I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 72: Can She Be Useful?

Chapter 72: Can She Be Useful?

The cause of death of the Level 5 insectoid queen became a mystery. Apart from knowing that it endured immense pain before its death, they could discern no other clues.

"Maybe if we dissect its body, thoroughly examine its brain and organs, we could find the answers," someone suggested.

Immediately, there was an objection. "Such a perfectly preserved corpse, you want to cut into it? If we turn it into a specimen and exhibit it across the planets of the Alliance, it would be in high demand."

"Could it be that we’re overthinking? Maybe it was just killed by the pheromone of an SSS-tier alpha."

"The odds of that are only fifty percent."

"Then let’s wait for the higher-ups to decide. Whether we dissect it or turn it into a specimen, we just follow orders."

When Officer Lyao communicated with Tuss, Tuss had just woken up. He glanced at Yuri, still in deep sleep, tiptoed out of the lev, and walked three meters away before accepting the call.

"Find a place where you’re alone," Officer Lyao cut to the chase.

Tuss glanced around. Somehow, everyone had gathered here, set up camp, and made it a temporary resting place.

He strode to an open space, making sure there was no one within fifty meters before saying, "You can speak now."

"Was the Insectoid Queen killed by Yuri?" Officer Lyao asked, but his tone was filled with certainty.

Tuss grunted in response, asking, "Did you find out?"

Officer Lyao shook his head. "Not yet, but once the body is transported back to Alpha, it’s hard to say."

At his words, Tuss frowned, "Then don’t send it back."

A twitch appeared at the corner of Officer Lyao’s mouth. "The news has already been sent back. Many want this body. I can’t decide. And if I interfere forcefully, it might seem suspicious and raise more questions. Ultimately, the commotion you caused was too big."

"In that situation, we didn’t have a choice. Yuri only acted out of desperation," Tuss defended Yuri.

Officer Lyao chuckled, "I’m not blaming you. You did well. If it weren’t for you, the entire Planet 132 would’ve been in danger." Without a warship or top-tier mecha, killing a Level 5 insectoid queen would be like a madman’s dream.

Tuss didn’t feel joy from the praise. Instead, he said, "The Alliance was too careless." If the military hadn’t overlooked one insectoid queen, Yuri wouldn’t have needed to intervene.

Officer Lyao choked on his words. After a moment, he said, "Regardless, prepare Yuri for the possibility of being exposed. She is truly..."

Officer Lyao paused for three seconds before adding, "Too conspicuous."

A proud look crossed Tuss’s face as he said, "You’re absolutely right."

Officer Lyao: "..."

After ending the conversation with Tuss, Officer Lyao thought for a moment, got up, and went to find the First Commander.

As the First Commander was dealing with documents, he asked without lifting his head, "What do you think are the chances of her being exposed?"

"Less than sixty percent," Officer Lyao replied. After all, something like the psychic power was too difficult to monitor.

"What are you worried about?" The First Commander glanced at his trusted subordinate before diving back into his work.

"Yuri is too outstanding. As an Omega, she stands out too much. No, even among Alphas and Betas, she’s still the most dazzling. I have a gut feeling that we can’t keep this a secret for long," Officer Lyao shared his concern.

The First Commander looked up, surprise evident on his face, "You actually think we can keep it a secret for a long time?"

Officer Lyao asked, puzzled, "What do you mean...?"

"Many have already started questioning my mental state," the First Commander sighed. "In the past month, I’ve been eating well, sleeping well, and feeling like I’ve shed a decade."

Officer Lyao gave the First Commander a closer look. His face was indeed more vibrant and healthier than before.

"What did you tell them?" Officer Lyao asked.

"I told them my wife used a starstone. Although her rank did not increase, she did reach the peak of SS-tier and her ability to groom my Sea of Consciousness is much more refined," the First Commander explained.

Only a Beta who has been completely marked can refine the Sea of Consciousness for the Alpha that marked her. Others can’t pry into his wife’s abilities.

"But there are other SS-tier Betas who have used the starstone, not just my wife. So, over time, someone will notice."

"What should we do then?"

"Let it be," the First Commander said calmly. The bright and brilliant young girl doesn’t necessarily need to hide herself. What she wants is freedom.

Yuri slept for a long time. By the time she woke up, the insectoid queen’s body outside the lev had already been taken away, and everyone else had left.

The only ones left to guard her were about a dozen soldiers.

Yuri checked the time and raised her eyebrows in surprise. She had actually slept for three days and two nights.

Yuri leisurely freshened up and changed clothes before stepping out of the lev with a tube of Nutrient Fluids.

"Where did Tuss go?" Yuri asked a soldier.

"The insectoid queen laid many eggs on Planet 132, hatching tens of thousands of insectoids. All the students among the volunteers have gone to exterminate them," the soldier replied in a formal manner.

Meanwhile, Daleks and other students from Military Academy No. 1 were slumped on the ground, gulping Nutrient Fluids while their eyes were fixed on the ongoing battle. There, Tuss wielded a machete, wreaking havoc everywhere.

Tyrone commented, "During the competition with the Empire, Tuss never used his legs and I thought those new legs were weak. Gosh... Now I think he probably didn’t use them because he didn’t want to finish the battle too quickly, sparing the Empire’s dignity."

Vernon asked, "Where did he get those legs? They’re even better than my natural ones. Daleks, do you know?"

Daleks replied, "Never asked. Why would we? We don’t need to know."

Vernon suggested, "Maybe one day we might?"

Delamak added, "It’s not entirely impossible. Seeing Tuss, I suddenly feel that losing an arm or a leg isn’t scary."

The others chimed in, "No, not only is it not scary, we’re even looking forward to it."

Ender twitched his mouth, "Stop it. Be realistic, you are not Tuss. If you lose a leg, you’re disabled. Don’t forget, Tuss only became this powerful after re-differentiation."

Everyone recalled Tuss’s devastated appearance when he lost his leg and his tier dropped, which sobered them up considerably.

"But Tuss’s legs are really incredible, the strength and speed are probably twice mine," Vernon commented.

Tyrone shook his head, "I suspect it’s more than that. He’s not using his full strength."

Vernon’s face stiffened, and he bit the straw of his Nutrient Fluids with a huff, "Forget it, I’m not comparing myself to a non-human."

"Does Tuss seem off?" Delamak asked with concern.

At that moment, Tuss was ahead of them, fending off the insectoids. This gave them the chance to rest and consume their Nutrient Fluids.

"His Sea of Consciousness is in chaos, and his heat period is coming soon. It’d be strange if he was normal," Ender commented.

The others’ faces enlightened, saying, "Poor insectoid pups. They didn’t stand a chance."

Looking at the dwindling number of insectoids, they glanced at each other. Someone suggested, "Should we leave the rest to Tuss?"

"Is that enough?"

Given Tuss’s ferociousness, it might not be enough.

"What if he comes looking for a fight after killing all the insectoids?"

"Can I run away first if I can’t beat him?"

"As if we can fight him in the first place."

Watching the number of insectoids decrease rapidly, everyone became anxious.

"I’ll try contacting Yuri to see if she can help," Ender suggested.

Everyone who didn’t know that Yuri was a Beta: "Would her coming help?"

Daleks and Kilana nodded emphatically, "Very helpful."
