‎Location: Zephyr's Quarters – Late Evening

‎‎Zephyr Arclight sat at his desk, a single candle flickering beside a small, half-filled notebook titled "Janitorial Field Notes – Classified." Outside, the moonlight washed over the academy towers, quiet and still. Inside? Not so much.

‎‎A loud whisper broke the silence.

‎‎"I know you're in there, Zephyr. Open up! I brought... research materials."

‎‎He sighed. "Selena, it's midnight."

‎‎The door clicked open anyway.

‎‎Selena Frostveil, in full pajamas and with three folders under one arm, stormed in. Her bun was slightly unraveling—a clear sign of scientific distress.

‎‎"We need to discuss the implications of your mop. Again."

‎‎Zephyr looked at her. Then at the folder labeled: Mana Emission Patterns from Common Household Tools.

‎‎"You mean again again."

‎‎Selena sat down across from him, sliding a hand-drawn chart forward. "I recorded its magical pulse over a 72-hour cycle. The spike correlates with when you stirred matcha last Tuesday."

‎‎He blinked. "So you're saying my mop is matcha-reactive?"

‎‎"Yes! No! I mean—possibly. We need a deeper dive. Also, I brought matcha lattes to test the theory."

‎‎A beat of silence.

‎‎"...This is just your excuse to drink matcha, isn't it?"

‎‎Selena blushed.

‎Elsewhere: Roof of the Girls' Dormitory

‎‎Arwen Galehart sat under the stars, quietly reading a book... upside-down. Not that she noticed. Her thoughts had long since drifted.

‎‎("Why did he smile like that when he held the mop today?")

‎‎She caught herself and quickly flipped the book. "Ridiculous," she muttered. "I'm just... analyzing his posture. For threat analysis."

‎‎From the shadows, Rosalia de Glorieux giggled.

‎‎"So you stare at his hands for holy reasons, too?"

‎Arwen turned red. "H-how long have you been there?!"

‎‎"Long enough to know we’re both hopeless."
