📢 New Novel Launch!
Chi Xing felt like he was suffocating as his neck was gripped tightly. He struggled desperately.
But Chi Yu was far stronger than him. The aura of the Desolate Meridian Realm surged endlessly, and the hand gripping his throat radiated brown spiritforce, as hard as steel.
Just as Chi Xing was about to pass out from lack of air, Chi Yu finally released his grip.
"How dare you!" Chi Xing gasped for breath, coughing violently as he glared at Chi Yu.
Chi Yu chuckled coldly. Brown spiritforce swirled around his fist as he punched Chi Xing hard in the stomach.
Chi Xing let out a miserable scream as his body was thrown backward, crashing into the courtyard wall.
Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth as he stared at Chi Yu in fear.
Chi Yu walked up, slightly lifted his chin, and said flatly, "That was a warning. If there’s a next time, the punch will land between your legs."
Chi Xing’s expression darkened. He wiped the blood from his mouth and quickly left the courtyard.
...
The sun rose, and another day began.
Xu Zimo pushed open the door, looking at the fallen leaves filling the courtyard and the cold, desolate air.
He frowned slightly, then spotted a tall figure walking through the courtyard gate.
The young man stepped on the dried leaves, his aura surging fiercely as he approached step by step.
"You need something?" Xu Zimo asked with a frown.
"What’s your relationship with Qianxue?" Chi Yu asked calmly.
He raised his head, sharp, deep eyes beneath short hair, his muscular build radiating discipline and focus.
"What’s it to you?" Xu Zimo replied coolly.
"If you won’t say, I’ll beat it out of you," Chi Yu said indifferently. "Only someone truly exceptional deserves Qianxue. I’ll always stay by her side to protect her from petty people with ill intentions."
"Another lovesick fool," Xu Zimo shook his head. "If you like her, go after her. Acting like some self-appointed guardian is pathetic."
Chi Yu narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Let’s fight. If you lose, you leave Qianxue."
"This is just meaningless jealousy," Xu Zimo said flatly. "Chi Qianxue isn’t an object, no one gets to 'win' her through a fight. And more importantly, you’re not even qualified to be my opponent."
"Who are you looking down on!" Chi Yu roared, spiritforce surging as red-brown aura engulfed him.
He slid his left foot back slightly, then launched a powerful punch toward Xu Zimo.
The force of the punch tore through the air with a sonic boom.
Xu Zimo remained calm. As the punch neared his face, the wind from the blow caused his hair to whip back.
He smiled lightly, raising his right palm slowly to meet the incoming fist.
Chi Yu’s punch collided with Xu Zimo’s hand. Red-brown energy burst in all directions.
Xu Zimo didn’t budge an inch, standing steady.
Chi Yu’s expression shifted. He roared again, his aura growing even more violent, and his fist even sharper.
"Pointless fight," Xu Zimo shook his head. "Whether you meant harm or not, you’re going to pay for offending me."
As he spoke, he suddenly grabbed Chi Yu’s right fist. Stepping forward, his arm muscles flexed as he grasped Chi Yu’s wrist and smashed him straight down to the ground.
Boom! Dust flew as Chi Yu’s body slammed into the earth.
But Xu Zimo didn’t stop. With his arm swinging back and forth, he flung Chi Yu’s body left and right, smashing him into the ground again and again.
He did it for a long while, seemingly not satisfied.
Eventually, he walked over to the purple-grain tree in the courtyard, dragging Chi Yu’s bloodied body, and slammed him hard into the tree.
"Stop!" A sharp voice rang out as Chi Qianxue rushed in through the courtyard gate.
Xu Zimo chuckled lightly, glanced at the battered Chi Yu, and muttered, "You’re lucky."
"What are you doing?" Chi Qianxue frowned as she looked at Chi Yu’s state and questioned Xu Zimo.
"He challenged me, so I accepted," Xu Zimo replied casually.
Chi Qianxue frowned deeper. She understood Chi Yu’s personality, he probably provoked this himself.
Sighing, she took out a pill from her storage ring, knelt down, and placed it into Chi Yu’s mouth.
Xu Zimo watched without saying a word, then returned to his room.
After the pill took effect, Chi Yu slowly regained consciousness.
"Are you okay?" Chi Qianxue asked, her voice tinged with complex emotions.
Chi Yu smiled weakly and silently looked at Chi Qianxue.
"I’ll take you back to your room," she offered.
"No need. I can manage," Chi Yu quickly shook his head, his face slightly red.
This martial arts-obsessed man only ever showed his age and awkwardness when facing Chi Qianxue.
He tried to stand up, but his injuries were severe. Though mostly surface wounds, the pain overwhelmed him, and he dropped back down.
"Enough. Stop pretending," Chi Qianxue said as she supported him by the shoulder and led him step by step out of Xu Zimo’s courtyard.
...
The purple-grain tree still stood alone in the courtyard when the sound of footsteps crunching leaves echoed once more.
Xu Zimo looked toward the entrance, Little Gui hurried in.
"Back already?" Xu Zimo asked in surprise.
He remembered Chi Qianxue had taken Little Gui out earlier, and he had given him a week.
"Senior Brother, I almost didn’t make it back," Little Gui said urgently.
"What happened?" Xu Zimo frowned.
He knew Jiang Mochou had obtained the third strongest Battle Physique, but his own cultivation was only at the Meridian Forging Realm, far from being able to fully unleash its power.
Little Gui, on the other hand, was at the peak of the True Meridian Realm, almost at Desolate Meridian. Capturing Jiang Mochou shouldn’t have been hard.
...
"Senior Brother, I was tracking him just fine, but halfway through, I was discovered by an old man," Little Gui explained.
"Old man? You recognize him?" Xu Zimo asked, brows furrowing.
"No, I’ve never seen him before. He took Jiang Mochou with him, and even captured me," Little Gui said. "That old guy is incredibly strong, I didn’t stand a chance."
"If he wanted to kill me, I’d be dead. The only reason I’m alive is because he didn’t intend to."
"Also, he told me to pass on a message to you."
"What message?" Xu Zimo asked.
"'Fate cannot be changed. Some things are destined, and one day, they will come to pass.'" Little Gui said. "Those were his exact words."
