The execution animations for curved swords and straight swords are slightly different.
Compared to the straight sword’s thrust into the abdomen, the curved sword’s animation resembles beheading.
A joyful sword indeed for Louis XVI.
During the execution, the accumulated blood element exploded as well.
The enemy’s remaining half of health was instantly wiped out!
In just over a dozen seconds, he had killed the tough foe that had taken two to three minutes to whittle down with Invocation.
"Awesome!" Czcu exclaimed loudly.
This weapon is powerful!
Moreover, the use of the Hound’s Tooth had also made Czcu realize something.
In "Elden," although the direct damage of the various weapons isn’t much different and each has its own strengths,
the way they are utilized is not the same.
"It looks like I’ll need to frequently try out new weapons or Invocations, Magic, and stuff like that."
The game provided the player with so many options,
but stubbornly sticking to one weapon was clearly not the experience the game intended to give.
Czcu returned to the Blessing Spot and moved around slightly, observing the surrounding terrain.
After reaching the Blessing Spot known as the "City Wall Tower," players suddenly had more paths to choose from.
It was no longer a simple straight path like when first entering Stonewell.
Now, heading straight out from the Blessing Spot to the left and passing through a door, the view suddenly opened up.
At this moment, the player stood atop a tower.
Every building, big or small within the city, was in clear view.
Looking to the left, you could see an open-air corridor walkway.
The walkway was established between two tall towers for patrolling soldiers to traverse or for archers to take up positions and repel invaders.
However, there were no patrolling soldiers on this walkway now, only powder kegs that Czcu was wary of.
Above these kegs, several majestic eagles stood, their sharp eyes surveying everything.
Czcu had already experienced the power of these kegs in the small room next to the wooden walkway.
For now, he didn’t dare to proceed rashly.
Instead, he looked around nearby once more.
Soon, next to the War Hawk Corridor, he found a message left by a helpful fellow player.
"A sprint is needed up ahead, and it’s also time to jump."
Looking down at his feet,
the ground was two to three stories below.
Falling from this height would almost certainly be fatal.
But a bit further away, there was a smaller rooftop that was not as high as the tower.
"Ah?" Czcu paused momentarily.
"Does this mean... we’re supposed to jump to the rooftop on the other side?"
"Isn’t that going to be very inconvenient?"
"And it feels like it’s going to be very chaotic."
In many action RPGs, to give players a more thrilling role-playing experience,
many developers add quite a few fancy mechanics.
Not to mention the simplest basics like Rising Dragon and double jump.
Large leaps aided by various tools, or direct access to grappling hooks, flying skills, and so on.
With these, players can move in a more three-dimensional space and naturally scamper all over the rooftops.
So, the ability to jump on rooftops is not unique to "Elden" on Blue Star and isn’t rare.
"Elden," however, placed certain restrictions on the controlled character’s range of movement.
One could jump, but only a little bit.
That’s the reason why,
when Czcu saw for the first time that one could jump onto rooftops,
his first thought was of chaos and disorder.
Jumping down would mean not being able to get back up.
And where would that rooftop lead?
Unknown.
The disjointed structures of Stonewell, with buildings seemingly connected to each other,
made it very easy for players to get lost within the castle.
Czcu didn’t like this sense of chaos.
In contrast,
he preferred the straightforward Diorama structure of Blue Star.
Every road was clearly planned, east was east, and west was west.
"I’ll look around some more." Czcu went back to the "City Wall Tower" Blessing Spot.
He circled around inside the room.
Soon,
he found two more interactable objects.
One was behind him at the circular structure where he had just defeated the Lost Knight.
The circular stairs led up to a platform with a lift, but touching the lever only prompted a message that "This mechanism cannot be activated."
Then, to the right of the Blessing Spot, there was a small room similar to an elevator, presumably another lift, but pulling the lever also yielded the same message.
"This mechanism cannot be activated."
"Seriously, what’s the point of making all these mechanisms if players can’t use them..." Czcu said, scratching his head in confusion: "Could it be that they become unblocked after defeating a certain area, then use this mechanism to reach a new area?"
With both mechanisms immovable,
there were only two paths open to the players around this "City Wall Tower."
One was through the perilous corridor filled with explosive kegs, the War Hawk Corridor, to see what was at the end.
The other was to follow the advice of the helpful brother, take a sprinting leap to the opposite rooftop, and start a plan of random exploration.
After some thought, Czcu still preferred straightforward and orderly content.
He decided to choose the War Hawk Corridor to the left.
Before setting out, he drew his bow and arrow.
He used the Battle Skill "Full Draw."
And from a distance, he shot down a few War Hawks.
As he walked, he quickly hacked away any powder kegs just in case.
But the result was unexpected.
On the left side of the corridor, there was a protruding platform.
And there was another War Hawk hiding there!
It swooped down toward Czcu’s face with a powder keg clutched in its talons!
"Boom!!"
The explosion of the keg caught him off guard, and although it didn’t kill Czcu outright, his health instantly dropped to half.
