I, the Villain, Want to Save Myself, But the Yandere Heroines Disagree -
Chapter 3 - Interrogation
Watching the girls leave dejectedly, Orson then dropped the anger from his face and exchanged a smile with Olivia.
Their combined strength was certainly not weak. It was impossible for them not to have noticed someone following them. Orson had wanted to expose them from the beginning, but Olivia had a bit of a mischievous streak and wanted to deliberately annoy someone in front of a certain person.
She could just act spoiled while hugging the other party’s brother, and the other party could do nothing about it.
It felt like the frustrated rage of a wronged party.
“Alright, you’ve had your fun. Are you satisfied now?” Orson said with a smile.
“Mm. But you actually dared to punish Lianca. Aren’t you afraid your sister-in-law will resent you later? After all, Lianca knows absolutely nothing about magic theory.”
“Cough, since I punished them, I have to punish them all. Otherwise, the other two will think Lianca is being favored, which is also not good for Lianca.”
“That’s true,” Olivia nodded, then put her hands behind her back and walked in front of Orson.
“Let’s walk a bit more. It’s rare to have time alone with you, Orson. I really wish this time could be longer.”
...
On the other side, in the prison of Saint Roland City.
Inside the highest-security cell, two Tier 7 high-ranking knights were on duty at the entrance. In addition, the walls and door of the entire cell had been reinforced with magic power by several Tier 8 mages. It was impossible for an ordinary person to overcome the cell with brute force.
The prisoner confined in the cell was Raven, a vassal of the Duke of Napoli, who was accused of assassinating the former Duke Francois of Orleans.
Including Donny, Raven had served three generations of the Duke of Napoli’s linage. Now, after being forcibly divested of his mask and disguise, his concealed true face appeared to be that of a young man under thirty.
Sherlock, who had now become a prominent figure in the Saint Roland City security department, came with two record officers to the cell. After presenting her documents, she was granted permission to enter the cell.
Since the results of the previous case investigation were released, Sherlock had been burdened by a persistent knot in her heart – the truth.
Although many pieces of evidence were presented during the case closure, and ultimately pointed to the Napoli Duchy, Sherlock knew that the outcome of the case might not be as it was publicly announced.
Therefore, after Raven’s capture this time, Sherlock, who was responsible for the previous case investigation, naturally gained the authority to interrogate Raven.
Walking into the cell, it was separated by simple iron bars, looking quite insecure, especially since the person she was about to interrogate was a ruthless individual who had killed all of the Duke’s guards before killing the Duke himself.
Raven looked up, saw Sherlock enter, and made no movement.
Sherlock sat at the long table, looked at Raven before her, and began her interrogation.
“Suspect, Raven is just your code name, right? What is your real name?”
“I have no real name,” Raven answered quickly. “Since I can remember, I’ve been called Raven.”
“When did you start serving Giovanni?”
“...From the time he decided to kill his own father.”
Hearing this information, Sherlock was startled, then quickly had the record officers beside her mark this information as important.
This might be connected to another case.
“Could you please elaborate?”
“Yes,” Raven nodded, and then revealed everything about Giovanni’s plot to kill his own father and seize power in the Napoli Duchy.
“If it weren’t for my indifferent observation, or rather, my tacit agreement, Giovanni could not have done that.”
Raven finished recounting the incident, and nearly half an hour had passed. At this moment, Sherlock also realized that she had strayed from the main topic and quickly corrected the conversation.
“Then, Mr. Raven, may I ask, did you kill Duke Francois of Orleans?”
“I killed him,” Raven admitted openly.
“Why?”
“Because, for a very simple reason, at that time, the Napoli Duchy was under siege, and Saint Roland City was holding a meeting. So, to alleviate the pressure on the front line, we could only make some moves during the meeting. And it just so happened that the Duke of Orleans’ guards were the weakest, and they were attacked by others that day. I saw an opportunity, so I did it.”
Sherlock heard this, nodded, and then suddenly heard something unusual in Raven’s words.
“Wait, you said they were attacked by others that day?”
“You didn’t know about this?” Raven looked at Sherlock in confusion.
“That night, the Duke of Orleans deliberately took a detour on his way back, and then was attacked by local thugs. After dealing with the thugs, they didn’t take it seriously. Instead, they relaxed their guard, and I naturally made my move.”
Hearing this news, Sherlock’s eyes widened.
In other words, there was more than one person who planned to murder the Duke of Orleans!?
Although Raven openly admitted that he was the true murderer, the other party was likely an accomplice.
Sherlock immediately became alert. She carefully considered every question she asked next to ensure she didn’t miss any key information.
Half an hour later, Sherlock only felt her brain trembling slightly.
This matter was indeed not that simple.
Raven refused to admit that he had planted the crest of the Toulouse family in a warehouse owned by Prince Arthas’s businesses to frame him. Instead, he claimed that he had brought the crest of the Toulouse family back to the Napoli Duchy as a trophy, but it had simply vanished with the great fire set by the Duke of Napoli in the end.
As for the incident related to the so-called Hidden Orchid Tavern, Raven knew nothing at all.
And the black figure that Orson had chased after that night was not Raven at all, but someone else.
Sherlock naturally knew that Raven was likely lying, but she had sorted out the logic from Raven’s words. From Raven’s perspective, there was indeed no need for him to risk returning to Saint Roland City after committing the murder.
If Raven was not lying, there was only one explanation that made sense: someone else also wanted the Duke of Orleans dead, or achieved a certain goal through his death, thereby intentionally or unintentionally accelerating Raven’s assassination of Francois.
After the interrogation concluded, Sherlock walked out of the cell with the two record officers.
“The interrogation record for today will be handled as a top-secret document. Absolutely no one is allowed to reveal it externally,” Sherlock looked at the two interrogators beside her and instructed them.
“Understood,” the two subordinates nodded, then quickly hurried back to the security office.
Sherlock stood in place. At this moment, she suddenly thought of the question she had asked Orson when she met him not long ago.
Orson, did he really not lie to her?
Following the investigation results he gave her, could it be that it was truly something he had deliberately arranged?
