Chapter 908: Took the bait

Chapter 908: Took the bait

The very first moment they got Leo in the chopper, one man ripped Leo’s pants to aid his injury. Meanwhile, Primo stayed outside and watched everything unfold.

"We’re going!" Wolf yelled to relay his message under the loud noise of the helicopter. "Your backup will come in any minute!"

Primo snapped his eyes at the old man, who was yelling right into his face. "Are you worried about me?" he gasped, almost touched by Wolf’s remarks.

Wolf’s face twitched as he looked at the man in dismay. "You’re the lead of this mission! Don’t you dare die until she’s safe!" he grumbled, casting Leo and the other man a nod.

Leo passed out, but the man took care of the injury in his leg. Thus, Wolf turned his head to the pilot.

"Let’s get him out of here!" Wolf rose from his squatting position while the man with them dragged Leo to safety.

"Goodness." Primo stepped back, watching the chopper slowly ascend to the sky. The remaining men stayed with him. "He can be so cold-hearted."

He shook his head while continuously clicking his tongue. He gazed up, watching Wolf stand by the open door while looking down at them. They kept their eyes locked on each other before Wolf slammed the door shut.

"Well, that’s about it." Primo shrugged and then pressed a finger on his earpiece. "Hostage number two codename Mr. Superstar is safe. Wolf is with him."

He then slowly turned on his heel, facing the mansion’s ruined entrance. Thick smoke billowed into the sky and the heatwave brushed past their skin. On the other side of this ruined entrance, there were more enemies and hostages. After all, not everyone who was working for this stronghold was a willing servant.

"I’m going in," announced Primo to whoever was listening to the other side. "He took Hera with him and just as you said, it seemed Dimitri’s people were here to join the party."

He dropped his hand from his earpiece, looking at the few men who stayed with him. Compared to the numbers within the mansion, their number was too small to even call a unit. It was more like a suicide group. Primo snapped his eyes back to the burning entrance, cocking his rifle before he fearlessly announced,

"Let’s get the princess out of here."

Meanwhile...

Hera felt slightly dizzy at the event that unfolded in a span of minutes. Initially, she found herself begging Dragon to not kill Leo and regretting her action. But then someone came in a helicopter, spewing a bunch of nonsense. And then someone came up behind them before a continuous round of gunfire echoed all across the mansion.

The sound almost deafened her. Strange that the original Hera was so used to that particular sound and yet, the current Hera was almost traumatized. Thus, in the next few minutes, her mind went blank. She only snapped back to reality when she heard this explosive sound from where they came from.

Snapping back to the current lapse, her eyes shook upon setting them on Dragon’s back. He was holding her hand, dragging her somewhere in the mansion. Behind them were faint noises of gunfires, people yelling, and then footsteps — hurried and loud footsteps.

’Leo!’

Suddenly, her awareness of this chaos made her recall Leo. She turned her head back, only to see several people under Dragon’s command following them.

"Wait!" Hera screamed as she tugged her hand from Dragon. "Let me go!"

Her attempt to escape compelled Dragon to stop, but it wasn’t enough for her to free herself.

"Leo is still out there!" she yelled through her gritted teeth, stopping her struggle as she gazed at him. "Let me go."

Dragon’s face contorted as his grip on her wrist tightened. "Hera, enough with your nonsense." His tone dropped, and the tension around them felt heavier.

"I’m not joking anymore," he added under his breath. "Stop this nonsense and come with me. Unless you want to die here."

Hera clenched her teeth as her eyes shone malevolently. "I’d rather die here," she remarked through her gritted teeth. "I’m not coming with you."

His grip around her wrist tightened even more, to the point she couldn’t help but wince. She tugged her arm once but to no avail.

"I’ll deal with you later," he warned, making her breath hitch. "Don’t make me angry even more, Hera."

With that being said, Dragon tugged her wrist to him and earned a squeal from her. However, despite the pain in her wrist, as if Dragon was planning to amputate it, she put all her weight on her feet to slow them down. Hera struggled and struggled regardless if it was foolish.

"Stop!" Hera squealed, pulling her hand from him while channeling her weight to her feet. "I’m not going with you! Let me go! I’d rather stay here! I don’t care —"

After a minute of struggle, Hera’s echoing screams stopped completely. Her body slowly fell and Dragon caught her in his arm. Snapping his eyes at the man behind Hera, the man who knocked her unconscious lowered his eyes.

"The boss isn’t in her sound mind," said the man with this distinct tone of respect for the person he just knocked out. "I thought it would be best to put her to safety if she’s unconscious."

Normally, Dragon would agree with this decision. After all, it was logical and effective. He would’ve done it if not for this man. However, his eyes glinted in dismay, as if he disliked that this person knocked Hera out without his approval. Not just that, but the fact he knew the real reason this man did what he did.

"She’s no longer your boss," Dragon warned malevolently, making the man lower his eyes once again. "Act without my permission again or touch what’s mine without my permission, and that’ll be the last time you’ll ever use your hands."

"Yes."

Dragon clicked his tongue in irritation as he pulled Hera, carrying her in his arms in a bridal style. He turned on his heel, still surrounded by people from front and back.

"Reach out to Ram and tell him Dimitri took the bait," he said before he took a step, eyes glinting as he recalled the death of the executioner. His expression darkened. "And also, tell him it seemed Tiger might be working with him or alone. Nonetheless, that’s another problem."
