Chapter 210: 210 Second update!

"Wow, getting pretty good at negotiating with your dad, huh?"

Shi Zhenhua couldn’t help but laugh instead of getting angry.

In the corporation, he might issue orders like edicts, wielding supreme authority, controlling the livelihoods of tens of thousands of employees, but Shi Qianxi wasn’t afraid of him in the slightest.

"Just tell me if you agree or not."

"Qian Qian, you know that it’s not that your dad doesn’t want to help you, but he really can’t. You have to understand your dad’s difficulties."

"Then there’s nothing more to discuss."

Shi Qianxi made as if to get up.

"Hold on a second,"

Shi Zhenhua called out to her.

"Your mom’s back, and I plan to invite the Sun Family over for a dinner to finalize things between you and Xi Yu."

"I’m not going."

Shi Qianxi said without hesitation, "If you want to go, you go."

Shi Zhenhua frowned, truly surprised this time.

"We’re discussing your marriage here. What’s the point of your mom and I going without you? Why don’t you want to go?"

Shi Qianxi didn’t bother to explain, "Anyway, I’m just not going."

"Qian Qian, it’s one thing for you to be petulant with your mom, but don’t let your mood affect other matters. That’s your future in-laws we’re talking about. How can you not show up?"

Shi Zhenhua admonished.

"You have to go, whether you like it or not."

"Dad, are you also tired of me?"

Shi Zhenhua was taken aback by the question, somewhat confused.

"When have I ever been tired of you?"

"Then why are you in such a hurry to marry me off?"

Shi Zhenhua’s face was inscrutable, both annoyed and amused. His lips moved, but he remained silent for a moment. Still, he couldn’t help but remind her, "The arrangement with Xi Yu was your choice, wasn’t it? You said Xi Yu was not bad. How has it become me forcing you now?"

"Before, I thought he was not bad because I had only heard about him and hadn’t really gotten to know him."

Shi Zhenhua picked up on the hint, his brows furrowing as he tentatively said, "Qian Qian, are you saying that now you..."

"Yeah, I don’t like him anymore."

Shi Qianxi nodded resolutely, as if it were the most natural thing.

Confronted with his daughter’s fickleness, Shi Zhenhua didn’t immediately explode with rage. After a silent moment, he asked indifferently, "Is this why your mom cut off your credit card?"

Up to this point, he still hadn’t had a clear picture of why mother and daughter were at odds.

Shi Qianxi could see that, of course, and would certainly not explain. Given her mother’s lax nature, to blow up over this matter meant that even with her dad’s broad vision, if he knew she’d shared a bed with a man, he probably wouldn’t let it slide easily.

Miss Shi, as capricious as she might be, was not a fool.

"She’s your wife, can’t you ask her about things instead of always coming to me? Go ask her."

Knowing that lying wasn’t smart, Miss Shi smartly chose to back away, immediately blocking off the topic.

And indeed, Shi Zhenhua asked no further.

"Qian Qian, it was you who told me that you had taken a fancy to Xi Yu, and that’s why Dad discussed it with the Sun Family. Now that both families are nearly in agreement, you’re saying you don’t like him anymore. How am I supposed to explain this to them?"

"Just tell them the truth."

Shi Qianxi was nonchalant, "Besides, Sun Xiyu doesn’t like me either. Dad, the other day, Sun Xiyu secretly celebrated another girl’s birthday behind my back! And he even sneakily took out Aunt Feng’s blood diamond to give away as a present!"

"This happened?"

"Yeah!"

Shi Qianxi nodded vehemently, emphatically saying, "If I hadn’t rushed over in time, he would probably have really given it away. Dad, he doesn’t like me at all. If I really married him, I would never be happy for the rest of my life. I might even end up wearing a lot of green hats!"

Shi Zhenhua’s expression shifted.

His daughter had the knack for making absurd actions and statements, yet they somehow always managed to make him cry with laughter.

"Talking nonsense! When have you ever seen a girl wearing a green hat?!"

"Are you saying only men can wear green hats?"

Shi Qianxi argued with reason, "Dad, if I marry Sun Xiyu, he’s definitely going to cheat!"

"Xi Yu won’t do that."

Shi Zhenhua shook his head.

He didn’t think his daughter was deceiving him; although she was wilful, there was at least one thing about her: she at least understood that her father was not so easily fooled.

Since she had said it in front of him, there must be some truth to it.

That Sun Xiyu had affections for someone else didn’t come as a surprise to him; after all, his daughter’s temperament was quite stubborn. But if they really got married, it would be a different matter.

Males, especially when young, flirting around was quite normal, but if the marriage union truly succeeded, Shi Zhenhua believed that even out of respect for his position as a father-in-law, Sun Xiyu wouldn’t dare mess around.

It was his precious daughter, on the other hand.

If she truly didn’t like the other party, forcing her to marry could lead to all sorts of trouble.

At that point, it was really hard to say who would end up wearing the green hat.

"Dad, I’ve given you the reason, just use the blood diamond incident to talk with the Sun Family. They’re at fault for that, they’ll definitely have nothing to say."

One had to admit, Miss Shi sometimes seemed not too bright, but at other times, she was exceptionally sharp.

"Qian Qian, but have you considered something?"

Shi Zhenhua didn’t express agreement or disagreement but instead said, "Apart from Xi Yu, who else in East Sea is more suitable for you? Maybe you two don’t have feelings for each other now, but remember, feelings can be cultivated after marriage."

"Dad, don’t deceive me, you and mom have been married for decades, but what’s the result? Where has all the love you cultivated gone?"

Shi Zhenhua was momentarily at a loss for words.

"That’s between your mother and me, it’s none of your business."

"Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t interfere."

Shi Qianxi muttered, "Anyway, I’m not marrying, let whoever wants to marry do so."

Having said that, she didn’t give her father any face at all and got up to go upstairs.

Shi Zhenhua drank his tea unhurriedly, not bothering to stop her.

"Boss."

After a while, two bodyguards sauntered in late, bowing as they stood by the couch.

Shi Zhenhua closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose.

The couple seemed to share the same habit.

"Miss has been back for so long, why have you only just arrived?"

"Boss, the miss switched cars with us, and then we found that her car was out of gas, so we had to go look for a gas station mid-way."

MeiLing was really as ruthless as ever, hitting the girl’s weak point right off the bat.

"Where did you find the miss?"

"Near East Sea University, she was eating there and also had some conflict with some students."

Shi Zhenhua didn’t ask about the ins and outs, nor the extent of the conflict, as he had clearly seen his daughter’s ’lively and vigorous’ state just a moment ago.

"Was the miss alone?"

"No, there was also a male student."

The bodyguards reported every detail.

"Just the two of them?"

"Yes."

"The miss and that male student seemed to be on good terms, and before leaving, she said she would go looking for him another day."

Shi Zhenhua’s eyes remained closed, and he was silent for a moment.

"You may go now."
