I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 47: Unexpected Visitors at Home

Chapter 47: Unexpected Visitors at Home

In the peaceful room, only the gentle breathing filled the air.

Yuri nestled against Tuss’s chest, her ear pressed to his firm torso, tuning into the steady and powerful rhythm of his heartbeat.

Neither of them spoke, simply remaining in their positions: her lying flat, him half-lying beside her, cradling her partially in his arms.

Just when she assumed he had dozed off, his voice broke the silence, "Yuri?"

Yuri didn’t respond.

"Yuri," he repeated, proceeding without waiting for her answer, "Why did you agree to marry me? Why were you so kind to me?"

"Because you had an ore planet," Yuri confessed honestly.

"I thought as much. After acquiring Enova, I had a hunch," Tuss stated, showing no signs of disappointment. "And now, since the ore planet isn’t of much use to you, would you consider leaving me?"

Tuss’s candid question during the heat period surprised Yuri. She pondered his question seriously before finally responding, "Not for now. Can’t say about the future."

Tuss tightened his hold on her as his heartbeat raced.

Yuri shifted slightly but offered no promises.

She hadn’t thought about leaving for even once. Both she and Tuss were handicapped, both had Enova, and Tuss’s appearance and temperament were to her liking. Even if they couldn’t be lovers, he was her closest companion.

Not to mention their current status as husband and wife under the law. Until they divorced, she didn’t even have private property. Thus, she’d have nowhere to go if she split up with him now.

Lost in thought, Yuri fell asleep unknowingly.

Holding her, Tuss listened to her steady breathing. The room darkened, filling with the cool, woody fragrance emanating from him, permeating every corner of the room, especially the bed, where the aroma was so thick it almost seemed foggy.

In her sleep, Yuri, unlike during the day, didn’t shy away from this scent. Instead, she snuggled closer to him, like a small creature, twitching her adorable nose until she was up against his skin. Only then did she seem content, quieting down.

"Little rascal," Tuss gently teased, poking Yuri’s face. "We are so well-suited, aren’t we?"

In the middle of the night, Yuri’s temperature suddenly rose. Tuss opened his eyes immediately and injected a suppressant into her before she had time to react.

Yuri stirred, coming to when she felt someone touching her. Seeing it was Tuss, she closed her eyes again.

"Have some water," Tuss suggested, bringing a cup of warm water to her lips.

Propping herself up, Yuri noticed her clothes were drenched through, and something was uncomfortably sticky.

Her face turned crimson instantly. She couldn’t bring herself to meet Tuss’s gaze and mumbled, "Could you step out? I need to change."

Seeing her blushing face, Tuss felt a sudden heat surge through him. As a flush of blood rushed downward, he bolted from the room in a panic.

Tuss dashed back to his own room and took a cold shower that lasted half an hour.

On the other side, Yuri had already changed her clothes and even replaced the sheets, tossing them into the washing machine. If she continued to sweat this much, and didn’t promptly clean the sheets, she’d undoubtedly run out.

She leaned against the headboard, first gulping down a large glass of water and then leisurely sipped from a bottle of Nutrient Fluids. As soon as Tuss had left, feelings of emptiness and loneliness overwhelmed her again, sinking her mood.

Looking for a distraction, Yuri’s first thought was to study. So, she turned on the interstellarnet, set up the screen projection, and the robotic teacher appeared in the room.

Yuri strived to immerse herself fully in her studies.

When Tuss entered and saw this, he was confused, asking, "What are you doing?"

"Taking a class, can’t you tell?" Yuri retorted without turning her head.

Tuss didn’t say anything but moved directly towards her, sitting on the bed and naturally pulling her into his arms.

Yuri didn’t resist because she realized that the moment Tuss appeared, her anxiety, irritation, unease, and loneliness... they all drifted away. She was back to her normal self.

It was truly amazing.

Yuri chuckled wryly.

"Is this a middle school lesson?" Tuss asked, puzzled.

"Yeah, I’ll be going back to school in two months, just revising some old stuff." Yuri’s tone was calm, showing no signs of guilt.

Tuss didn’t doubt her, saying instead, "I’ll study with you."

Yuri leaned into Tuss’s arms, finding a comfortable position, and grumbled while listening to the lesson, "Why are there so many subjects?"

Tuss looked surprised at the girl who had once excelled academically to join Military Academy No. 1 and mocked, "I thought you liked studying."

