I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 85: Yuri Shock Everyone
Chapter 85: Yuri Shock Everyone
Under the wary gazes of many, two mechas—one red, one green—rushed toward the pair of level-five insectoids.
"Should we distract them first?" Yuri asked. The insectoids were currently hot on the tails of their fighter jets and mechas, making it challenging for them to strike.
"I’ll do it." Tuss replied.
The two mechas traced an arc in the sky, passing the insectoids in a showy, provocative manner, leaving behind a cloud of exhaust as they went.
"Quite the show-off." Someone commented in the public chat.
"You should’ve seen him on Planet Alpha. Now that was a show." Someone else chimed in.
"I did. Hence the ’quite’."
"Watch out, or Tuss might come after you."
"He can’t argue with the truth."
Tuss: "....I wasn’t piloting the mecha then."
Yuri: "......Everyone in the Alliance knows you were."
Roar.
Angered, the two insectoids screeched, abruptly halted in mid-air, and made a sharp U-turn to chase after Tuss.
Tuss dodged left, then right, then performed spins and flips.
The ridiculed insectoids grew increasingly furious, the flames in their vertical pupils nearly spouting out.
"Tuss is asking for trouble."
"He might be seeking death."
"Yuri needs to rein him in. He’s a family man now, yet he’s still acting flamboyantly."
"...."
Unable to bear it any longer, Yuri once again turned off the public chat.
"Keep some distance. I’m going to strike." Yuri warned, as her psychic power surged to its maximum. Her line of sight revealed everything in meticulous detail, as if time had slowed.
"Roger that." Tuss replied. In the next second, he accelerated suddenly, and his mecha shot forward like a beam of light.
As she fired the first shell, Yuri’s target wasn’t one of the insectoids, but Tuss ahead.
"Oh my, what is she doing? Attempting to murder her own husband?" Someone queried.
Everyone watched as the shell flew toward Tuss, their hearts in their throats.
Almost simultaneously, Yuri fired a series of shells. Oddly enough, none were aimed at the insectoids.
"Ridiculous." The commander slammed his hand down on the table in exasperation.
But in the next second, under everyone’s wide-eyed gazes, the first shell hit squarely in the back of one of the level-five insectoids.
The other insectoid hastily tried to dodge, but just as it swerved, another shell hit it.
The initial two shells found their targets. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth followed suit, all hitting their mark.
Yuri had launched six shells in total—three for each insectoid, divided evenly.
After six resonating booms, the deafening noise finally ceased.
The public chat channel fell eerily silent. Everyone, including those on the military channel, was still in shock.
"Weren’t they talking about an Omega, a first-year student who’s not even in the mecha combat department?"
"Did they trick us?"
That was the question lingering in the minds of all the soldiers present.
Suddenly, an excited shout shattered the silence in the chat.
"Did I just see what I think I saw?"
"If you’re referring to the fact that six cannonballs took out two level-five insectoids in less than a minute, then yes, that is exactly what you saw," someone responded with a pinch on their arm.
"How did she manage that?"
"I’ve noticed that whenever Yuri is involved, the most common question is ’how did she do it?’ Unlike me, I’ve given up on the answers and just enjoy watching her steal the show."
"She’s so cool. God, I love her."
"Dude, Tuss is in this chatroom. Be careful."
"There are tons of people on the interstellarnet claiming their love for Yuri and wanting to marry her. Can Tuss take all of them down?"
"I suppose not. Then, I feel relieved. I declare Yuri as my goddess from now on."
Silence fell.
Tuss left the public chat channel with a dark face.
After the dust had settled, everyone rushed over to check the status of the two level-five insectoids.
Seeing the bodies on the ground, they were once again rendered speechless. Each insectoid had been hit with three cannonballs, all striking the same spot.
"No wonder. Without all three hits in the same place, they wouldn’t be able to kill a level-five insectoid," a soldier muttered.
"Is the defense of a level-five insectoid really that extraordinary? The energy waves from those cannonballs reduced a building a hundred meters away to rubble," a military school student pointed to a pile of dust in the distance and said.
"If you want to know how extraordinary the defense of a level-five insectoid is, just look at its other parts. Are they intact?" the soldier asked back.
The military school student just noticed that other than the wounds from the cannonballs, the insectoids were indeed intact. He mumbled, "Impressive."
"Plus, these cannonballs had the power of level-six artillery, not level-five," the soldier added.
"Level-six." Tyrone widened his eyes, turned his head to Hoolin and asked, "Why do we only have level-five?"
Hoolin touched his nose and said, "It’s a matter of capability gap. We don’t deserve level-six yet."
Tyrone sighed, "You don’t have to be so blunt."
Hoolin: "..."
Yuri fell asleep again. When Tuss found her, he was so worried that he frowned. As he was considering whether to move her to a better place to sleep, a call from the commander came in.
"Tuss, you and your wife did an excellent job. You have made a great contribution," the commander’s voice was filled with excitement.
"You’re too kind," Tuss responded calmly. If it wasn’t for these people’s distrust, Yuri wouldn’t have chosen to exhaust a large amount of psychic power to deal with the two level-five insectoids in less than a minute.
They could have taken their time to wear down the insectoids. Yuri didn’t need to exhaust herself so much.
Tuss pursed his lips, feeling upset. He was upset with the commander and himself.
He was still too weak.
The commander detected the coldness in his voice and ended the call after promising to reward them.
Tuss came out of his own mech and knocked on the door of Yuri’s mecha. The door opened. As soon as he entered the mecha, Yuri muttered something unclear, "I gave you the authority."
Tuss was pleased. He knew the authority Yuri referred to was the permission to enter and exit her mecha at will.
"I’ve also given you the authority," Tuss squeezed into the rest cabin, hugged Yuri, and whispered in her ear.
But Yuri had already fallen asleep.
The scent of pheromones filled every corner of the mech, and the sleeping Yuri slowly relaxed.
Tuss gently massaged her temples, and soon, he fell asleep too.
"Found them, they’re here," Hoolin pointed at the two parallel mechs in front of them.
"Hush, don’t make noise. They must be asleep," Tyrone reminded.
"Well, we’re tired too. And our houses have been destroyed, so we might as well sleep here," Hoolin said quietly.
"Yeah, let’s rest. We can also protect them, I mean, prevent others from disturbing them," Tyrone added.
