Chapter 972: 700 for free

"Young Master Jiang, I’m doing pretty well over here, and Miss He has been taking great care of me."

Bai Haoran was indeed a highly adaptive person, and with the foundation Jiang Chen had built for him, he thrived in Haojiang as if he were a fish in water.

After reaching an unspoken agreement to let He Yihui manage Xinghao’s casino, He Yihui placed Bai Haoran there as well.

The new casino was set to open soon.

As the future manager, Bai Haoran indeed needed to learn from experience beforehand.

"Miss He is a nice person; you can talk to her about anything you’re having trouble with."

"I understand."

After arriving in Haojiang, Bai Haoran had heard bits and pieces about the story between Young Master Jiang and the youngest daughter of the gambling king.

"Knock knock knock..."

The sound of knocking could be heard.

"Talk to you later."

Jiang Chen hung up the phone.

Luo Peng walked in, tossing a document onto the desk, "Sign here."

Young Master Luo, though often appearing carefree, was in fact astute and meticulous.

"Why don’t you just sign it yourself?"

Jiang Chen said nonchalantly.

Luo Peng joked, "You really think of yourself as a nobody?"

Jiang Chen picked up the document, not even looking at it, and began to sign his name.

"Where have you hidden Ai Qian?"

Luo Peng asked curiously.

As if he didn’t hear, Jiang Chen finished signing, closed the document, and handed it back.

Luo Peng accepted it: "This business of hiding one’s mistress can be exciting once or twice, but you’re not addicted, are you?"

He knew that the other side had definitely found Ai Qian by now, but every time the topic came up, it was always avoided, just like today.

"Anything else you need me to sign?"

Luo Peng gave a speechless look, "Everyone else moves their hidden affairs around, but you, you keep everything in East Sea. Be careful not to start a fire."

Obviously.

He must have counted Jin Zhuxuan in as well.

"Even if it catches fire, it won’t burn you."

"What kind of thing is that to say, we’re brothers!"

"Are you that idle?"

"Fine, when things go south, don’t come to me asking for help."

Luo Peng left with the document.

Not long after Luo Peng had left, the phone rang.

It was from the hospital.

"General Jiang, good news."

Ai Qian’s attending physician sounded excited, "We’ve found a suitable transplant donor."

Jiang Chen’s gaze became sharp, "Really?"

"Absolutely! General Jiang, do you have time to come over?"

"I’ll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Chen left the office.

"General Jiang."

The striking receptionist greeted him respectfully, though it was unclear if she had managed to secure a romantic relationship with the young man who was hopelessly waiting for her.

Jiang Chen nodded and continued leaving the company without stopping. He went downstairs, drove to the hospital.

In the attending physician’s office.

"General Jiang, take a look."

The physician handed the matching results to Jiang Chen, "As long as the compatibility rate is over 70%, we consider it suitable for transplantation."

Jiang Chen, of course, couldn’t understand the series of indices, but at least he could understand the result at the bottom.

85% match.

Far exceeding the "passing line."

"Male or female?"

Jiang Chen looked up holding the report.

"Female, quite young."

"How did you find her?"

"She came on her own."

"Came on her own?"

The physician nodded, "She probably saw the fundraising advertisement we posted."

Jiang Chen looked back at the report, "What’s her name?"

"Meng Xi, should we contact her? If we’re to proceed with the transplant, sooner is better than later, and she said to notify her immediately once the results are out."

"Did she leave any contact information?"

"She left a phone number."

With that, the physician handed over a registration form that had been prepared earlier.

"Here’s her number."

Jiang Chen took it and glanced at it; it wasn’t the number he had imagined.

"General Jiang, should I contact her? She must be waiting for the results."

Jiang Chen nodded, placing the test results on the table, "Tell her the match wasn’t successful."

The physician hesitated, then fell silent.

Jiang Chen had already turned and walked out of the office.

The physician couldn’t help but look at the report on the desk, his face clouded with confusion.

"Knock knock knock..."

Hearing the knock, Wei Chuyin, who was pouring water, turned around.

Jiang Chen walked in.

Her face showed surprise, followed by a glance at Ai Qian on the bed.

"Didn’t I tell you there was no need for you to come?"

"Just passing by."

Ai Qian then looked towards Wei Chuyin.

Wei Chuyin, seemingly forgetting the previous instructions, picked up the thermos, "I’ll go fetch some water."

She left the room.

"How are you feeling?"

Jiang Chen casually pulled up a chair and sat down.

"I was doing quite well."

Jiang Chen of course understood the underlying meaning of her words, "I’ll just sit for a moment and then leave."

Ai Qian didn’t respond, instead turning to look out the window.

Jiang Chen didn’t mind her attitude, pretending not to see the sickly pallor on her face or the obtrusive woolen hat.

"Has anyone been to see you lately?"

He asked.

Ai Qian turned back to him.

Their eyes met as Jiang Chen said, "I mean, someone you don’t know."

"No unfamiliar people."

Ai Qian said softly, "But someone I know has been here."

Jiang Chen remained silent.

"Somebody that you’ve probably met too."

Ai Qian continued, "Miss Shi, the guest invited to the school’s last New Year’s party before graduation."

Jiang Chen’s expression stayed even.

So, it was her.

"Do you know her?"

Ai Qian asked.

Being smart enough to get into Dong University, without claiming to be a genius, she certainly didn’t lack intelligence.

"Mhm."

Jiang Chen didn’t deny it.

Ai Qian smiled faintly, "I just find it odd that such an impressive person would have the leisure to chat with me."
