I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 941 - 941 940. Eye of the Storm
Chapter 941: 940. Eye of the Storm Chapter 941: 940. Eye of the Storm As an island in the South Pacific, there were no measures to deal with typhoons, after all, theoretically, a typhoon was never expected in one’s lifetime here.
Thus, when that beyond-extreme Gale Wind descended, all buildings on the island began to shake.
Sounds of objects falling from shelves were incessant, but even more prevalent were the loud crashes of signs being blown off rooftops.
The higher the altitude, the faster the wind speed.
Bang—
A billboard was blown skyward in such a fashion, capable of killing one or two people; it spun like a piece of paper, torn to shreds by the Gale Wind.
In almost an instant, Lu Ban’s view was completely dominated by the typhoon.
The rolling thunder made the windowpanes tremble, and the occasional lightning that flashed between the menacing clouds seemed as if it would strike the earth any moment, instilling dread.
Snap, snap, snap—
Some unsecured windows and doors made loud banging noises from the wind; at this moment, raindrops began to fall. Within a mere few seconds, it escalated into torrential rain, merging the sky with the ocean.
The wind was still gaining strength.
Nearby, ships preparing to return to port bobbed on the waves. One surge after another grew steadily higher until soon, the waves crested over their tops. Smaller boats were capsized directly by the waves, their desperate cries for help lost in the murky water, while larger vessels attempted to stay stable amidst the relentless mountainous swells, but the ocean offered them no such opportunity. The ruthless Gale Wind toppled them over, charging toward the harbor direction.
Boom—
A large vessel smashed into the harbor’s pier; the heavy metal collided with the concrete structure, causing severe deformations, and the fishermen inside were thrown out, washed ashore by the waves’ baptism.
The wind continued to accelerate.
The tablet issued another notification tone, and Lu Ban saw that the text within this warning was already garbled, a clear sign that signals had been affected, cutting off the island from the outside world entirely.
“What’s that?”
Shia remarked, pointing towards the midair.
Lu Ban followed the direction of Shia’s pointing finger and looked up.
Above, a dark shadow drifted with the wind, carving a massive circle in its sweep.
Lu Ban focused and realized it was a small plane.
The strong wind had already reached the vicinity of the airport. Lightweight airplanes mainly used for traveling between islands were mostly blown into the sky, spiraling into the storm.
Theoretically, this was almost impossible, but after all, it was merely something unseen in human history.
In ancient times, when humans were still apes, or even when the ancestors of these apes were mere rodents in forests, on the savage lands, there had been rain seasons lasting millions of years, with storms far surpassing today’s scale, forming and growing over the vast oceans, sweeping away everything.
And now, this storm seemed as though it had traversed time to arrive in the present.
A normal typhoon would quickly weaken after making landfall, bringing wind and rain before dissipating into a tropical storm and vanishing.
But in the face of such a scale of storm, the island was merely a small reef, completely incapable of diminishing it in the slightest.
Distant waves surged towards the heavens, and most buildings along the coast were already destroyed by the tide. The skies darkened, and the rain seemed like a wall, cutting off the entire world.
Lu Ban saw that the small plane had finally broken free from the Gale Wind’s grasp; it lost the power to stay airborne and was flying towards Lu Ban’s location.
“!!!”
Lu Ban hurriedly grabbed Amber and ran toward the convenience store.
Boom—
A loud crash sounded as the airplane struck the second floor of a building across the street. The force of the impact ripped open the ceiling of the second floor. The residents inside had no time to react before the storm swept them away, flying high into the sky, their screams growing faint.
Lu Ban and the others made it into the convenience store. By now, holding an umbrella was pointless, as rain blew in from all directions, accompanied by stones, fragments of boats, and various unidentified flying objects.
“Damn! What kind of rain is this?!”
The convenience store clerk cursed out loud. The noise outside was terrifying; all he could do was cover his ears, squatting behind the cash register, hoping to survive the typhoon.
The noise outside grew louder and louder. Lu Ban had a bad feeling. He instructed Amber and Shia to also take cover under the cash register, then quickly went to the shelves nearby to grab two flashlights and insert batteries.
The continuous sound, similar to firecrackers, was rapidly approaching. Lu Ban watched the concrete walls of the convenience store shake and crack.
Boom—
The next moment, the wall shattered.
Flying debris flew out, hitting the shelves ahead of Lu Ban. The stainless-steel racks immediately broke apart, along with the potato chips, snacks, and drinks. For a moment, everything surged toward Lu Ban.
He immediately turned and ran, feeling something liquid splash onto his back. Lu Ban was relieved that there were several supermarket shelves in front of him, blocking most of the impact. He was not hit by the first wave of flying debris.
With a forward dive, Lu Ban rolled in behind the cash register.
The next moment, countless products surged over like waves, covering the four of them.
Ketchup, instant noodles, olive oil, sunscreen—all sorts of items mixed together, covering them like quicksand.
Amber hugged Lu Ban. She wasn’t truly scared; with memories of similar events, Amber could face such a situation calmly, her expression unchanged and her heart steady. If real danger arose, she could even summon those shadowy creatures to protect herself and Lu Ban.
But then again, was now the time to talk about it?
Shia hugged her head. All she could hear was noise outside, like the loudest KTV, with various chaotic sounds filling her eardrums, preventing her from thinking, forcing her to curl up tightly, fearful of being blown away.
The tumult continued for about ten minutes.
It was only when an extreme buzzing sound subsided that Shia felt the outside had finally quieted down.
She did nothing rash but waited a bit longer before trying to stand up.
Shia should be grateful the wind was strong enough; otherwise, she would be covered in debris.
Pushing away the somewhat heavy snack fragments and a few boards that hadn’t been blown away, Shia managed to stand up.
The first thing she saw was a wall.
The wall extended infinitely upward and to the left and right, forming a closed loop.
Shia saw that most of the buildings on The Island had been sheared off one layer, and the block where the convenience store was located had its ceiling completely blown off, like a mischievous child had brutally sliced open a cake with a fruit knife.
She felt a sense of dissonance and looked up.
All she saw was a black sun hanging high in the center of the storm.
