Chapter 465: 413 Land Grant University
When Hong Xiaoyu found Jiang Chen, he was surprised that his cousin was actually playing basketball with a group of people.
"Bro."
He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Jiang Chen turned his head, then, after saying goodbye to these students from the Geological University of Hancheng with a smile, he walked over.
"Your shoelaces are untied."
Hong Xiaoyu looked down and realized that in his hurry, his laces had indeed come loose, so he quickly crouched down to retie them.
As a senior year student himself, Jiang Chen didn’t stick out on the campus of Hancheng’s Geological University; those youths on the basketball court probably took him for an alumnus too.
"Bro, why are you here?"
Hong Xiaoyu stood up after tying his shoelaces.
"Just came to see how you’re doing. Am I not welcome?"
Jiang Chen teased.
"Bro, stop joking around, what’s up really?"
"Came with a friend to Hancheng for some matters, thought I’d drop by to see you on the way."
Jiang Chen looked him up and down, "You’ve lost weight, huh."
Hong Xiaoyu awkwardly scratched his head: "Not really."
Still such a kid.
Jiang Chen smiled, "Show me around?"
"Sure!"
Hong Xiaoyu led his cousin around the campus, the pair of brothers wandering aimlessly, chatting as they walked.
"Bro, has Fang Qing been to East Sea to see you?"
"How did you know?"
"She mentioned it when I was chatting with her."
"You two still keep in touch quite a bit."
"Of course."
Hong Xiaoyu spontaneously blurted out, "After all, I’ve been calling her ’sister-in-law’ for such a long time."
Jiang Chen remained silent, smiling.
Hong Xiaoyu quickly realized.
Times have changed; the things from our childhood no longer seem appropriate for joking about.
"Bro, has Fang Qing met your girlfriend?"
"Yeah."
"How do the two of them... get along?"
Hong Xiaoyu tentatively asked.
"Didn’t you talk with your Fang Qing? Why ask me?"
"How can I dare to ask that to Fang Qing?"
"Why, do you actually think they would come to blows? You think too highly of your brother."
Jiang Chen joked.
"Bro, you don’t have to be modest. In my eyes, you’re the most capable person under the heavens!"
Hong Xiaoyu earnestly said.
He had to admit, hearing such words from his cousin’s mouth did give him, as the elder, quite a sense of achievement.
"Your school has quite a few beauties, huh."
Jiang Chen looked around.
With summer approaching, the girls had begun to wear cooler clothes; everywhere he looked, there were smooth, fair, long legs.
"They’re okay," Hong Xiaoyu modestly responded.
"How about we invite that female friend of yours out for a meal later? My treat," Jiang Chen proposed at the right moment.
"Which female friend?"
Hong Xiaoyu either didn’t understand or pretended to be confused.
"The one you mentioned over New Year’s."
Jiang Chen got straight to the point.
"Bro, I think we’d better not..."
"Why not? You said you’re just ordinary friends, so a meal should be fine, right?"
Jiang Chen was dead serious.
"It’s not a big deal, but I’m worried she might overthink things."
The kid hadn’t changed at all; just like when he was little, his gaze would become evasive and he’d be unable to look people in the eye when he lied.
That little brat who used to run after him with a bare bottom crying, now seemed to have gotten troubled over matters of the heart,
Jiang Chen sighed inwardly, with a smirk that was not quite a smirk.
"Are you worried about her, or are you worried about yourself? We’re like the pond’s water under the light of one moon moving toward another; do you think I haven’t read ’The Monster at the End of This Book’?"
If Miss Shi were here, she would certainly call him shameless.
But crucially, Hong Xiaoyu didn’t know that and his expression immediately stiffened.
The two had now reached the side of the gymnasium. Perhaps because he was tired from the basketball game, Jiang Chen decided to sit down on the steps in front of the sports hall.
"Let’s rest a bit."
Hong Xiaoyu could only sit down as well.
"Spill it. What’s really going on? Maybe I could give you some advice with my experience in relationships,"
He urged his brother to talk.
"Bro, there’s really nothing."
Hong Xiaoyu still insisted stubbornly.
Having been through that age himself, Jiang Chen understood his reticence and didn’t press him further.
Watching the passing young couples, university students, he semi-jokingly said, "If you’re not dating anyone right now, maybe I can introduce you to someone? Tell me what type of girl you like, and I’ll keep an eye out for you."
It sounded somewhat like a boast.
But given his current achievements, if he really did want to find a girlfriend for his cousin, probably few of the girls from East University would refuse.
Moreover,
Hong Xiaoyu was not lacking in terms of appearance either; he might not be extremely handsome, but he was certainly above average.
The key issue was, this kid still had no clue about his cousin’s capabilities and subconsciously took it as a polite but teasing remark.
"Bro, you’re not going to open a matchmaking agency after you graduate, are you?"
"You only get one chance, don’t blame me for not reminding you if you miss it."
Hong Xiaoyu just laughed.
"Fine, as if I never said anything."
Jiang Chen couldn’t help but smile at the corner of his mouth.
If his cousin actually let him help find a girlfriend, he might actually be somewhat disappointed.
Suddenly, Hong Xiaoyu fished his phone out of his pocket.
"What are you doing?"
Jiang Chen asked.
"Delete that WeChat Moment, so people don’t get the wrong idea,"
Jiang Chen burst into laughter.
"Deleting after posting will make you seem even more like a guilty thief. No need to be so fussy for a grown man,"
To be honest, he found that the kid even had a bit of a ’licking dog’ tendency.
However, he differed.
He rarely posted such "sentimental literary" pieces, while some people like to show off their breakups and heartaches on social media, but he never did.
