I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 940 - 940 939. Typhoon
Chapter 940: 939. Typhoon Chapter 940: 939. Typhoon Ke Luban had just typed out his name and checked out a few news articles when he heard a rumble arise from the sky.
He looked up and saw that dawn was just breaking, the sky a stretch of azure.
“What is that sound?”
Shia appeared slightly confused. She stood up, looking around, but soon fixed her gaze on one end of the road.
Lu Ban followed Shia’s line of sight and saw, at the far end of the street that ran through the island, where one could directly see the sea level, dark clouds gathered, thunder condensed, and a cloud mass large enough to obscure the horizon was rolling their way.
In just a few minutes, the expanse of the dark clouds had grown larger, turning into a natural disaster that could not be ignored.
“A typhoon?”
Lu Ban found it somewhat unbelievable, as the island was located near the equator, and the equator was a well-known windless belt. Typhoon formation was not a common occurrence near equatorial regions.
Thus, the storm appearing here was most likely not a regular storm.
Ding—
A notification popped up on the tablet. Lu Ban clicked it open and found it was an emergency alert from the local meteorological office, indicating that a typhoon was forming south of the island. It warned ships at sea to return to port as soon as possible to prepare for the storm, and announced that all flights at the airport were temporarily canceled.
“How could there be a typhoon here?”
Shia found it hard to believe, glancing at Amber.
“Could this also be the doing of some behind-the-scenes manipulator?”
“I don’t know, but it’s very likely.”
Amber shook her head and said, looking towards the gathering storm and murmuring to herself,
“Is He trying to eliminate unstable elements?”
When Lu Ban heard this, he quickly understood what Amber meant.
It was now clear that Amber had been in contact with Charlotte. If Amber continued to be around Lu Ban, no doubt, the scenario The Dark One initially wanted to see would be difficult to unfold. There was even a chance Charlotte would find a loophole and make a threatening move against The Dark One.
Thus, The Dark One was most likely trying to pull Amber away from Lu Ban and then find a way to reset Lu Ban’s memory.
As for why He did not take action personally, Lu Ban speculated it also had to do with His identity.
If a Supreme God of this level were to directly witness this event, many things would be set in stone, unchangeable. Certainly, The Dark One would not want to see that happen.
Even Lu Ban, thereby, expanded his thinking: might the Chosen by Gods be similar to these Outer Gods as they are to the Divine Being who, legend has it in the Splendid Realm, sealed other Ancient Overlords?
As far as Lu Ban knew, that one existed in perpetual blindness and folly, and the entire world was a dream of His. So even the Outer Gods, The Dark One’s true form, must be wary of that existence.
Therefore, He could only move in darkness while He slept, rewriting the history and development of Foreign Domains.
In other words, if traces of The Dark One were detected by that slumbering, blindly foolish being, even the incarnations of the Outer Gods could be trapped by fate’s closed loop.
Of course, if that were really to happen, Lu Ban felt he would likely be ‘removed’ first.
Such an act was akin to mutual destruction.
But the current situation was different.
The Dark One had surfaced, this Foreign Domain was His handiwork, and Lu Ban could find connections to Him here while Charlotte was still in the shadows, influencing this world only through Amber.
Thus, as long as Charlotte used Amber or Lu Ban to engage in actions that touched upon a higher level of the narrative, The Dark One might get dragged into it.
A game between two incarnations of the Outer Gods, using the entire Foreign Domain as a chessboard.
This typhoon, without a doubt, was also coming to settle the score with Amber, preventing Charlotte from continuing to influence Lu Ban through Amber.
“So you’re saying that there are indeed matters here that would make The Dark One wary?”
Lu Ban thought to himself.
After all, there was still a significant mystery that had not been explained: in this Foreign Domain, mentioning the names of various Ancient Overlords, or even Outer Gods, wouldn’t lead to Pollution, and encountering bizarre entities wouldn’t cause one’s Sanity to be lost. Spreading and acquiring knowledge wasn’t subjected to Corrosion either.
Meaning, most of the laws of the Foreign Domain were invalidated here.
At least, in Lu Ban’s cognition, Charlotte wasn’t capable of easily achieving this.
The Dark One and Charlotte were incarnations of the same caliber; there shouldn’t be such a great disparity in their strength.
Therefore, The Dark One must have utilized some special means to construct this world.
And this means, Lu Ban thought, even He Himself might not be able to fully control.
Because Lu Ban could speak The Dark One’s name directly without any punishment, this meant that His name had also lost its power here.
One might ask, as an incarnation of the Supreme God, nearly ranking higher than all the Ancient Overlords, how could He allow Himself to fall into such peril?
But precisely because He is The Dark One, the personification of Ultimate Chaos, He could possibly do such a thing.
Other Supreme Gods might be wary of danger, instinctively avoiding such perils.
But maybe He wouldn’t.
On the contrary, it was exactly such treacherous situations that He preferred to see, even relishing the thrill of living on the edge.
Hence, Lu Ban had the opportunity to encounter some secrets in this world, and if worse came to worst, he would just flip the table.
However, what needed consideration at the moment was the impact of this typhoon.
Once the typhoon formed, its wind speed began to escalate continuously, and its pace also increased. What was just a patch of dark clouds on the horizon had now taken over a third of the sky.
Lu Ban saw with his own eyes the huge spiraling vortex constantly swirling in the air, where bright lightning streaked across, looking gloomy and horrifying. Winds began on the street, causing the umbrellas to shake wildly, and many flyers were lifted into the sky, floating towards the sea.
Clang—
The sounds of objects falling were heard everywhere, the open windows banged loudly, and the whole Island grew noisy.
Nearby, a convenience store cashier, yawning, stepped out to check on the situation and was instantly intimidated by the chaotic scene outside. He hurried back into the store to tightly close the other window.
Ding—
His tablet pinged again with a notification, and Lu Ban quickly glanced at it.
The warning displayed that the typhoon’s intensity had already exceeded level 18, but it was showing no sign of stopping.
Some typhoons were labeled level 18 because they were just that—level 18. Others, however, said level 18 simply because there were only 18 levels.
The storm before him had formed mere minutes ago and had rapidly grown into a Super Typhoon.
And such a typhoon was about to make direct impact with the Island.
Lu Ban felt the sky darken.
As if night was descending once more.
