I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 22: Becoming Omega
Chapter 22: Becoming Omega
After donning her clothes and downing a bottle of Nutrient Fluid, Yuri was led by a nurse to Tuss’s ward. There, she not only found Tuss, but also Zeek, Cass, Edgar, and others, each submerged in a green liquid. It was clear as day that they were all naked under the fluid.
"Your husband was the most injured," the nurse said, her eyes filled with sympathy as she looked at Yuri. "When he wakes up, there’s a high chance he’ll be reduced to a mere omega."
Out of nearly ten thousand people abducted and successively tormented by pirates and insectoids, only a few hundred survived. Yuri was handed a set of bedding and was assigned to live with these survivors in a place like a training room.
Everyone had survived a calamity, but having lost family members or friends, their spirits were heavily burdened. The entire training room was eerily silent, their voices deliberately hushed when they spoke.
The next day, Zeek, Cass, Edgar, and Priscilla, among others, woke up one by one. Their injuries had been treated and they were generally okay, except for a persistent headache.
Tuss did not awaken until eight o’clock in the evening. As Yuri watched him approach in a wheelchair, she had a moment of disconcerting déjà vu. It felt as though him sitting in that wheelchair was a scene from a long time ago.
Their eyes met—his clear and impassive, hers burning with intensity, a connection spanning eternity. Yuri was the first to break the contact, her gaze dropping as her mind swirled with chaotic thoughts.
On Tuss’s wheelchair was also a roll of bedding. Zeek helped him arrange it, choosing a spot on Yuri’s right, while Priscilla was on her left.
"We were damn lucky this time," Edgar sighed, still shaken. "Had we not come across a patrolling warship, we’d be dust by now."
Priscilla, lying there with her head still spinning, agreed with a scared expression, "That was a rollercoaster ride of good and bad luck, and one I never want to go through again."
"Once we’re back, we can boast to our classmates that we’ve been to the Chaotic Galaxy," Cass said, sounding a bit excited.
Priscilla rolled her eyes, "Boasting about spending over a month mining? If you aren’t embarrassed, I certainly will be."
She then looked over at Yuri and Tuss, thinking to herself: "There’s nothing noteworthy about mining, but the gossip about the former top student of Military Academy No. 1 and his newlywed wife is definitely worth dishing."
"When we reach the transfer station, the fleet will let us off. We’re going back to Planet Alpha, what about you two?" Edgar asked Yuri and Tuss.
Military Academy No. 1 and No. 2 were both on Planet Alpha, and they needed to return to classes. He didn’t ask directly if Tuss and Yuri were going back to school because he knew they had taken a leave of absence. But he also knew their homes were on Planet Alpha.
"We’re heading to the Gamma Galaxy," Tuss replied.
"That’s in the completely opposite direction of Planet Alpha. What a shame, I was hoping we could travel together," Cass lamented.
"We three were originally on a practical assignment. Now that it’s incomplete and the deadline has passed, we’ll go back to school first to see how the teacher arranges things," Edgar explained.
"What are you going to the Gamma Galaxy for? A vacation?" Priscilla asked.
Tuss looked at Yuri, his gaze soft, "To take a long rest."
...
A few days later, when Aunt Flow came to visit, Yuri was completely taken aback.
She had been in this body for two months and had completely forgotten about this.
Yuri curled up, her lower abdomen twitching with pain, her face pale and bloodless.
In the darkness, Tuss abruptly opened his eyes, sensing the scent of blood.
His first reaction was to look at Yuri, to ensure her safety. Turning his head, he saw Yuri biting her lip, her face deathly pale.
Tuss immediately panicked, "Where do you feel uncomfortable? I’ll call the doctor."
As he said this, he began to move towards his wheelchair.
"I’m fine," Yuri stopped him, her face flushing slightly, "Just period pains."
Tuss stared blankly for two seconds, then averted his gaze, "Do you have everything you need?"
"No," Yuri’s voice was low, burying her head in the blanket.
"I’ll go get it." Tuss’s ears turned red. After speaking, he climbed onto his wheelchair and sped off.
Yuri, hiding in her blanket, covered her face. She had lived two lifetimes, she wondered why she was still feeling embarrassed about a period.
Tuss returned in less than ten minutes.
He handed a bag to Yuri, his voice filled with concern, "Can you walk?"
"I can." Yuri stood up, took the bag, and with Tuss watching, she slowly made her way to the bathroom. With each step she took, it was like a river of blood flowed between her legs.
By the time she reached the bathroom, her pants were beyond saving.
Yuri opened the bag to find not only sanitary products but also a pair of pants. It was a very thoughtful assortment.
Looking at the small pants, Yuri’s face flushed hot.
After calming down and the heat on her face receding, Yuri slowly made her way back. When she returned, she found her bedroll not only cleaned but also with an additional blanket, and a cup of water was by the pillow.
She glanced to Tuss on the right side of the bed, only seeing the back of his head.
She let out a quiet sigh of relief.
The rustling sound from behind Tuss felt like a brush dancing on his heart, tickling him. Tuss resisted the impulse to turn around and look until the person behind him laid down and the sound of steady breathing reached him. He then closed his eyes and soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
The transfer station was a small planet. The first thing Yuri, Tuss, and the others needed to do upon landing was to replace their opticomputers.
The opticomputer was officially issued, akin to a combination of an ID card and a smartphone from her previous world, but of course, its functions far exceeded those two.
The replacement process for Yuri, Zeek, Edgar, and others was simple and uneventful. However, when it came to Tuss, a minor disturbance occurred.
"Mr. Tuss, your medical records indicate that you were jointly diagnosed by military doctors and an A-tier beta. They concluded that you no longer possess the Sea of Consciousness that an alpha should have. Your glands have also atrophied and fallen off, making you no different from an omega now. We need to erase your third gender category in the records. Do you have any objections to this?" the staff member asked.
Edgar, Cass, and Priscilla were all startled, looking at Tuss in astonishment. They exclaimed, "Just a few days ago, he had a Sea of Consciousness eruption? How did it become ——"
"It’s been like this since that one time." Tuss interrupted them, "Not being an alpha is a good thing for me, it saves me a lot of trouble."
The three looked at his legs, lost in thought.
Yuri’s eyes held a hint of envy as she thought, "What’s so great about being an alpha or a beta? They had to face sensitive period, heat cycles, and those things like spiritual eruption and marking... Those things were so troublesome and restrictive."
After parting ways with Edgar and the others, Yuri, Tuss, and Zeek continued on to the ore planet.
Three days later, they disembarked from the starship, rented a small starship, and after half a day’s journey, they finally reached the ore planet.
"This is an ore planet that has been mined before," Tuss confessed to Yuri. "The remaining minerals are some worthless metals, and it’s not very valuable to mine."
Yuri had a particular enthusiasm for the ore planet, which she didn’t hide, and both Tuss and Zeek noticed.
Tuss thought that saying this would disappoint her, but to his surprise, Yuri still had a smile on her face, saying impatiently, "I want to go see."
"I’ll go too." Tuss wasn’t comfortable with her going alone.
