Chapter 3 I Am the Sixth Prince of the Golden Crow Clan, Heir of the Demon Court!

Next came the storytelling part. He needed to craft a convincing backstory for this secret realm. As Ling Chen strolled through the secret realm, he contemplated deeply.

When it came to the Golden Crow, the first thing that came to his mind was the mythological figures from the Great Desolation—Emperor Jun and Donghuang Taiyi.

These two were three-legged Golden Crows born from the Sun Star, considered the progenitors of the Golden Crow race, and lived gloriously legendary lives.

They were among the three thousand guests of the Purple Heaven Palace and had listened to the teachings of the Dao Ancestor Hongjun. Later, they united the many powerful beings of the demon race across the desolate lands and established the grand Demon Court, a force that ruled over the thirty-three heavens and contended for supremacy with the Witch Clan.

There was an abundance of material to draw from here. Aside from those two, there were also the ten sons of Emperor Jun—figures woven into myths like Hou Yi shooting down the suns and Kuafu chasing the sun.

That was it! He would use the identity of a Golden Crow prince!

Ling Chen quickly laid out the storyline.

He would assign this drop of Golden Crow essence blood the identity of the Sixth Prince of the ancient Demon Court’s Golden Crow Clan. With that as the foundation, he crafted a series of fragmented memory scenes and embedded them into the Golden Crow essence blood.

This way, when someone obtained the “fated encounter” and refined the blood, they would automatically receive those broken memory scenes and subconsciously believe them to be the actual memories of the Golden Crow before death. This part cost very few Shock Points—only 50.

The treasure was ready, the story complete. The final step was setting up suspense. Ling Chen had no intention of letting this meticulously created Golden Crow secret realm be a one-time event. He wanted to plant a seed of mystery—something to leave others wanting more, pushing them to explore further. Setting up suspense was easy.

Ling Chen spent another 50 Shock Points to manifest a grand door on the far wall in the deepest part of the secret realm. The door’s surface was engraved with intricate, fiery-red Dao patterns, hinting at mysteries yet untold.

With this done, anyone who enters the secret realm will naturally think it’s the entrance to the second level. As for whether or not to actually create a second level of the secret realm…

That depends on Ling Chen’s mood.

Even if he doesn’t, he’d only lose 50 Shock Points—no big deal.

With the final step completed, Ling Chen let out a long sigh of relief. Everything was ready now—just waiting for that lucky person to show up.

“Xiao Yueying, Qi Refining Realm, Third Layer!”

“Haha, so this is the number one genius of our Xiao family? Only at the third layer of the Qi Refining Realm—how laughable!”

“Xiao Yueying’s cultivation has been stagnant for three years. Looks like she’s truly beyond saving. A once-proud genius has become a useless cripple.”

“Xiao Yueying, I’m here to break off the engagement.”

“As a true disciple of the Immortal Spirit Ancient Sect, I cannot marry a cripple.”

“If you agree to the annulment, I can offer some compensation to your Xiao family.”

Scene after scene flashed through her mind. Everyone in those visions seemed to have a twisted grin, causing Xiao Yueying to jolt awake from her nightmare.

Chixiao Divine Dynasty, outskirts of Heishi County, at the foot of the vast Cangmang Mountains. The moonlight was cold and bleak, casting a pale glow on Xiao Yueying’s tear-streaked, breathtaking face, making her look even more ethereal and otherworldly.

“Young miss, another nightmare?”

An elderly man with graying temples walked over slowly and asked with concern. Xiao Yueying nodded, wiped away her tears, and softly said, “Uncle Liang, you don’t need to keep watch for me. Go rest. We still have a long road ahead tomorrow morning.”

The old man known as ‘Uncle Liang’ looked at Xiao Yueying with pain in his eyes and sighed,

“Miss, the events of three years ago are long past. Why must you still cling to them so desperately?”

Xiao Yueying smiled, but there was a trace of bitterness in it.

How could she not want to forget what happened three years ago? But that humiliation had already been deeply engraved in her heart—how could she possibly forget?

Six years ago, she was unmatched in brilliance. As the eldest daughter of the Xiao family—one of the three great clans in Blackstone County—she was hailed as the number one prodigy in the region.

At just thirteen, she had already reached the second level of the Foundation Establishment Realm, a talent so rare that even within the entire Chixiao Divine Dynasty, few could rival her.

Countless people fawned over her back then, even worshipped her, believing she would become the third Nascent Soul cultivator in the dynasty and lead the Xiao family to glory.

But heaven is jealous of genius. A sudden calamity stripped her of all her cultivation. No matter how hard she tried, her cultivation remained stuck at the third level of the Qi Refining Realm, without the slightest progress.

At first, her clan members still showed concern, seeking out countless renowned physicians to help her. But when they realized her cultivation was truly beyond recovery, everything changed.

Xiao Yueying came to deeply understand the ugliness of human nature. It was as if those people were intent on reclaiming all the past flattery they had once shown her, lashing out with relentless ridicule and scorn. She could endure all of that.

What she couldn’t accept, however, was that Feng Hen—who was far away in the Immortal Spirit Sect—came personally to break off their engagement when he heard she had become a cripple.

She hadn’t cared much for the engagement to begin with and had planned to quietly discuss dissolving it with the Feng family. But she never expected Feng Hen would publicly tear up the engagement agreement in front of everyone. He made the matter known to all, turning it into a scandal!

He brought shame not only to her but to her father and the entire Xiao family. He made the whole Blackstone County laugh at their disgrace. That humiliation must be repaid. Therefore, she made a three-year vow with Feng Hen.

“Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river—never underestimate a youth in hard times!”

She wanted everyone to know—it wasn’t that Xiao Yueying wasn’t worthy of Feng Hen, but that Feng Hen wasn’t worthy of her!

Now, with only one month left until the three-year agreement, after three full years of intense cultivation, she had gained immensely and her fighting spirit burned bright. The Vast Mountain Range was her final stop.

Once this journey ended, she would head to the Sacred Capital of the Chixiao Divine Dynasty to challenge Feng Hen, who now resided in the Immortal Spirit Sect!

“Hopefully, I can gain something in the Vast Mountain Range.”

Murmuring softly, Xiao Yueying slowly closed her eyes again under the moonlight.
