Chapter 294: Chapter 117: The Silky Smooth Air Combat System That Stunned Everyone! Let’s Shout Kemen!_3

Apart from that, Dai also learned from several NPCs that the reason for today’s extraordinary bustle and the decorative lights everywhere was because Sky Isle was celebrating its National Day.

Moving forward, while waiting for two islands to dock.

An air train slid along the sky track, and a group of NPCs including Dai had to wait there.

The freight cars of the train were also plastered with promotional posters about the National Day.

Beyond praise, the Prophet’s pre-recorded words in the phonograph were broadcast through the train’s loudspeakers, looping throughout the nation.

In the phonograph, he mentioned his daughter, Elizabeth.

As the great Prophet’s successor, she would continue to lead the people forward and create a brighter future in the days to come.

But soon, his tone shifted.

"But now... a sinister False Shepherd has come to our homeland, he wishes to steal away my lamb," he said.

"To protect the future leader of Sky City, please contact the guards immediately the moment you spot the False Shepherd! Let us join hands to eradicate this villainous remnant and restore clear skies to Columbia!"

"The False Shepherd has the letters ’AD’ marked on the back of his right hand, please recognize anyone with this mark!"

As the phonograph broadcast, Dai looked down at the back of his own right hand.

Indeed, there was a mark of the letters ’AD’.

Obviously, the False Shepherd the Prophet referred to was the player himself.

"Ah?" Suddenly, Dai was stunned.

The feeling was very subtle.

Having just arrived, barely started exploring a new place.

He hadn’t even done anything yet,

and he was already a wanted man throughout the city?

He had never seen any game start off like this... starting off as an enemy of the entire world?

"Really, all I did was steal a bit from each house," he muttered.

The audience was immediately amused by the comment.

"Why don’t you listen to what you’re saying," they bantered.

"’Just stealing a bit from each house,’" they repeated.

"Dai really gets the ’just’ part," they joked.

Fortunately, the people around him did not notice Dai.

The city’s residents seemed to only know that such an incident occurred, but the specific identity of the False Shepherd was unknown.

This allowed Dai to continue wandering through Sky City.

Through the linked floating islands, he could see a golden statue standing in the distance.

It was a winged girl statue resembling an angel.

At that moment, Booker also took out a photo from his pocket and compared it with the distant statue.

They were exactly the same.

"It seems our next task is to figure out how to reach that statue. Elizabeth should be locked inside," Dai said, glancing at the sky track above.

In the demo, players could interact with the sky track.

But no prompts for interaction had been provided yet.

"Let’s follow the main road for now." Suddenly finding himself a target of the city-wide manhunt, Dai had no time to continue admiring the scenery.

He swiftly passed between the residential buildings on either side.

Soon, he arrived at a bustling large square.

Many merchants had set up exhibition tents in the square.

The steampunk world setting deeply intrigued Dai.

Since he was already wanted, he had nothing better to do.

So, he joined the crowd for a while, curious to see what was being sold.

However, after making a round, Dai felt increasingly that something was off.

This city gave players a sense of dissonance that ran counter to its dreamy facade.

There were stalls selling high-tech ripened fruits and vegetables, which were still considered normal here.

But at the next stall, under the banner of ’Fink Merchant,’ various Superpower Potions were being sold.

Just a sip would empower one with great Strength.

Next to the stall, two workers were hired to do a live demonstration.

One of them lifted his hand, and a captivating green light enveloped the other, seemingly bewitching and leaving the man standing there in a stupor.

If this were real, it would mean the dawn of an era where everyone had superpowers.

Yet the people around seemed unsurprised as if it were nothing new.

Even more outrageous, there was a stall brazenly selling tobacco that children could smoke. To boost sales, this stall even shot a video.

In the video, a boy around ten years old, expertly puffing on a cigarette while wearing a duckbill cap, looked utterly relaxed and at ease.

In reality, not to mention the government, even local residents would likely rise in anger and smash such a store to pieces.

But here, the citizens were showing great interest, crowding around and inquiring about the different flavors of the cigarettes.

Beyond that, the largest exhibition on the east side was demonstrating their Human Body Transformation Steampower Armor.

Inside that iron body, encased like a space suit, a transparent glass dome revealed a person’s head, expressionless and obedient to the merchant’s remote commands.

His heart appeared to have been extracted and placed in the center of the armor, in transparent nutrient fluid and protected by sturdy glass. The heart looked grotesquely swollen, with blood pumping through old, even rusty, copper tubes.

The merchant was spouting his pitch with enthusiasm.

"If a loved one falls ill and you wish for their eternal companionship, consider Fink’s steam-powered automaton transformation plan. Turn them into a half-living being devoid of emotion, capable of obeying your commands—surely better than death before your eyes, right?"

The notion was already bizarre enough.

But the discussion of the citizens nearby made Dai’s skin crawl even more.
