I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 97 - 97 096. Uncontrollable Positive Energy_1

Chapter 97: 096. Uncontrollable Positive Energy_1 Chapter 97: 096. Uncontrollable Positive Energy_1 [Metamorphosis] difficulty still hadn’t lit up, and he was more than ten thousand points shy of unlocking it. In theory, if this mission succeeded, along with the return from his professional development mission, Lu Ban should be able to unlock both the new level of the Silent Department Store and the new difficulty.

He glanced at the remaining three difficulties.

“Hm? The [Corrosion] difficulty is still a triple multiplier, with a basic score of three thousand points and no increase? In that case, three thousand points should be the standard reward for subsequent regular missions, right?”

Previously, the reward for each mission had been higher than the last, and Lu Ban had thought it might snowball, growing wave after wave. If even the [Mortal] difficulty had rewards in the tens of thousands later on, he would simply rake it in.

Now it seemed that the three thousand points for the [Corrosion] difficulty was the peak. Since his last mission, he had truly entered the daily grind of [The Silent Land].

To earn higher returns in missions from now on, he would have to either increase the exploration level or choose a higher difficulty!

“[Corrosion] is a triple multiplier, so maybe [Metamorphosis] is four times?”

Taking into account the increase in basic rewards, just one [Metamorphosis] mission could yield over twenty thousand Silence Points. It would be like a point farming tool.

Lu Ban couldn’t help but look forward to it.

Of course, the present was most important.

“Finding the missing artist really does look like a brainpower task. Hm? Wait a minute, seems like the mission doesn’t specify that the person has to be alive?”

Lu Ban had a sudden inspiration.

“Last time, Cui Siter simply figured out a way to get the bride and groom a cannon blast to complete the mission of surviving until after the wedding. So this time, if I just blow up the entirety of Song Island, wouldn’t that ‘find’ the missing artist and also survive till the end of the poetry festival?”

He found his idea quite reasonable.

However, after all, Lu Ban was a gentle and kind, law-abiding good citizen who wouldn’t commit such a heinous act as ethnic cleansing.

He always adhered to positive energy, because according to the experiences of Cui Siter and Du Danping, if one lets things slide in [The Silent Land], they might encounter even more terrifying things.

Just thinking about it made Lu Ban unable to resist the urge to go downstairs to help an elderly lady across the street, to vent the surging positive energy within him.

After standing up and cleaning his room, making it so clean that the toilet water was drinkable, Lu Ban sat back down.

“The organizers from Song Island are really irresponsible. As a law-abiding citizen, I must correct their mistake!”

He grumbled indignantly, then suddenly remembered something.

“That’s right, the air friends are also a specialty of He Dao. If you come with me this time, you might even see some friends.”

Lu Ban spoke to his invisible air friend beside him.

“I just hope you won’t be lured away by other female air friends when the time comes.”

Lu Ban gathered his things and opened the mission panel, choosing [Corrosion] difficulty.

[Enter The Silent Land?]

[Yes/No]

He confirmed decisively.

A fog spread from the computer screen, and Lu Ban caught the salty smell of the sea, along with some pungent odors that tickled the throat.

Click—

Click-click—

Click-click-click—

A series of crisp sounds arose around him, increasing in frequency and leading to irritation.

The dense fog completely enveloped Lu Ban’s body. Contrary to expectations, the room didn’t cool down but grew even hotter.

As the last few cicadas outside reached their loudest, Lu Ban and the fog vanished from the room.

[The flow of time in The Silent Land differs from the outside world.]

[Time ratio for this journey is 2:1.]

[Number of companions: 0.]

[Heading to He Dao.]

Swaying, sinking, dazed.

Lu Ban, not yet recovered from his dizziness, opened his eyes and saw a pale mist spreading over the dark green waters, with a solitary small boat swaying on the waves, defenseless. Behind him, the enormous three-masted ship loomed like a giant beast, peering through the thin fog at all living creatures.

“We’re almost there,”

said the boatman rowing the oars, which fully roused Lu Ban’s consciousness.

“Song Island is always shrouded in fog, it’s no big deal.”

The aged boatman took a deep breath of the moist, fog-laden air, seemingly gaining more strength in his strokes.

Lu Ban looked around.

He was the only one on the small boat, which seemed to have been lowered from the massive three-masted vessel behind him.

“Doesn’t Song Island have a deep-water dock?”

he asked instinctively.

“Yes, of course, the docks of Song Island are the busiest in He Dao. It’s just that this isn’t the right season, and nobody wants to come.”

The sight of the boatman laboring hard at the oars made Lu Ban feel uncomfortable. He wanted to help, but he was helpless, not knowing the first thing about rowing—his assistance might just make things worse.

So, Lu Ban could only blow two breaths behind him, to help speed up the boat.

“Why don’t they want to come? Isn’t it the Poetry Festival now?”

Lu Ban used the conversation techniques he had learned from Cui Siter, who had said that to communicate with a stranger, one should first follow the other’s lead, then show a serious attitude towards listening, and finally, respond with substance.

“Ah, the Poetry Festival, indeed, it is quite an event. All the poets and painters from He Dao come here, but it’s just not the right time, not now…”

The boatman sighed, but suddenly, the waves surged, causing the small boat to lurch.

“Careful, it might be a big fish.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Ban looked into the water.

The ink-green sea churned but did not appear turbid, rather it grew even more translucent.

So much so, that Lu Ban could make out the things swimming in it.

“Luminescent fish? No, this is…”

He saw a small group of long-bodied fish emitting a green glow swimming by, then deeper in the water, color-changing jellyfish floated about. Looking further down, Lu Ban saw pitch darkness.

No, it wasn’t the murkiness caused by the refraction of seawater. In fact, even in the fog, the sunlight was still able to penetrate the surface of the water and illuminate the seabed.

What Lu Ban saw, was the body of some immense creature.

His gaze swept forward and back but could not capture the entirety of the giant beast.

The tiny skiff was moving just above that creature which was as huge as a small hill.

Eyes—Lu Ban quickly saw its eyes.

This creature resembled a whale, at least the upper part of its body did, like a whale. At the top of the whale’s head, hundreds of eyes opened amidst the cracked skin, looking around haphazardly. But soon, as one of them caught sight of the small boat, all eyes simultaneously turned towards Lu Ban in an instant.

In that fleeting eternity, Lu Ban locked eyes with the monster.

Unsure of which eye to focus on, he simply looked straight ahead.

“What is this?”

Lu Ban pointed at the creature, assuming that since the boatman showed no unusual reaction, surely it must be a docile being.

However, when he turned to look at the boatman, the elderly man had already leapt into the sea, his face etched with terror.

The next moment, Lu Ban felt himself being lifted.

The entire boat was lifted as the colossal whale-like beast broke the surface of the sea, emitting a heart-throbbing, low-pitched cry, before flipping and crashing back into the water.

Lu Ban fell into the sea with a splash, leaving behind only a few bubbles.
