Chapter 408: Chapter 145: The Eagle Strikes the Vast Sky, A Thousand Troops and Ten Thousand Horses Avoid the One in White Robes!_1
Without the need for a chat reminder, PDD wanted to try again.
Having just encountered it for the first time, he hadn’t had the chance to fully appreciate it before hitting the ground.
But that strange sensation was, nevertheless, memorable.
Quickly, PDD maneuvered Ezio to scale the tower atop the building with great agility.
In his previous rush to complete a racing task, he hadn’t paid much attention.
Not until he returned to the top of the high tower, dozens of meters above the ground, did Ezio also crouch at the very tip of the spire.
It was then that PDD noticed the system prompting him to interact with the tower.
"How do I interact with this... or is the interaction referring to the leap I just took?" he muttered, pressing the interact button.
In the next instant, his pupils dilated slightly.
"Screech!!"
A single cry of an eagle pierced the sky!
The very next moment, the camera abruptly pulled back and began a slow, sweeping rotation.
As the camera panned out and circled, the city of Florence, hailed as the art capital of the world, unfolded in all its medieval splendor for all the viewers in the livestream to see.
Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles complemented each other, almost perfectly reproduced in a nearly 1:1 scale on screen.
Tall, slender buildings stood in rows while, in the distance, the majestic Florence Cathedral could be seen, its facade pure white and solemn, with elaborate floral carvings adorning its domed roof.
The background music "Ezio’s Family" also began to play at just the right moment, starting with a gentle plucking of a mandolin, soon followed by a symphony taking over the melody, accompanied by a woman’s humming.

The symphony grew more profound and magnificent.
At that moment, PDD inexplicably felt a tightening of his scalp.
The chat in the live room scrolled rapidly.
"Holy cow! I’m getting excited, what’s happening! I’m feeling a surge of emotion!"
"These buildings are so well recreated! They almost perfectly match my imagination of medieval European architecture!"
"The moment the 360-degree camera angle came into play with the background music, I felt a strange tingling on my scalp! It’s like feeling all-powerful when overlooking everything from above!"
"I’m actually feeling the shock of time-space travel, as if, with the sweeping camera, I’m really standing in medieval Florence."
"First Player is insane, where did Baby Ke get these building materials? The level of detail in the reproduction, could it be that they actually went to Italy to collect them in person?"
"Collect crap, does Baby Ke have a time machine or something? Can it actually go back to the Middle Ages?"
"Why is the art department of First Player god-tier!"
...
Following the completion of the chase, before PDD could get a chance to reflect, he was drawn into a lengthy series of cutscenes.
Ezio returned to his mansion only to hear the shocking news that his father had been implicated in a political coup and imprisoned.
Ezio, eluding the guards on duty, learned from his father that evidence proving the Auditore family’s innocence was hidden in a secret room under the house. He merely had to deliver this evidence to his father’s friend, a judge in the city, to clear their names.
Ezio did as instructed and found in the secret room an assassin’s outfit and a damaged sleeve sword, the very same dashing attire that players had seen in the opening illustration.
However, what Ezio had not anticipated was the betrayal that awaited him.
The judge, already bought by a faction of the Templar Knights, betrayed Ezio’s father.
The very next day, before Ezio, who was mingling in the crowd intending to mount a rescue, the judge personally executed Ezio’s father and two brothers, right on the street,
and ordered a citywide manhunt against the entire Auditore family on charges of treason.
The once invincible patrician, Ezio, plummeted from heaven to hell in an instant. The deaths of his family members dealt him a severe blow, and even his own life hung by a thread.
Fortunately, a housemaid in the family came to Ezio’s rescue at that moment, helping him, his mother, and his sister escape the mansion and hide in a brothel run by her sister, Paola, thus saving their lives.
Paola hid the fact that she too was a member of the assassins from Ezio, but she diligently taught him how to move through the city undetected.
She also sent Ezio to find Leonardo da Vinci to repair the sleeve sword and taught him the skill of assassination.
PDD, following the on-screen prompts and after some practice, became very interested in the novel concept of ’assassination’.
"Ya’er, there’s no need to engage in direct combat. As long as you’re undetected, you can rush up and give them a stab to instantly take them out!"
"That’s quite thrilling!"
"And you can even use crowds as a cover. Look, when I blend into a crowd, the entire group’s color turns to a grayish hue, making it seem very inconspicuous."
"If an enemy soldier happens to pass by at this moment..." As he spoke, PDD reached out, pulled a passing soldier into his embrace, and swiftly brought down the blade.
Normally, such brazen street murder would surely cause panic amongst the citizens and alert nearby patrolling soldiers.
But in stealth mode, one could take the life of an assassination target without attracting any attention.
Besides blending into crowds, one could use a variety of city features like hiding in hay bales or sitting on benches to rest, and other methods to avoid drawing suspicion from soldiers.
Before long, PDD received an official mission.
