I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 916 - 916 915. Sunshine beach sea
Chapter 916: 915. Sunshine, beach, sea Chapter 916: 915. Sunshine, beach, sea Walking behind the two young girls, Lu Ban felt the moist sea breeze blowing.
Amber had a cherry blossom decoration in her hair and wore a cream-colored two-piece swimsuit, covered by a pale cherry-colored, petal-decorated ankle-length skirt. Her slender legs appeared and disappeared under the hem of the skirt, and she wore brown Roman sandals with leather straps, revealing her delicate ankles and flawless, pearl-like toes.
Red Leaf, on the other hand, wore a bright red bikini, a white wide-sleeved shirt, denim shorts, and flip-flops. Her hair was tied up at the back of her head. Her figure was considerably better than Amber’s; the swimsuit outlined beneath the thin shirt made it hard to look away.
Both of them possessed beauty of the highest human standard. With such attire, they naturally attracted the attention of all the young people in town.
Lu Ban observed the people in the town, mostly fishermen who often went to sea, and due to their ethnicity, had dark skin, making them all appear very suntanned, with both men and women having strong muscles.
There were also some tourists in the town. The island was at a certain distance from the nearest airport, which didn’t make it a popular destination, but the benefit was fewer people. As everyone knows, popular tourist spots are crowded, especially beaches. Such a quiet atmosphere was indeed rare.
Passing by a hotel, a bar, and a restaurant while walking along the road leading down from the hill, they quickly arrived at the beach.
The island was clearly formed from volcanic eruptions, composed of volcanic rock; near the sea, the reefs were mostly black, and the sandy beach’s gravel became deep under the wash of the seawater.
Under the bright sunlight, there were fewer than ten tourists on the beach, each spaced far apart, enjoying their own summer.
Lu Ban arrived at a beach hut, where there were changing rooms, showers, lockers, and rentals available for items such as umbrellas and loungers. One could also buy food and water, though the prices were, as expected, typical for a tourist spot.
He rented an umbrella and a lounger and bought some chilled drinks. As he set them up on the beach, the girls had already changed into their swimsuits and came out of the dressing room.
“How do I look?”
Amber approached Lu Ban, asking expectantly.
“Not bad,”
Lu Ban spoke honestly.
“And how about me?”
Red Leaf asked nonchalantly.
“Pretty good,”
Lu Ban continued to be truthful.
“Tsk, you’re no fun!”
Red Leaf seemed somewhat dissatisfied and took Amber’s arm.
“Let’s go; I’ll help you apply sunscreen.”
“Ah, okay.”
Amber seemed to want to say something else to Lu Ban but was pulled away by Red Leaf.
Watching the two girls apply sunscreen to each other on the loungers, the light-colored lotion spread over their fair skin created an evocative image. Lu Ban decided to take a look at the sea.
He grabbed a chilled drink and walked to the part of the beach submerged by the seawater, feeling the cold sea water repeatedly lapping in the waves. The environment looked quite nice; no wonder the Zou Changyu couple had chosen this place for a retreat.
Meanwhile, the two girls had already splashed into the sea, playing and splashing each other, a sight that would be unimaginable in the real world.
He then looked towards another side where beyond the sandy beach were reefs and hills. Many islands have caves that are submerged during high tide and revealed during low tide, often becoming the setting for some comic book scenes. However, it was high tide now, so no such caves were visible.
Still, Lu Ban saw a few local children playing on the rocks.
The waves kept crashing; Lu Ban felt it was dangerous, so he walked over to advise them.
“This area is dangerous; it’s best not to play here.”
Thinking about the local language, Lu Ban said so in his somewhat poor English.
The children noticed Lu Ban. They stopped what they were doing and mumbled something, which Lu Ban couldn’t understand.
He stepped closer.
“Go away!”
The group of children suddenly shouted, as if they had seen some monster.
Lu Ban didn’t understand why, but they quickly scattered, agilely navigating the rocks and soon disappearing from sight.
Of course, as an experienced Chosen by Gods, Lu Ban was well aware that such suspicious places could not be dismissed as mere coincidence.
He secretly recalled the appearances of the children and made his way back to the lounge chair.
The two girls were still in the water; Lu Ban lay back on the chair, enjoying this rare leisure.
After a while, Lu Ban felt someone approaching near his head, and he looked up.
Shia wore a dark halter neck bikini with a tropical print sarong and strappy sandals. For a twenty-year-old woman, her figure might not be perfect, but her slender legs and thin waist still possessed a captivating charm. The only aspect that somewhat disrupted the picture was that Shia was holding half a watermelon and scooping out the flesh with a plastic spoon, devoid of any grace.
“Do you want some?”
Shia noticed Lu Ban looking and pushed the watermelon three centimeters towards him.
“No, thanks.”
Lu Ban declined Shia’s kind offer.
“Oh, you said that.”
Shia swiftly pulled back the watermelon and immediately took a big bite, as if worried that Lu Ban might change his mind.
“Aren’t you going to play in the water?”
She also asked.
“I have an instinctive fear of the ocean.”
Lu Ban answered.
“Did you ever nearly drown?”
Shia guessed, aware that some people who had nearly drowned as children or experienced floods could develop an almost PTSD-like aversion to going into the water.
“Not exactly drowning, but things in the ocean can feel dangerous.”
Lu Ban thought about how the three girls present had all lost their lives at The Island in that part of the ocean, and yet here they were gathered, which was a kind of fate.
“What do you think about this island?”
Shia asked again, sitting down on a neighboring lounge chair and taking another bite of watermelon.
“It’s quite nice, but I encountered a group of children earlier who called me ‘dead.'”
Lu Ban recounted his recent encounter.
“Do you find that suspicious?”
Shia laughed.
“You’re definitely different. Normal humans wouldn’t feel danger or unease from such things, but to you, the world’s malice is profound. Even casual phrases could pose a threat.”
“I’ve always lived in such a world.”
Lu Ban replied, glancing at Shia again.
“Why do you like eating? I’m curious. In the real world, your constant travels and the scarce resources of Night Country made you a big eater, but here, you didn’t have those conditions to form such a habit.”
“Me? I’ve always liked eating stuff from when I was little, or rather, I like trying different things. Food offers the most variety I could get my hands on. Besides, doesn’t eating something tasty make one feel happy?”
Shia naturally answered. She didn’t dwell on Lu Ban’s description of the real world, treating it merely as a backdrop for their conversation. After a pause, she started again.
“In fact, there’s something I find quite curious. If your original ‘real world’ truly exists and this place also truly exists, then why would the personalities of the people from your described world match those of this world? After all, growing environments shape personalities, yet this place is very different from the world you describe.”
“So one of the worlds must be false.”
Lu Ban remarked.
He wanted to say more when suddenly he heard cries for help coming from the sea in front of him.
“Someone’s drowning, someone’s drowning!”
