Chapter 671: 538 spokesperson
"Mr. Jiang, welcome."
In Goryeo, a land where the entertainment industry was highly developed, the presence of nightclubs and bars was naturally a given.
Among Seoul’s most famous clubs, OTG was surely a name that would come up.
When Jiang Chen entered the establishment, his first impression was that it was brimming with handsome men and beautiful women, almost as if all the good-looking people of Goryeo had gathered here.
Jiang Chen was never someone lacking in confidence, but upon seeing the bevy of handsome men and strapping guys who looked as though they’d been chiseled from stone, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of inferiority.
By contrast, Gao Zhengbi, who had come along with him, seemed rather unaffected. Having lived in Goryeo for over a decade, he presumably had been here before and was used to the scene, showing no particular reaction even to the female bartender who caught Jiang Chen’s eye for a few extra moments.
An Zairong, who had extended the cordial invitation, noticed Jiang Chen’s gaze and glanced at the indeed pleasing female bartender, "Mr. Jiang, how about I call her over to keep you company?"
Quite observant.
Jiang Chen quickly shook his head, "No need."
An Zairong did not press further and led Jiang Chen and Gao Zhengbi to a VIP booth.
"Mr. Jiang, good to see you!"
No wonder he hadn’t insisted on the company of that bartender; it turned out An Zairong had made arrangements already. The booth was packed with gorgeous women, ranging from voluptuously curvaceous to slender as swallows, all different in allure but dressed in sophisticated attire - definitely the type that could make an ordinary man feel ashamed upon encountering them on the street.
Yet, as Jiang Chen and company arrived, the scantily clad and seductive ladies all stood at once, bowed in greeting, and showed a docile obedience that gave a sense of utter conquest.
Jiang Chen, no longer a greenhorn when it came to the ways of the world, faced the collection of Goryeo beauties who were out of the ordinary, smiling with an unchanged expression and waving his hand, "Please, sit."
How natural.
Everyone took their seats again.
Three men and almost ten women, ample for a scenario of being flanked left and right.
In places like nightclubs, beautiful women were hardly scarce, but most of the ladies here bore clear marks of cosmetic surgeries. What was rare, however, was that the two women sitting on either side of Jiang Chen were all natural beauties. One of them had a mole on her nose, closely resembling the Goryeo actress Han Ga In.
"Mr. Jiang, I’m really sorry for having been busy all day and only now finding the time. I hope Mr. Jiang can understand," apologized An Zairong, raising his glass.
Perfect Mandarin.
Unlike Gao Zhengbi, he was a true-blooded Goryeo local.
Jiang Chen had been somewhat surprised upon receiving the call. At such a critical juncture, it seemed odd that the man had the energy to entertain him.
But regardless of his thoughts, Jiang Chen kept a neutral face and raised his glass with a smile, "Mr. An is too polite."
"Since Mr. Jiang is a friend of Miss Lan, you are an honored guest of mine. If there’s anything you need in Seoul, just let me know," An Zairong said, tipping his glass toward Gao Zhengbi before downing its contents.
"Ladies, please ensure that Mr. Jiang and Mr. Gao are well taken care of tonight."
"Mr. Jiang, this drink is to you."
"Mr. Gao, this one’s for you as well."
At that moment,
The scene was abuzz with music and dance, the fragrance was dense, and the fair skin and exposed long legs shone brilliantly, adding a lively charm to the atmosphere.
The ladies were sultry and seductive, their glances enticing, their intentions obvious, yet both Jiang Chen and Gao Zhengbi behaved like perfect gentlemen, composed despite the chaos, engaging only in simple conversation and drink.
"It’s so hot," sighed.
The woman who resembled the actress Han Ga In, sitting to Jiang Chen’s left, removed her cardigan to reveal a strappy dress beneath. As she casually adjusted her arms, the enticing cleavage became ever more profound, a stark and stirring contrast to her delicate features.
Jiang Chen ignored her entirely, not even stealing a glance.
An Zairong, who had seen everything, slightly narrowed his eyes and said unabashedly, "Mr. Jiang, are you not satisfied with these ladies? If so, I can replace them immediately."
To ordinary people these women might be unattainable, but to him, they seemed no more than negligible accessories.
"Or perhaps there’s someone Mr. Jiang fancies? As long as they’re in Seoul, I can bring them here," he boasted.
Jiang Chen didn’t doubt the man’s ability for a moment.
"Thanks for the offer, Mr. An, but there’s no need for the trouble, enjoying a drink is good enough," Jiang Chen declined.
"Alright then," An Zairong replied with a nod, not insisting any further and changing the subject. "Is this Mr. Jiang’s first time in Goryeo?"
Jiang Chen nodded.
"No wonder. I’ve never seen Mr. Jiang before, though Mr. Gao seems somewhat familiar."
"Mr. An and I crossed paths once when you visited Incheon," Gao Zhengbi smoothly chimed in.
"I see."
The three men chatted casually, and with the company of beautiful women, the atmosphere remained harmonious, seemingly untouched by the tense situation outside.
Before coming here, Jiang Chen had called Shi Qianxi again, gaining a basic understanding of this man fond of wearing red ties. He guessed right; the man was indeed one of the leaders of the Zhushihuishe, in charge of most of Lan Peizhi’s shady business in Goryeo, not limited to smuggling.
In other words,
This man was Lan Peizhi’s "spokesperson" in Goryeo.
Shi Qianxi shared quite a lot - An Zairong was originally a small-time underworld boss in Seoul, who had only risen to power slowly thanks to Lan Peizhi’s support, eventually becoming a significant figure in Goryeo’s underworld no one could ignore.
