I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 936 - 936 935. I promise you

Chapter 936: 935. I promise you Chapter 936: 935. I promise you Hearing Lu Ban’s words, Red Leaf sniffled.

She remained silent for a moment before continuing.

“You have always been that kind of person.”

The night wind stirred her hair tips gently, resembling flames to Lu Ban.

“She knew too.”

Red Leaf looked toward the villa at the center of the island.

“Wait, you know where Amber is?”

Lu Ban asked upon seeing this.

“Yes.”

Red Leaf nodded slightly, pointing in that direction.

“The black creatures we just saw were Amber’s doing.”

“She?”

Lu Ban was somewhat surprised.

According to Red Leaf, Amber must have also regained her original memory.

Moreover, she had even obtained some superpower abilities.

The black creatures had clearly existed on the island already, as Lu Ban had seen them on the beach during the day.

The origin of the white creatures was unknown.

If Amber had regained her memory, where did her superpower abilities come from, and what was she planning to do with these creatures?

The black creatures had indeed not harmed Lu Ban earlier, but rather helped them escape from the villa; if this was indeed Amber’s doing, it made sense.

“She knew everything even earlier than I did, and your coming here might also have been her effort.”

Red Leaf said.

“Her effort?”

Lu Ban fell silent.

If Amber already knew all this, then her actions were sabotaging the stable reality that Lu Ban originally had.

It was foreseeable that, moving forward, Amber would control these creatures to kill everyone around Lu Ban, eventually ending her own life to return Lu Ban to reality.

Thinking this way, Amber had made her decision from the very beginning.

“Although I want to live, want to keep delving into this dream, it seems, after all, that illusion is just illusion.”

Red Leaf spoke softly.

“However, at least it allowed me to have such a life in the end, that’s enough for me.”

She looked up at Lu Ban.

From Red Leaf’s eyes, Lu Ban had already understood the answer.

In the end, Red Leaf had chosen the same thing as Cui Siter.

If Cui Siter had made up her mind by letting fate guide her, then Red Leaf had truly solidified her own thoughts because of Lu Ban’s choices.

Lu Ban did not choose to kill Red Leaf; precisely because of this, Red Leaf chose death.

“Everything I’ve experienced is real, right?”

Red Leaf looked at Lu Ban, asking.

“Yes.”

Lu Ban nodded.

Red Leaf smiled.

She raised her hand and with a swift motion, drew something across her neck.

On her fair neck, blood surged, quickly staining her dress red.

Lu Ban saw it was a piece of glass shard, probably taken while escaping from the villa.

Red Leaf collapsed with a thud, leaning against the ship’s side, kneeling down. The hand holding the glass shard couldn’t hold on to it and instinctively covered her slit throat.

Blood spread from the wound, Red Leaf’s hands both tried to cover the wound as tears streamed from her eyes and her legs struggled; but strength was quickly leaving her body.

Lu Ban extended his hand, covering it over Red Leaf’s, the warmth slightly relaxed her as blood sprayed onto Lu Ban, who didn’t seem to mind.

Her pupils began to dilate, her struggle diminishing by the moment until, finally, there was no movement at all.

Only her lips quivered, opening and closing as if she were saying something.

Lu Ban leaned in close to listen.

He heard Red Leaf’s final words.

“Mm, I promise you.”

Lu Ban replied.

But the young girl had no breath left in her.

Lu Ban looked at Red Leaf’s lifeless eyes, not knowing if her decade-long common female life in this world could be considered fortunate.

But Lu Ban knew that Red Leaf and Cui Siter were doing the same thing.

Lu Ban was also clear that Shia and Amber, once they got their memories back, would undoubtedly do the same thing.

That was the price.

To return to the real world, to confront The Dark One who thrived in chaos, was an unavoidable cost.

“…What have you done?”

Shia’s voice came from behind Lu Ban, he turned around and saw Shia looking at him incredulously.

It was clear that Shia was still unaware of everything. In her eyes, Red Leaf had died, Lu Ban was covered in blood, there were no monsters around, and the cuts on Red Leaf were from glass shards. Red Leaf had no reason to commit suicide.

So there was only one answer.

“Did you kill her?”

Shia questioned.

“No, she chose death herself.”

Lu Ban responded, closing Red Leaf’s eyes and standing up.

“It’s hard for me to explain clearly to you, but…”

Before he could finish his sentence, the whole ship began to rock violently.

Lu Ban saw, beneath the ship, in the water, white creatures emerging incessantly.

They struck the hull like fish waiting to be fed, forcing the ship to move away from The Island.

Lu Ban quickly understood their purpose, which was to get him away from The Island, to prevent the other monsters controlled by Amber from killing Shia and forcibly completing the final step.

Boom—

The white monsters covered the hull with their finely toothed mouthparts, and soon, the steel began to crack, water entered the cabin, causing the ship to start capsizing.

“Over here.”

Lu Ban reached out his hand to Shia.

Shia saw Lu Ban’s hand and hesitated, unsure whether she should trust Lu Ban.

Another violent shake made both of them unstable, and Shia had no choice but to grab Lu Ban’s blood-stained hand.

The fishing boat began to sink gradually, they ran across the deck to the side of the ship closer to the dock.

Lu Ban let Shia jump first, he watched the girl land lightly on the dock’s ground before he himself jumped.

“…That hurts a bit.”

Perhaps due to the severe tilting of the ship, Lu Ban felt a sharp pain in his ankle as he landed, almost twisting it.

Turning his head, Lu Ban saw the fishing boat slowly sinking, Red Leaf’s body also fell, sliding into the water, submerged by the deep blue sea.

On the shore, white creatures continuously surged up, they climbed onto the dock, parked boats, and street lamps, massively surrounding Shia and Lu Ban.

Shia instinctively tightened her grip on Lu Ban’s hand. Despite her doubts, the monsters clearly presented a greater threat at the moment.

Just as the swarms of white monsters had surrounded them, with countless eyes and sharp mouthparts waiting to feast, their movements suddenly halted.

Then, these creatures gradually retreated backward, moving away from Shia and Lu Ban.

It was as if there was something even more ferocious and terrifying behind the two of them.

Lu Ban and Shia turned their heads, they saw, from the direction where they had driven, black creatures with tentacles continuously taking over the street.

In the middle of the road, countless black creatures, like flowing sand, were carrying a petite figure towards the direction of Lu Ban and Shia.

Lu Ban saw, it was Amber.
