Chapter 820: Miss 609

"Have you arrived in Haojiang yet?"

While strolling around the Haojiang Peninsula and on his way back to the hotel, Jiang Chen received a call from Lan Peizhi.

"Yes, I arrived today."

"Which hotel are you staying at?"

"The Mandarin Oriental."

"I’ll send someone over tonight to pick you up."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chen was about to say something, but the caller had alreadyended the call abruptly.

He put down his phone and gave a helpless smile, but he was gradually getting used to the other party’s decisive nature.

Since Lan Peizhi had mentioned meeting him that evening, he didn’t wander around anymore and stayed in his room after returning to the hotel.

Aside from gambling, Haojiang’s other prominent feature was undoubtedly its nightlife.

Despite Haojiang’s small size, one could find beauties from any country in the world here as long as they had money.

Luo Peng had particularly emphasized this point.

Otherwise, just on the basis of gambling, Haojiang would not be enough to be known as a paradise for men.

After dominating the casino, what could be more luxurious than spending a splendid night with a charming and sexy beauty?

However, Jiang Chen had always scored full marks in his ethics courses at university and had never indulged in luxury or corruption, even though a simple order to the hotel could arrange a few hours of imperial living for him, he chose not to.

Those who accomplish great things, at the very least, must restrain the desires inherent in human nature.

Haojiang Tower blocked the slanting sunset.

While re-watching a movie about a gambling king, Jiang Chen glanced outside the window, shrugged his shoulders, leaned on the sofa, and thought about whether or not to give Lan Peizhi a call when suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong..."

Jiang Chen got up and walked over to open the door.

It wasn’t the hotel staff.

When the door opened, Jiang Chen saw four burly men standing at the door, who, despite being dressed in suits, could not hide the fierce aura about them.

Jiang Chen was not unfamiliar with such groups, and his gaze calmly swept over the cold and unfamiliar faces, "Is there something you need?"

"Mr. Jiang?"

One of them inquired, apparently unintentionally, but his gaze was sharp.

Jiang Chen nodded, "I am Jiang Chen."

It’s not that he was unguarded, but since he had never been to Haojiang before, there shouldn’t be any need to worry about enemies.

Moreover, if there were any ill intentions, they probably wouldn’t have knocked so politely.

"The boss sent us to pick you up."

After confirming Jiang Chen’s identity, the men in suits politely and respectfully stepped aside, making a welcoming gesture.

Seeing this, Jiang Chen immediately understood that they must have been sent by Lan Peizhi.

Truly, the influence of the notorious Blood Guanyin was pervasive.

The word ’power’ truly cannot be measured by a mere string of figures of wealth.

Jiang Chen silently reflected on this internally, his face revealing nothing as he calmly stepped out of the room, putting on quite a display.

The burly men in suits followed behind him.

At a glance, it seemed quite like the grand entrance of the big shot in the movie he had just watched.

"Mr. Jiang."

Once downstairs, Jiang Chen couldn’t help but be stunned as he truly experienced the unique character of Haojiang.

A fleet of eight or nine black business cars lined up next to the neatly standing dozens of hard men in suits, just like the ones behind him. Seeing him appear, they gave a collective nod.

In their youth, every man probably dreamt of such a scene.

Even Jiang Chen couldn’t help but feel a slight surge of excitement, forcibly maintaining his composure as he nodded and then sat in the core position in a Bentley Mulsanne.

Someone opened the car door for him.

The motorcade started.

Watching the sidelong gazes of the pedestrians outside the window, Jiang Chen twiddled his fingers.

Extravagant.

Far too extravagant.

It wasn’t as if they had just met; they were already familiar. Simply sending someone to lead the way would have sufficed, so why make such a grand gesture?

The Peninsula gathered the old city views of Haojiang, while the reclaimed Cotai was undeniably the center of Haojiang.

The Hollywood-style Xinghao.

The fleet stopped.

Jiang Chen entered the lobby and was again met with a grand welcoming line.

"Mr. Jiang, welcome to Haojiang."

A handsome man in his thirties stepped out from the lineup, his face brimming with a welcoming smile as he extended his hand to Jiang.

Jiang returned a polite smile, having absolutely no idea who the man was, nor how to address him, so he simply shook his hand.

The handsome man in a grey suit had a handshake that was just right, warm but not excessive. After letting go, he stepped aside and said, "Miss Lan and Mr. Yu have been waiting for you, Mr. Jiang, please follow me."

Stepping onto the high-end, imposing spiral staircase, Jiang Chen arrived on the second floor and, led by the man, entered a banquet hall.

Two beauties wrapped in cheongsam pushed open the door,

"Mr. Jiang, please."

The spacious banquet hall, with a luxurious round table that could accommodate twenty people, had only two occupants.

Lan Peizhi was indeed present.

Besides her, there was also a mature man in his forties with a square face and a faint scar at his eyebrow, not particularly fierce, but adding a wild air to his appearance.

Jiang Chen also didn’t recognize him, but he had a good guess about the man’s surname.

It must be that "Mr. Yu."

As Jiang Chen walked in, both of their attention was quickly drawn to him, the man of likely no ordinary status stopped his conversation with Lan Peizhi and stood up, smiling warmly and naturally.

"Didn’t expect Mr. Jiang to be so young, I am Yu Guangrong, it’s a pleasure to meet you."
