Chapter 89: It’s Just He Is Too Strong
Chapter 89: It’s Just He Is Too Strong
Aamir stepped onto the central stage. It was the first match of the day, and his was one of the first three to begin. His opponent was already waiting—the crimson-haired boy from Carnelia.
The crowd murmured with curiosity as the boy adjusted the high-tech gauntlets covering his entire arms. Two cylindrical pipes—more like silencers—extended from his elbows, and similar enhancements were integrated into his chest plate and shoes.
The host’s voice echoed across the arena, "For the audience and participants’ information, using gear like armor pieces is allowed in the battle! So, if contestant Aamir from Mini Group B wishes to use any gear, he is free to do so."
Aamir gave a casual shrug.
"Well, that’s good to know," he said calmly, "but I’ll fight without them."
Aamir narrowed his eyes at the boy in front of him. Carnelia, huh? Their tech is no joke. He stretched his fingers, warming up. The gauntlets weren’t just for show—he could tell by the way the kid stood, coiled like a spring.
Still... no reason to hold back completely, he thought, his lips curling into a faint smile.
Then, in his mind, he asked,
"Hai, Luman, is it possible to summon my weapons or armor directly onto my body from dimensional space?"
"Yes, it is," Luman replied immediately.
Aamir nodded slightly.
"Then... summon gauntlets."
With a sudden flicker of light, two shimmering objects began to materialize on his arms. When they fully formed, the arena fell silent—Aamir now wore a sleek, powerful pair of gauntlets.
Gasps erupted from the audience.
"Wait, how did he do that?"
"Is he a mage?"
"No way—mages can’t summon gear like that, can they?"
Aamir simply looked at the host and said,
"I’m ready."
The host, who had been staring in awe, shook himself from his daze.
"Oh! Y-Yes! All six fighters, are you ready?"
Each participant nodded.
"Then... let the match begin!"
Meanwhile, in the Audience
Kunal sat with his arms crossed, watching intently. Next to him, a girl leaned forward, eyes on the center stage.
"That boy in the middle stage—Aamir, right? He looks confident... or maybe overconfident," she said. "He’s with you, isn’t he? From Aryavrata?"
Kunal nodded.
"Yes, he is. And believe me, he’s the last person who’d ever be overconfident. He just knows exactly what he’s capable of."
The girl raised an eyebrow.
"Oh really? And what makes you and him think he’s going to win? You think the Carnelian boy is weak?"
Kunal shook his head.
"No. Min-hyuk Ryu isn’t weak. It’s just that Aamir is... too strong."
"Hmph. Then let’s see who wins," she replied, her tone sharp. "I’m from Carnelia too, so I’ve got to support my own."
"Fair enough," Kunal said with a faint smirk.
Back on the Stage
As the bell rang, Min-hyuk Ryu lunged forward. The boosters on his elbows and legs flared to life with a high-pitched hiss, propelling him at blistering speed. His gauntlet-covered fist shot toward Aamir.
Boom!
Aamir raised his arm and blocked the punch cleanly, sliding back slightly from the impact.
Min-hyuk didn’t stop—he spun and delivered a high kick to Aamir’s head. Aamir raised his hand to block again, but this time the boosters in Min-hyuk’s shoes activated mid-kick, adding even more force. Aamir’s arm trembled slightly under the pressure.
He scoffed.
"Hm. Not bad."
Min-hyuk’s eyes lit up with a competitive spark.
"You’re strong, but I’m not done yet."
Aamir tilted his head slightly. He’s adjusting his momentum mid-fight. That armor isn’t just for power—it’s built for precision and adaptability.
This boy... he’s trained hard.
But even as he acknowledged the skill, Aamir’s body remained relaxed, his breathing steady.
In the Audience
The girl beside Kunal smirked.
"See? He’s not even letting your friend breathe. How is he going to win if he’s constantly on the back foot?"
Kunal didn’t say anything at first. Then he lifted a finger and pointed to the stage.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
Back to the Stage
Min-hyuk grinned. "So you can block me. But can you catch me?"
He activated the heel boosters, vanishing in a blur and reappearing behind Aamir. A precise jab aimed at Aamir’s ribs—only to be caught mid-strike.
Min-hyuk froze.
"What—how did—"
Aamir looked over his shoulder, voice calm. "You talk too much."
Then came the pressure.
Suddenly, a wave of pressure spread through the arena. Aamir’s energy flared, sharp and unrestrained. The audience visibly flinched, and even the other fighters paused on their stages, feeling the suffocating intensity.
Min-hyuk blinked in confusion.
