Chapter 503: Chapter 167: Pressure Maxed Out! Drenched in Sweat! How Am I Unable to Catch Even One of Your Exclusive Games?_5
"Ahhhh!!"
"Kirby is so freaking cute!!"
"This is the game real men should be playing!"
In the following live gameplay demonstration, the top player truly showed what it means to be obsessed with details!
Even in this 2D sidescrolling adventure game with its not-so-expansive scroll maps.
Each copied ability could evolve into seven or eight or even more than ten different attack methods.
And for each attack method, Kirby had additional cute animations, making the term ’cute’ synonymous with this pink demon.
Now that’s really growing up on cuteness.
And what’s even more outrageous, according to the trailer.
Star Kirby could copy up to 63 different abilities in the game!
Bomb Kirby, Flame Kirby, Magic Kirby, Rock Kirby, Boxing Kirby.
They’ve crammed almost every element one could think of into the game.
By the end, the only thought left in the audience’s mind was, I’m gonna open my mouth wide and inhale, inhale, inhale.
I’ll inhale knives, I’ll inhale bombs, I’ll inhale everything.
Stones, ice, flames, I welcome it all!
The live audience’s eyes were brimming with stars!
"Isn’t this just a kid’s game... This should be a sure win." Hattori Hiroshi muttered to himself, but when his gaze shifted to his subordinates, he was startled by the surprise and desire in their eyes.
Those looks clearly said ’this seems kind of fun’, ’I wanna play...’, ’I’ll buy Star Kirby after the meeting is over’.
How old are you guys, anyway?
Why are you interested in this kind of game with such artwork?
"If Slaughter Spire boasts higher gameplay than Gilralel, then surely Star Kirby can’t compare to Gilralel, right?" Hattori Hiroshi had barely finished his sentence.
When he saw a group of subordinates all turning their gazes towards him.
With eyes full of ’Boss, what are you talking about?’ looks.
Hattori Hiroshi was baffled: "I don’t get it, is this game really that appealing?"
"Boss... it’s not a matter of whether it’s appealing or not, it’s that feeling of ’no matter what, I want to get my hands on it’ after just one glance! There’s simply no resisting it!" A female employee said boldly.
"The top player in Star Kirby boldly abandoned the traditional monster-smashing setting of 2D sidescrolling levels, or rather, battling monsters isn’t the core of it. It’s the curiosity of ’can I absorb this?’, ’what will I become after absorbing that?’, ’how many ways can I use this ability?’ that attracts players more than traditional monster-smashing, combined with such an overall cute style of the battle stage and the extensive detail display of Kirby... I personally think this game might sell even better than Slaughter Spire."
After listening to this, Hattori Hiroshi was stunned.
No...
Am I the one who’s out of touch?
Are gamers these days no longer into blood and violence, risqué content, or adrenaline rushes, and instead starting to like these kiddish-looking games?
But the top player didn’t give Hattori Hiroshi any time to be shocked.
Or rather, the shocking elements for Hattori Hiroshi had quickly shifted to something else right after the Star Kirby trailer and live gameplay demonstration were over.
Because Hattori Hiroshi was stunned to discover.
The top player... actually prepared something new!
After the revolutionary launch of the Switch.
Slaughter Spire had already sparked a heated debate among the audience.
And the release of Star Kirby brought screams from men and women gamers alike.
The popularity in the livestream room soared, surpassing the 70 million mark across the network! This could almost equate to the heat brought by an eSports event.
For any game company, reaching this level of engagement with just a presentation would be the stuff of dreams.
At this point, it should have been time to wrap things up and prepare to count the cash.
But damn it...
The top player’s actions told Hattori Hiroshi, and everyone else,
This conference has just begun!
I still have games!
With the familiar Switch startup animation appearing again on the big screen, it splashed forward once more.
With a "click," came the sound of the Joy-Con controllers snapping together.
Followed by a splash of thick, colorful ink hitting the screen with a ’splat’, spreading outwards.
The words "Jet Warrior" appeared as the ink dissipated.
A punk rock, hip-hop vibe started playing in the background.
A bright and highly saturated image emerged on screen!
This was an exclusive shooting game debuted and available only on the Switch console!
A bunch of Squid girl-like characters, each carrying syringe-like ink shooters and variously shaped weapons, started a 4v4 multiplayer battle in a hip-hop backstreet-style setting!
Seeing this setup, Hattori Hiroshi, who had been hit twice in a row, quickly bounced back.
Good!
This is good!
A shooting game?
I think you guys at the top player company must have gone mad making games!
I admit your Slaughter Spire might be unique.
I also admit your Star Kirby might be attractive to the current generation.
But.
Handheld consoles are naturally not suited for shooting games, that’s an industry consensus!
It’s hard for players to move the crosshair swiftly because of the joystick, and if they can’t aim quickly, it’s undoubtedly a disaster for shooting experiences.
