Chapter 241: Chapter 102: The first trailer for the new game is here! Major manufacturers study overnight but find something is wrong!_1
The employees of Player Number One recently discovered that something was off with their boss.
The previous boss had eyes that radiated with confidence, spoke with a resonant vigor, and every move he made carried the air of a person of power.
But now, it was as if the boss had been nerfed overnight by the planners of Blue Star OL for the sake of game balance.
Stardew Valley blew up with a phenomenal reputation, and although it didn’t make a lot of money, it was considered a tremendous success.
Yet the boss seemed like a changed person.
He no longer locked himself in his office all day to furiously write the plans for new games.
Instead, he would wander around the office area for no apparent reason.
You’d think he was inspecting the employees’ work.
But it didn’t seem like it.
Because often, as he walked, he would suddenly stop and just stand there.
Staring at an employee’s computer screen from afar, sometimes for as long as half an hour.
This immense invisible pressure made the targeted employees think they had done something wrong and could only keep busy to the point of absurdity.
This keyboard is dirty, let me clean it.
This desk, well, it’s one hell of a desk.
This line of code seems off, I’ll Ctrl+C, delete it, then Ctrl+V.
The employees were nearly driven to madness.
And then they heard their boss say, offhandedly,
"Let’s move this desk over there."
Leaving the employees disheveled by the metaphorical wind, he moved on to survey another area.
In less than a week, nearly 80% of the employees’ workstations had been moved.
If it were just about moving workstations, that would be pretty normal. Many companies do it to form new groups or departments, so that the areas can be reorganized to promote communication and efficiency among the employees.
But their reasoning had always been clear and orderly, at most spaced apart by some distance.
Player Number One was different, though.
The workstations were arranged with angles and curves.
"The more I look at it, the more I feel Mr. Ke is setting up a Formation here," several employees gathered after work one day to discuss the recent subtle changes to the workstations.
"I’ve had the same feeling, but I didn’t want to say anything."
"It just confirms that genius is always eccentric, and common people can’t understand their thoughts."
"But what kind of Formation is Mr. Ke laying out?" An employee looked around, but because his perspective was similar to that of the workstations, he could only see the crooked formation without grasping its intricacies.
"I know this one, I have a bit of knowledge about spatial abstract art, and from the look of this configuration, Mr. Ke is probably not setting up a Formation, but a character," analyzed an employee wearing thick glasses.
"A character? Which character?"
The bespectacled employee lightly pushed his glasses up and said coolly, arms crossed,
"’Yuan’."
"The ’yuan’ as in the vast expanse of fields."
"Damn, ’yuan’?"
"Yes, ’yuan’."
"Why ’yuan’?"
He continued, "You see, the row of workstations that’s directly across from Mr. Ke’s office is straight, then the workstations to the left are vertical and splayed outwards, doesn’t it resemble the side stroke of the character ’yuan’?"
"And the workstations in the middle are arranged quite intricately, hard to recognize, but it fits with the strokes in the middle of the character ’yuan’."
"And aren’t the last few workstations at the end also quite similar to the dots beneath the character ’yuan’?"
Upon hearing this, the group inhaled sharply.
"Hss... now that you mention it, it does kind of look like it."
"But what does it mean? ’Yuan’... Could it be hinting at the name of the next new game? That the game will contain the word ’yuan’?"
"Yeah, seems like there’s some rationale to it, since Mr. Ke always does things his own way, it’s not surprising he’s up to these tricks."
"Alright, let’s go. No matter what it is, let’s just do the work once Mr. Ke comes out with the plans," said another, shrugging off the mystery.
The group of employees walked away, discussing amongst themselves.
At this moment, the door to the executive office cracked open just a bit.
A moment ago, Ke Jin was about to push the door open when he heard them analyzing his motives.
Finding it quite amusing, he stealthily listened for a while.
But when they blurted out ’yuan’, Ke Jin could hardly contain himself.
For goodness’ sake! What I arranged was clearly the character for ’win’!
So much for your understanding of spatial abstract art. It seems you’re only good at understanding the abstract part.
The reason for changing the workstations had been the result of Ke Jin’s careful deliberation.
After many failures, it was as if Ke Jin had an epiphany overnight.
Feng Shui!
There was a serious issue with the company’s Feng Shui!
I mean, can you believe it? I had both summons out, full health, all Skills ready. It should have been an easy kill.
And yet, I got outplayed with just a sliver of health left.
Before this, Ke Jin had always been a steadfast believer in science.
But after this incident, his belief started to waver slightly.
If some problems can’t be solved scientifically, then why not turn to metaphysics?
Just set up the workstations in the shape of the character for ’win’ and disrupt the original Formation.
Drive away any evil spirits or demons, no matter where they come from!
Ke Jin didn’t know if it would work.
But he thought he might as well show some fighting spirit first.
When he arrived at work the next day,
Ke Jin found that things seemed to be moving in a positive direction.
As soon as he entered the company, he saw the receptionist blushing, surrounded by a group of employees.
They were all speaking, not in a tone of reproach, but rather explaining something to her.
The receptionist looked somewhat upset and lost, standing still with reddening eyes.
Ke Jin approached to see what was going on and then understood.
It turned out that the receptionist, Wu Shi, had passed by an Aquarium store on her way home the evening before.