"W-What?! You weren’t even using your energy till now?"
Aamir calmly replied,
"No. That was just my natural strength."
Min-hyuk’s eyes widened. So did the eyes of the girl next to Kunal.
"What... what kind of monster is he?" she whispered.
Kunal smirked.
"He is the deciple of Haider Ali, after all."
The girl’s jaw dropped.
"Wait... you mean the Haider Ali? The Lion of the Battlefield?"
Kunal nodded.
"Yes. Indeed."
She turned back toward the stage in awe.
"...Are all contestants from Aryavrata this strong?"
Kunal’s eyes gleamed with quiet pride.
"Yes."
Then it’s gonna be a great competition.
Aamir grabbed Min-hyuk’s leg mid-attack, pulled him off balance, and delivered a powerful punch—but this time, he held back just enough to only knock him out.
Boom!
The red-haired fighter crashed to the ground. The host exclaimed,
"Amazing! Aamir has defeated his opponent in just two minutes—with a single finishing move!"
The crowd roared as Aamir stepped off the stage, leaving the other two matches behind. He made his way back into the contestants’ zone, where his teammates were already waiting.
Before Riya and the others could reach him, an extra-hyper girl dashed in front.
"Wow! You were awesome, Aamir-senpai!" Miyo shouted, jumping up and down.
Before Misaki could add her comment, Riya grabbed Aamir’s arm and pulled him closer.
"That was incredible, Aamir!" she said, smiling brightly.
Seenu nodded, impressed.
"Nice match, man."
Raj gave him a thumbs up.
"Clean. Fast. Powerful."
Meanwhile, in the Audience Kunal leaned back with a smug grin.
"Now what do you think?"
The girl beside him stared at the arena, stunned.
"...I have nothing to say, actually."
Then she turned to him with a polite smile.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Hyun Ji-won."
Kunal nodded.
"I’m Kunal Singhaniya."
Her eyes lit up with interest.
"Singhaniya, huh? Well... interesting."
Aamir smiled slightly. "Thanks. I’ve got another match after the break, so I’m heading to the audience area to relax. Kunal’s sitting there, you know."
"Yeah? We’ll come too," Riya said, and the group followed.
As they were leaving, Sinki quietly stepped forward from behind.
"I’ll come too. My match is the day after tomorrow, so I’m free."
They all made their way to where Kunal was sitting and somehow managed to squeeze into the surrounding seats.
Raj leaned back and said with a grin, "So, how’s it going, man?"
Kunal shrugged. "Well, sitting here, getting bored. I already knew Aamir’s outcome. And aside from him, no good battles have happened yet."
He nodded toward Aamir.
Ji-won glanced at Aamir and the group, then turned to Kunal.
"So, they’re all your friends?"
Kunal nodded. "Yeah, they are. And these three are from Kyokai," he added, pointing at Sinki, Misaki, and Miyo.
Ji-won smiled politely. "Oh, well, hello everyone. I’m Hyun Ji-won, from the Carnelia team."
Aamir looked over. "Hm. You guys are pretty smart, I guess—because that guy... what was his name? Oh, right. Min-hyuk Ryu. He had a pretty cool armor setup."
Ji-won chuckled. "You know, all the students in Carnelia design and build their own gear according to their abilities."
Aamir’s eyes widened slightly. "Man, that’s amazing."
"So wait," Aamir leaned in, curious. "Every student builds their own gear from scratch? That must take years."
Ji-won nodded. "It does. We start training with tech as early as ten. Not everyone becomes a fighter—some stay engineers. But in Carnelia, you fight best when you know your own tools."
"That’s... kinda cool," Aamir said. "Aryavrata should try something like that."
Kunal smirked. "You know why Carnelia’s king is called the Tech Prodigy?"
Aamir shook his head. "No, I don’t."
Kunal leaned back. "Because Carnelia was the nation that invented magic portals, Runewheelers, and the fastest Runerails. Making them fast using enchanted ancient runes was actually the king’s idea."
Aamir blinked. "Well... that’s crazy."
Kunal smiled. "If you think that’s crazy—"
Seenu interrupted with a teasing tone, "Oh, Professor Kunal, please stop with the lectures!"
The group burst into laughter, the tension from the battle fading away into friendly banter.
But not far from them, a hooded figure leaned against the railing at the top of the stadium. His eyes never left Aamir and his friends.
"So... these are the one they’re all talking about," he muttered under his breath. A faint pulse of dark energy shimmered around his wrist, then vanished.
He turned and walked away.
"Let’s see how long you can keep smiling... before everything burns."
