfully saying, "We’re happy that you’re all satisfied! Please come again soon."
When they exited the restaurant, the sun was already shining brightly. Remillia who was worried about the fight looked at her smart watch, "oh shoot! It’s already 10:02 A.M. Let’s hurry up."
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
At exactly 10:30, the two of them went out the same time while facing each other. The crowds grew excited when they saw Remillia again.
REMI!
REMI!
REMI!
They chanted her name as if they already knew that she would win again.
"They should be chanting Mad Witch instead of your name, it doesn’t suit you."
"Well at least I’m popular, how about you?"
"Let’s see about that."
"Don’t forget about our deal."
"Relax. I don’t go back on my words."
The host sensing that they’re ready, quickly rang the bell, signaling the start of the duel, Remillia and Rex faced each other, their eyes locked in a fierce stare. Remillia cracked her knuckles, preparing for the fight to come.
Rex charged forward, his sword flashing in the light as he struck at Remillia with a powerful diagonal slash. Remillia dodged to the side, using her agility to avoid the attack. She quickly countered with a series of rapid-fire dagger strikes, each one aimed at Rex’s exposed arms and torso.
Rex parried each strike with his sword, his movements fluid and precise. He countered with a series of powerful swings, aiming for Remillia’s head and chest. Remillia danced back, avoiding another swing from Rex’s sword. She spotted an opening and took advantage of it, dashing forward with a series of rapid-fire daggers and kicks. Rex stumbled back, his sword wavering as he struggled to keep up with Remillia’s pace.
As the fight raged on, both fighters began to tire. Remillia’s lunges became more frequent and aggressive, while Rex’s sword swings became more wild and uncoordinated. The crowd cheered as the two of them clashed, their movements a blur of steel and leather.
Remillia seized the opportunity, unleashing a flurry of quick dagger throws while sending him jabs at the same time that sent Rex stumbling. She finished with a swift kick to his chest, sending him flying backward.
Rex recovered quickly, charging forward with a powerful swing of his sword. Remillia sidestepped it again, countering with a swift kick to Rex’s stomach. He doubled over, clutching his midsection in pain.
Remillia saw an opening and took it. She darted forward, her dagger flashing in the light as she struck at Rex’s exposed side. Rex tried to block it, but Remillia was too fast, too agile. The dagger bit deep into his armor, and he stumbled backward.
Remillia didn’t give him a chance to recover, striking again with a series of lightning-fast punches that left Rex stumbling and disoriented. The crowd cheered as Remillia finished with a devastating uppercut that sent Rex crashing to the ground.
The host check if Rex could stand up and fight once more but when Rex didn’t stand up, the host declared Remillia as the winner once more.
As she stood over Rex, who was still struggling to get up, she grinned happily at him, "You owe me an Xphone," she teased, winking at him before she helped him get up.
Rex grinned sheepishly as he struggled to get up. "okay, you got me," he said, shaking his head in admiration. "but just so you know, I went easy on you."
"Easy on me, my ass. You just got your ass whooped."
The medics tried to help him but he stopped them gesturing that he can still walk. Remillia shook her head, ’ he really has a big ego. Even though he lost, he doesn’t want anyone to help him.’
In the end, Remillia help him as she slung his arm on her shoulder and carried him towards the tunnel where they entered.
"You’re clearly injured yet you refuse to seek help."
Rex smirked at her, "Don’t you know? Pain makes me stronger. Besides, we’re different from normal people. Our wounds heal faster than them."
Remillia pinched his side where the dagger has hit him, "dumb@ss, you’ll only get infected if you leave your wounds unattended."
"Sh!t! That hurts!"
"I thought pain makes you stronger?"
He grumbled under his breathe, "they’re too many people watching, I don’t want to be carried to a stretcher and parade me there."
Remillia rolled her eyes, "I’ll deliver you on the clinic to rest there. Make sure to let them check your wounds."
"Why am I the only one going there? I can see that you’re injured too."
"These are only minor wounds, I can just gauze and put an ointment on it later."
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
After using the ointment that Professor Orion gave to her, she went to buy a extra large paper bag full of chips and a bottle of water before going back to the arena.
’I must hurry up, Cypher’s match will begin at 2 P.M.’
By the time she went to find a seat, it was already packed with people. Everywhere she looked, there’s no empty seat available.
’Should I just sleep then?’
She was about to turn her back when she spotted three girls leaving their seat.
’Sleep or watch? Which one’s better?’
She was still thinking when two of the seats were now occupied.
’Haisst. I might as well watch since I’m already here.’
She took a glance on her side and almost shouted when she saw who it was.
It was Kairos Thane.
’Don’t look! Don’t look! Don’t look!’
She quickly looked on the other side while bowing using her hair as a shield so that he can’t remember her.
’I should’ve just gone back.’
This luck of hers always show up on the wrong timing.
When Kairos moved, Remillia would flinch as she stiffly looked on the other side. Kairos noticed this and strangely look at the girl.
’What’s wrong with this person? Does she have a mental condition?’
He focused his gaze on the host instead.
"Our contestants this time are Cypher Knox and Jonathan Davis! The match will begin in 3, 2, 1. Fight!"
Remillia who also heard this, turned her head infront to watch the fight. A few minutes later, she forgot about Kairos as she watched Cypher with awe while eating her chips. When she saw Cypher used his mana to cover his sword and push back his opponent, she yelled along with the other crowds.
"That’s my MC!"
Sploosh!
Remillia, still in the midst of cheering, turned around to see what all the commotion was about. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight of the person, Kairos, still frozen from under the giant soda cup that had landed on his head.
She checked her clothes if it was also wet but none, not even a single drop splashed on me. She couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the absurdity of the situation.
"Pfft! Hahaha!"
As she laughed, she noticed that Kairos’ black pupils were trembling with anger, he seemed like he was about to explode. Fearing that he would kill her once he knows who she is, she quickly regained her composure and feigned ignorance.
The stranger quickly apologized as he tried to wipe his clothes. In the end, Kairos only got soaked even more.
"Pfft."
I couldn’t help but chuckle quietly while watching him. He looked so sticky and smelled of cola.
"Don’t let me see you again."
Remillia knotted her eyebrows as she noticed the stranger’s eyes went white for a moment before it returned to its original color and as if he’s possessed, he followed what Kairos said to him.
’This must be his ability, "Samodiva’s Control" this ability can influence and control the actions and decisions of others by using mental manipulation or suggestion temporarily.’
