Chapter 850: 625 Cross Fire
"One, two, three... there are quite a few people."
In the cramped ventilation duct, Gao Liang tried to curl up as much as possible.
Although he was tall, he was thin, which was fortunate; otherwise, he might not have been able to squeeze in.
Besides him, Yanbian Killer and a few others were also lying in the ventilation duct, carefully peering through the vent to scope out the situation in the corridor.
This was clearly the so-called method of entering from above.
While not so grand, it was still a success.
The four Yanbian Killers had silently infiltrated the seventeenth floor.
Gao Liang lay in front of a vent, extending a small mirror he had prepared.
Through the reflection in the mirror, it was evident that the entire seventeenth floor had tight security. On this corridor alone, there were three bodyguards, with one stationed every ten meters.
"Boss, what should we do?"
Gao Liang slowly withdrew the mirror, lowering his voice.
"The layout of the seventeenth and twenty-third floors should be roughly the same, U-shaped, with about thirty rooms," Yanbian Killer suppressed his breathing; it was an effort to sneak in, and getting caught would ruin everything.
"Yeah Boss, thirty rooms. How are we supposed to know which one that guy is staying in?"
Hei Chan, lying on his side, rasped out a critical question.
They had made it inside, but with so many rooms, how could they confirm the location of their target?
As the team’s brains and core, Yanbian Killer, at that moment, couldn’t think of a really good solution.
"Keep moving."
Because they were extremely cautious and slow, the four assassins hid in the ventilation duct without making any noise as they moved.
Vera’s bodyguards had sharp eyes, constantly looking around, diligently on guard without letting down their watch. Little did they know that a few "cockroaches" had silently slipped inside and were crawling over their heads.
The four Yanbian Killers crawled from one side of the U-shaped corridor to the other, passing the elevator area.
There were four elevators, each guarded by a bodyguard.
Gao Liang at the front couldn’t help but look back at Yanbian Killer.
Thankfully, the boss had stopped him before, keeping him from charging in recklessly.
"Keep moving!" Yanbian Killer’s eyes were fierce as he silently mouthed the words.
Sweating profusely, Gao Liang could only continue to crawl with difficulty.
After passing the second side, they came to the last side of the corridor. Walking would have taken just a few minutes, but the entire process took the four Yanbian Killers almost an hour.
The physical exhaustion and mental tension left each of them dripping with sweat.
"Boss, let’s just go down and fight it out!"
The Camel could no longer endure it.
In previous missions, they had been clean and quick; they had never endured such hardship.
"Keep it down!"
Yanbian Killer’s eyes warned, also exhausted, gasping for air, and gestured to rest for a bit.
"Boss, conservatively estimating, there must be at least about ten bodyguards," Hei Chan said. "We can take a crack at it."
He probably wasn’t supporting Camel’s suggestion but likely couldn’t stand the torment any longer.
Yanbian Killer paid him no mind, crouching by the vent, signaling to Gao Liang to hand him the mirror.
"Boss, catch."
Gao Liang took out the mirror, placed it on the duct, then gave it a shove.
The mirror slid over and was stopped by Yanbian Killer’s arm, who picked it up and, imitating Gao Liang, slowly extended the mirror out through the vent.
After a dozen seconds, he pulled the mirror back.
"I know which room that guy is in."
Their eyes simultaneously brightened.
"Boss, which one?"
"Ahead, the room with two bodyguards at the door, he must be inside," Yanbian Killer hissed.
The other rooms were unguarded, but that one had door watchers – the target must be in there!
Gao Liang and the others were invigorated, the soreness in their bodies seemingly eased significantly.
Having a precise direction provided motivation.
Flailing around aimlessly like headless flies would exhaust anyone.
"Boss, shall we go down?"
Hei Chan had already drawn his weapon, the bright dagger gleaming in the narrow ventilation duct.
He was already impatient.
Although there were many bodyguards, it would take time for the others on the separate corridor to arrive here.
Seizing this time difference, they could completely take out the two guards at the door, burst in, and finish off the guy.
"Move to the vent up front; it’s closer."
Yanbian Killer maintained patience.
The corridor’s ventilation duct couldn’t directly connect to the rooms inside; to get in, they would have to force their way through.
It took them more than ten additional minutes to slowly shuffle to another vent.
Approximately five steps ahead was the room guarded by two bodyguards.
Including Yanbian Killer, all four Yanbian Killers took out their weapons.
"Rest for three minutes, Hei Chan, you take the lead."
Yanbian Killer assigned Hei Chan to charge first. Not only was Hei Chan unafraid, but he was also unusually excited, nodding his head and then tenderly stroking his sharp dagger.
It finally felt like a moment for professional assassins.
The four of them adjusted their breathing, seizing these precious three minutes of rest.
Three minutes were up.
Hei Chan looked at Yanbian Killer.
Yanbian Killer silently nodded.
Hei Chan bit the dagger in his mouth and carefully lifted the vent cover, then rapidly jumped down.
The two bodyguards in front immediately turned their heads.
Even with their training, seeing someone "fall from the sky" still bewildered the two guards instinctively.
Hei Chan didn’t give them much time to react.
His nickname suggested his agility; after all, being a professional killer did require some skill.