During their time together, he’d frequently noticed her browsing various educational websites on the interstellarnet.

Yuri shook her head, "Not all subjects, only the ones that interest me."

"Like building mechas?" Tuss inquired, knowing Yuri was a mecha manufacturing student.

Yuri pondered seriously. Building mechas should be interesting, right? After all, isn’t my strongest skill dealing with metals?

"Then you should only revise the knowledge related to mecha manufacturing," Tuss suggested.

That was exactly what Yuri wanted. But which subjects are relevant to mecha manufacturing? Yuri was perplexed.

"Didn’t the school give us free access to their educational system for study? Haven’t you used it?" Tuss asked.

Yuri froze; she’d completely forgotten about it.

Laughing, Tuss ruffled her hair, "You can go check it out now."

Yuri spent the rest of her night navigating through the school’s online system.

Seeing her engrossed in her studies, Tuss had no choice but to join her. While Yuri was learning about mecha manufacturing, he was studying mecha combat and command strategies.

The next morning, when a well-rested Vernon was informed by Jo about the chaos he pulled the previous night, he was mortified.

"I ruined Tuss’s housewarming dinner?" asked Vernon, paled.

Jo nodded, "You could say that. You nearly caused an accident."

Vernon slapped himself, "It’s all because I can’t hold my liquor."

"I find it strange; your pheromone scent is of alcohol, how can you get drunk?" A classmate chimed in, puzzled.

Vernon: "....I also want to know why."

First, Vernon went to apologize to the two betas, then waited in the living room for Tuss and Yuri, intending to apologize to them in person.

However, they waited a long time, and around eleven o’clock, there was still no sign of anyone coming downstairs.

"Did something happen?" asked someone, worried.

Considering that both Tuss and Yuri were disabled, others began to worry too, suggesting, "We should go up and check."

When Jo and Vernon were climbing the stairs, Tuss in the room heard the noise. His scent abruptly changed.

Fearing that the sleeping Yuri in his arms would be disturbed, he gently got up, opened the door, went out, and then softly closed the door.

Just as Jo and others reached the top of the stairs, they bumped into Tuss, who was looking cold. Vernon, who was guilty, shivered and quickly took a step back.

"Can I help you?" Tuss asked, his tone icy.

"I, I came to apologize." Vernon said bravely.

"There’s no need." Tuss was still cold.

Everyone looked at each other; they instinctively felt that Tuss was dangerous at the moment.

Jo took the lead in saying goodbye, and others quickly followed suit. They raced out of the luxurious mansion as if they were escaping.

It wasn’t until they were about a hundred meters away that Jo and Vernon slowed down.

"Tuss is an omega now, isn’t he? So why does he still make me shiver so easily?" Vernon was confused.

"Not just you. I also felt uncomfortable. Tuss seems even scarier than before." A slim girl said, patting her chest. Her delicate face was slightly pale.

"I thought I detected a faint woody scent." Another beta said.

"Woody scent? Tuss’s pheromone? That can’t be right; he’s no longer an alpha. Thanos even made a special effort to check. The alpha column in his identity certificate is empty." Vernon said.

After Thanos confirmed this fact, he even threw a party to celebrate. Therefore, the fact that Tuss was no longer an alpha should be true.

"Then perhaps I made a mistake." The beta said, but deep down, she was confident. The cold, woody scent—she was sure she’d smelt it.

Jo and others had just left when Daleks and Ender’s communication requests came in. Tuss frowned, hesitated for a while before accepting the call.

"What’s up?" Tuss asked impatiently.

"Bro, why do you look so unsatisfied in the middle of the day?" Daleks said.

Tuss’s face darkened, "Speak quickly."

"We agreed yesterday to test your alpha level today." Daleks said.

Tuss frowned, "Did I agree?"

"We took your silence as consent." Ender stated as a matter of fact.

"I’m busy." Tuss coldly refused.

"Why are you busy? What do you have to do? Or are you scared to go because you’re afraid your tier has decreased?" Daleks bombarded him with questions.

Tuss glanced at him and said, "Heat period."

"Holy sh*t."

Ender and Daleks spoke at the same time, and both shivered even through the screen. They quickly advised, "Then you should rest at home and avoid going out unnecessarily."

Tuss snorted lightly, ending the communication.

In the room, Yuri woke up feverish again. She tried to get up to inject herself with suppressants, but her body was soft as water, devoid of any strength.

"Tuss——" she called out, then covered her mouth in shock the next second. Is that frail voice really mine?

