Chapter 1405: 952 courting death
"Hey, handsome, alone?"
A strong scent of perfume wafts over, followed by a glamorous woman appearing next to Jiang Chen.
A pencil skirt, so short one can’t help but worry about exposure when sitting down, and a tight crop top that resembles a tube top, showing her navel—it may be hot summer now, but it’s still too revealing.
"I’m waiting for someone."
In a bar, being approached is normal, especially when the other party is an attractive woman with good qualities. As a gentleman, Jiang Chen behaved quite politely and kept his gaze restrained.
"Mind if I have a seat?"
Jiang Chen shook his head.
The woman sat down naturally, resting her arm on the small round table, leaning slightly forward instinctively, making her chest even heavier.
With such a narrow waist yet such bounty, it’s truly a biological miracle.
Of course.
Things in bars are not to be easily trusted.
No one can guarantee whether something is stuffed inside.
"Handsome, you probably aren’t a regular at IDo. You look unfamiliar to me—is it your first time here?"
The woman sized up Jiang Chen, very outgoing and bold.
Jiang Chen nodded slightly, "Kind of. Do you come here often?"
The sexy woman took out a pack of lady cigarettes, pulled one out, put it in her mouth, and lit it with a "snap" from a lighter, squinting as she took a drag.
It turned out to be that kind of one-dollar lighter.
And Jiang Chen could clearly see the scantily clad woman printed on the lighter.
You should know.
IDo is a bar where the average spend is four figures.
"Not really often, maybe four or five nights a week."
The woman skilfully blew out smoke rings, held the slender cigarette between her manicured fingers, noticed Jiang Chen’s gaze, and thus pushed the lighter and cigarette box towards him.
"Thank you, but I don’t smoke."
Upon hearing that, the woman looked at him, her eyes slightly wide, "Really?"
"Smoking is bad for your health."
Jiang Chen picked up his wine glass.
The woman snorted lightly, "Handsome, your style is quite classy. Even if you’re pretending, I’ll buy it."
Jiang Chen remained calm and asked, "What would you like to drink?"
The woman was slightly startled but wasn’t shy, "Out of the drinks here, my favorite is XC16."
Jiang Chen, understandingly, raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
"Sir."
The waiter quickly walked over.
"Get this lady a glass of XC..."
The music was blaring, and he didn’t hear clearly.
The woman looked at him, smiled peculiarly, and then added to the waiter, "XC16."
"Alright, please wait a moment."
The waiter went to get the drink.
"Handsome, you’re generous."
The woman, smoking sensually, gave Jiang Chen a thumbs up.
Jiang Chen was unfazed, as if it was nothing significant, and said with a smile, "I believe every man here at the bar would do the same, not mind buying you a drink."
The woman seemed genuinely intrigued at this point, flicking ash from her cigarette, lazily crossing her legs, and tilted her head looking at Jiang Chen, "You’re mostly right, but XC16 isn’t always like that."
Then, she smiled meaningfully, "Handsome, do you know how much a glass of XC16 costs?"
"How much?"
She made a hand gesture.
"Eight hundred per glass?"
Jiang Chen was surprised.
"Yes."
The woman nodded, smoking.
"It’s really quite expensive."
"You were the one to offer me the drink."
"You know I’m not familiar with this place."
Jiang Chen seemed wholly indifferent to a man’s pride, "Can it be returned?"
The woman shrugged her bare shoulders.
"Your XC16."
Speak of the devil and he appears.
The waiter inconveniently delivered the drink.
The woman looked at Jiang Chen helplessly, not at all shy, picked it up and took a gentle sip, then exhaled comfortably.
Obviously, it couldn’t be returned, and Jiang Chen didn’t dwell on it further.
"Have a taste."
Suddenly.
The amber-colored XC16 was pushed over.
"It’s expensive for a reason."
Of course, Jiang Chen decisively shook his head and declined.
"Dislike it?"
The woman laughed, "Then order another yourself. It’d be a pity to visit IDo and not taste this drink."
"Too expensive."
Jiang Chen said frankly.
"Handsome, do you really take me for one of those college girls? You don’t look like someone short on money."
"Your taste is that good?"
"To play in a bar, can one succeed with poor judgment?"
She said, taking another sip of her drink.
Jiang Chen smiled softly.
The words hit home.
Especially for girls, hanging out in bars without a bit of skill, who knows how badly they could end up.
"I’m not that interested in drinks."
"I notice you’re not much interested in women either."
The other quickly responded.
Jiang Chen paused, showing a hint of curiosity.
"You’ve been sitting alone for a while, not approaching anyone. Men who come to a bar to have fun aren’t usually like you."
Jiang Chen chuckled silently, "Have you been observing me all this time?"
"Just happened to notice, that’s all."
The woman replied nonchalantly, with little regard, "You look alright, but not to the extent of shining brightly, you know what I mean."
"Then what brings you here? For free drinks?" Jiang Chen asked with a smile.
The woman, just setting down her glass, "Handsome, I don’t like that remark. I didn’t ask you to order, you chose to do so yourself."
Jiang Chen should have nothing to say.
"Alright, if you feel cheated, I don’t like taking advantage either. Shall we go dance together, is that enough?"
No wonder she’s an expert in bars, this woman knows the Jianghu rules.
"Forget it, just treat it as my treat. It’s tough working here too."
Jiang Chen shook his head.
"Working?"
The woman, good-looking and well-shaped above average, was taken aback, her eyebrows knitting—not quite angry before, but now seemed genuinely a bit fired up.
