Chapter 96: Chapter 94 Have Some Tea
"Uh, weren’t you going to pick flowers? I got worried that grandma might be waiting for too long, so I came to check in on her first," the man said softly.
"Oh, big brother, you’re so kind, but how is grandma’s health? Why did she go out? And why are you on grandma’s bed?" Red Cloak asked with some concern.
"She’s much better now. I got tired waiting for you and fell asleep," the man reassured her, patting Red Cloak’s back soothingly.
Mu Ying took a step back quietly, feeling a chill. There wasn’t a wolf dressed as a grandma like in the stories, but there was a strange, sleazy man.
Red Cloak was no real child, otherwise her mother wouldn’t have let her go to the forest alone. She was a young girl, nearly Mu Ying’s age. This man’s actions, patting her back, were a bit too intimate.
"Red Cloak, what’s this man’s name?" Mu Ying asked.
Red Cloak scratched her head, "I don’t know. He’s the ’big brother’ I told you about who suggested I pick the flowers. Just like you, I met him today."
"..."
Mu Ying almost kneeled. Is this world so naive and beautiful? Do people really accept strangers this quickly?
Though one could say Red Cloak was still young and not very aware of such matters, what did it mean for this man to be so close to her, occasionally touching her?
Thinking this, Mu Ying’s eyes flashed dangerously, and she pulled Red Cloak towards herself.
The man, unconcerned, continued to pour tea and said, "I forgot to tell Red Cloak, my name is Wolf, and I also live in the forest."
"Ah? My sisters and I live in the forest too!"
Red Cloak covered her mouth in surprise. Are young people now liking to live in such remote forests?
"What a coincidence. Here, everyone have a seat. It’s hot today, you must all be thirsty. Have some tea," Wolf said as he gallantly pulled out chairs for everyone.
Mu Ying whispered a few words to Senior Sister Margreta, who had the greatest strength, then quickly took the teacup. Almost instantly, as the teacup was about to reach her lips, she swerved and smashed it into Wolf’s mouth, breaking half of his tooth.
Wolf never expected the sweet, docile girl to change her face so suddenly. Seeing the teacup coming, he decisively tried to dodge, but Margreta, who had unknowingly moved behind him, pushed him, catching him off guard and wrecking his tooth.
The tea he had carefully prepared all choked him, and coughing helped no more. Frustrated and crying, he ran outside, "What are you doing! My tooth!"
"Snap!" The wooden door closed in front of him.
"Sorry, I was thinking about the tea you worked so hard to brew. How could I ’kindly’ forget to include you? I’m not very thirsty, better you drink it. I didn’t expect you to hurry and bring your mouth towards it. Is your tooth okay? Don’t cover it, let us see if it’s serious," Mu Ying said with a worried face, like a delicate flower.
"..."
Wolf felt his tooth ache even more. How could he have been so foolish as to mess with this femme fatale? He felt weak in his arms and legs. If he didn’t leave, he was going to be the one eaten!
Enduring the pain, he said, "I’m fine, no hard feelings, it’s just that my tooth looks bad. I’d better not stay with you all. I’ll take my leave," he added shyly looking at Red Cloak as if he didn’t want his sweetheart to see him in such a sorry state.
"Oh? With your ’delicate frame’, can you make it home safely? Why not lie down on Red Cloak’s grandma’s bed? After all, her grandma is sleeping under it!"
Red Cloak was nodding along until the last part, when she suddenly looked under the bed in surprise.
There was a jumble of things stuffed under the bed and it was hard to see clearly, but a shoe tip peeked out from the shadow at the foot of the bed—it was Grandma’s shoes!
"You!" Wolf cursed under his breath, not knowing how they had found out. The door wasn’t an escape option anymore, but there was a window next to the back door. Summoning his strength, he ran towards the window and managed to stick half his body out before passing out, hanging half in and half out in a ridiculous way.
"Whimper, Grandma!" Red Cloak belatedly flung herself to the bedside and pulled her grandmother out.
Rosie stepped forward to check, "She’s fine, she must have just been knocked out by a sleeping potion."
"Thud, thud, thud!"
The knocking suddenly sounded, causing Red Cloak to shudder, and with a trembling voice, she asked, "Who is it?"
"It’s Hunter Nick," a rough voice came through.
"It’s Uncle Nick!" Red Cloak dashed to open the door, "Whimper, Uncle Nick, the villains have hurt grandma, and we were almost caught as well, but thankfully Sister Mu Ying realized something was wrong..."
"It’s alright, it’s alright," Nick soothed in a gentle voice, which seemed a bit discordant due to his usually boisterous tone.
He looked at the group of young girls inside the house and lowered his guard.
Nick had followed the human trafficker Evil Wolf to the vicinity, who looked like a normal person and had deceived many young girls with his appearance. Some were violated, others sold, and rumors had lately spread about traffickers reaching Redberry Village. As one of the village’s top hunters in terms of Combat Power, it naturally fell on him to protect the village.
The witches, hearing about the Evil Wolf, all glanced at the shadow hanging by the window.
Mu Ying: This is called looking like a human? He’s just a greasy, disgusting man!
Lillian: Why didn’t I kick him just now?
Windsor: Human men are too scary, tricking girls to sell them, the Mu Ying version of the Star Flower story must be true!
Rosie: It looks like we need to add a magic potion that paralyzes men from the waist down to our graduation supplies.
Margreta: I should have kicked him with my foot.
Reni: Ugh!
Lucia: The wind blade rises quietly, Click—
"Ah!" The "Evil Wolf" on the windowsill screamed in pain and fainted again.
Nick walked over and picked up the Evil Wolf, "I’ll take him to the village for a trial."
"Then we’ll go with you to the village, we were headed there anyway, but we worried about being bullied without anyone to guide us, since we just arrived, so we came here first with Red Cloak," Mu Ying said. "Grandma needs someone to take care of her too, let’s take her with us to the village."
"Sounds good!"
Mu Ying and her group followed Nick into the village, drawing some attention with their many new faces, but the unconscious grandmother and the young man bleeding between his legs in Nick’s hands attracted more stares.
The men present involuntarily felt a chill down below.
"What happened?"
A young woman, looking somewhat like Red Cloak, rushed forward, "Mother, mother!"
"Mama, Grandma is fine, she just got knocked out by the bad guys, Sister Rosie said she’ll wake up after a bit more sleep," Red Cloak muttered with her head down.
"Martha, you take your aunt back to recuperate, we need to go see the Village Chief to set up a trial, that human trafficker Evil Wolf has been caught," Nick reassured.