Someone outside heard her voice and hastily pushed the door open.

As soon as Tuss opened the door, the fresh scent of grass after rain rushed over him, relaxing every cell in his body. His usually cold gaze softened as he said, "I’m here, what’s wrong?"

"Come and help me inject the suppressants." Yuri tried to make her voice sound less strange. However, she didn’t know that her voice, as it fell on Tuss’s ears, was still frail and soft, a stark contrast from her usually cold demeanor.

Half of Tuss’s body had gone numb. He released his own pheromone, a harmonious blend of wood scents.

For two consecutive days, Yuri didn’t leave the room. Tuss also barely went out, other than occasionally returning to his own room to soak in cold water to cool off, or to answer Daleks and Ender’s communication requests.

One day, as Tuss was accompanying Yuri in her studies, Daleks and Ender sent another communication request.

Tuss left the bed and moved to the couch before accepting the call.

"Someone better be dead," Tuss’s tone was dangerous.

"Tsk, tsk, we’re worried about you, that’s why we check in on you from time to time. Otherwise, do you think we like putting up with your bad temper?" Daleks said, rolling his eyes.

"No need." Tuss coldly rejected.

"Maybe I could send you a few bottles of beta pheromone incense. I always use it during my heat period, it’s very useful." Ender offered.

"No need." Tuss rejected again.

"It must be hard to endure the heat period without any betas around, right?" Daleks looked at Tuss with sympathy in his eyes.

Tuss chuckled coldly, "You make it sound like you have any."

Daleks choked on his words but stubbornly retorted, "We will, in the future."

"Get to the point." Tuss’s hand was already on the ’end call’ button, seeming about to press it any second.

"Your father asked us for the address of your new home, I told him. He should be visiting you soon." Ender quickly blurted out.

After saying that, he ended the call first.

Yuri, who was nearby and had heard the entire conversation, asked, "Your father is coming?"

"He’s probably coming for the starstone." Tuss said.

"The stone no longer has anything to do with us, we can’t decide if our family betas have the access to it, right?" Yuri asked. She hadn’t been paying attention after handing the stone to the military. Now she wondered, If people from the Hiro family are coming for the starstone, wouldn’t people from my family come too?

"The list of the betas are still under discussion. With so many people drooling at it, this is going to be a long battle." Tuss explained.

The people from the Hiro family arrived quickly. Not just the Hiro family, the Cheng family arrived as well.

Tuss didn’t invite them into the manor, meeting them at the gate instead.

"Yuri and I don’t get to decide who’s going to use the starstone. It has already been exchanged for this manor." Tuss stated bluntly.

The faces of Darth, Nero, and the others turned extremely ugly, especially the betas who came with them.

"The starstone was brought back by you, asking for two quotas is not difficult." Darth said.

"I can’t ask for that, it was a deal made fair and square." Tuss’s tone was firm.

Darth was angry and said, "You ungrateful brat, you didn’t think of your own family and instead make outsiders benefit, how does that make sense?"

Tuss laughed and said, "You think I get to decide whether to hand it over or not? Didn’t you see the day when starships and mechas filled the skies of Planet Alpha trying to get us? Do you think I could choose not to hand it over?"

Darth had no comeback for this, he merely said, "We will discuss the matter of the starstone later, now, shouldn’t you invite us in for a sit?"

"You wouldn’t want to come in." Tuss blocked the entrance, the cold, woody scent spreading out.

Darth’s face changed, and alphas with slightly weaker levels than him collapsed on the spot. Betas like Meliena and her mother were also scared by this domineering pheromone, hastily retreating backwards.

"What’s going on with your pheromone?" Darth wanted to step forward, but was suppressed by the domineering pheromone, unable to approach Tuss.

"I don’t know." Tuss replied impatiently.

"Pack up your pheromone, let’s sit down and have a good talk." Darth’s tone became much softer.

"I can’t, I’m in heat." Tuss said, and then with a bang, he closed the door.

With the door closed, the people from the Hiro family and the Cheng family looked at each other.

"Mr. Hiro, what should we do now?" Nero asked.

Darth stared at the closed door, his mind in a turmoil. His abandoned son’s alpha tier seemed to have recovered. If that was the case, then he’ll just...

"He’s still a cripple." Meliena cut in without reservation.

Darth was taken aback, the fervor in his heart cooling off instantly. That’s right, he’s still a cripple, destined to never achieve anything significant in the future.
