Chapter 194: Chapter 194: The Flu has been Quite Prevalent Recently (2)_1
As soon as she finished speaking, Xia Wan’an sprinted towards the bedroom door.
She hadn’t gotten two steps when Han Jingnian grabbed her wrist.
Her body stiffened, and she turned around instinctively, meeting Han Jingnian’s gaze.
Han Jingnian stared at her with a spark in his eyes, looking at her for a while, before he parted his lips to ask: "How have you been doing these past two days?"
Huh?
Xia Wan’an was left stunned by Han Jingnian’s question.
After a small pause, she finally responded, "Quite good actually."
Han Jingnian gazed into her eyes again, without uttering a word.
Xia Wan’an was puzzled, "..." What was he trying to get at? Was he expecting her to say she wasn’t doing well so he could feel happy?
The bedroom was quiet for a moment, and then Han Jingnian broke the silence: "Really doing well?"
"Yes..." Xia Wan’an was genuinely confused. She didn’t understand what Han Jingnian meant and went on to detail her current status: "I’m really doing well. I went to bed after midnight last night and just woke up. I slept for almost thirteen hours! Moreover, it was such a refreshing sleep, I didn’t even dream..."
Before she could finish the last word, Han Jingnian interrupted, "Do you have something to say to me?"
Something to say to him...
Xia Wan’an shook her head, "No, I don’t."
As she finished speaking, she could distinctly feel the man tightening his grip on her wrist.
Feeling the pain, she scrunched her eyebrows and subconsciously tried to free herself from his firm grasp, which only led to him squeezing her wrist harder. She let out a silent gasp and decided to change her tactics, "Oh, actually I do have something to say to you..."
As she finished speaking, she noticed a slight improvement in Han Jingnian’s mood, even his grip on her wrist eased a bit.
Xia Wan’an then dangled her phone in front of Han Jingnian’s eyes, "Well... have you eaten lunch? I was going to order takeout, do you want me to get something for you too..."
Han Jingnian waited for a while, expecting her to say more. When she didn’t, he queried, "Is that all?"
"No..." She had only said one word when she feared he might snap her wrist if she stopped talking, so she quickly corrected herself: "...actually, I wanted to ask you..."
Meanwhile, Xia Wan’an was relieved that she had reacted quickly and racked her brains for what to say next. She remembered how Han Jingnian had asked her about dinner almost every day last week, so she assumed that was what he wanted to hear. She scolded him internally for not being direct and wasting time beating around the bush, but hurriedly continued: "I wanted to ask... what do you want for dinner?"
Han Jingnian’s expression grew darker at her response. His eyes rested on hers, revealing an emotion that he seemed to be suppressing. His voice sounded cold as he spoke, as though he were trying hard to control something: "Do you have anything else to tell me besides this?"
"Or perhaps, do you need my help with anything?"
Help? Her? How could she dare! He had coldly warned her before not to trouble him...
With cautious eyes, Xia Wan’an regarded Han Jingnian for a moment before shaking her head: "No..."
Before she could finish, Han Jingnian suddenly pulled her closer, as if he didn’t want to hear another word from her. He leaned in and sealed her lips with a passionate kiss.
